BUHARI’S PARTY IS A “HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF”!

President Buhari has at long last wielded the “big stick” to check cantankerous party members in order to assert his authority as the authentic leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress and left no one in doubt that he was in full control when he:
Swept out the National Working Committee (NWC), of the APC, seamlessly and doused a tension which had almost ripped the party apart through gross incompetence exhibited in crisis management by the out gone diminutive Chairman, Adams Aliu Oshiomole, throughout his entire five years in office and most disgracefully in his Edo home state! The President also ordered that all pending court cases by aggrieved members against one another should be withdrawn with immediate effect!
Moved against the Office of the Vice President and virtually relegated it to oblivion because in spite of the fact that they both shared one ticket for the presidential slot at the elections; and that Professor ‘Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, was faithful to watch the President’s back while he was hospitalized for most times in the first term, the VP was not consulted to make input when his principal appointed the new set of Ministers and Advisers!
Believed the damming memo of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, (SAN), against the five-year in office, fire-breathing Ibrahim Magu, Head of the anti-corruption agency, (Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which had been in the fore front of the crusade, got him arrested with the tacit connivance of Directorate for Secret Service (DSS) Operatives and detained him in police custody!
Instructed an already constituted Presidential Probe Panel (PPP), to investigate allegations contained in Malami’s memo, approved the suspension of Magu and immediately appointed the agency’s Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar to take over the administration pending conclusion of the on-going investigation headed by Justice Ayo Salami, a distinguished former President of the Court of Appeal, an erudite judge, a man of impeccable integrity to head the Panel. It is strongly believed that hes would bring his wealth of experience to ensure that justice was served! 
The President cared less whether Magu’s 5-year high- profile and exemplary achievements in the war against corruption was rubbished through his ignominious arrest and detention like a common criminal – when he was constitutionally deemed to be innocent until the contrary was proved! As at the time of this publication on 12th July, 2020, he has spent 6 days at the Force Criminal Investigating Department (FCID). According to unconfirmed reports, Magu was arrested for failing to honor two invitations from the PPP! 

PROFESSOR IBRAHIM GAMBARI, THE BRAND NEW CHIEF OF STAFF (CoS), to the President, should be congratulated for all the “achievements” through the BIG STICK ass listed above!

DEARTH OF PARTY SUPREMACY IN APC!

Party supremacy structure like is practiced by the ruling African National Congress (ANC), of South Africa, did not debut with the Change Government of President Muhammadu Buhari on resumption of office for the first term in 2015, because he quipped at inauguration, “I am for everybody and I am for nobody”!
Messrs. ‘Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, arrowheads of the 8th National Assembly, cashed in on that declaration, staged a legislative coup-de-tat and forcibly entrenched themselves as Senate President and Speaker, House of Representatives, respectively to traumatize the entire system and the polity like it had never been in the nation’s political history!

In 2018 both men defected to the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where they were formerly rooted and were audacious to hold on very firmly to their positions as principal officers of the National Assembly and neither the President, the Legislature nor the Party could remove them! 

To compound the already tensed situation, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomole, mounted the rostrum as the second Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on  23rd June 2018, and declared that if President Buhari tolerated ineptitude among party members, he would not brew any form of non-sense or indiscipline from any of them, many political analysts including those of us on this platform sensed what the arrogant stance of the diminutive man portended for the party in no distant future!

MAGU IN THE EYE OF THE STORM!

Following the hue and cry by pro-Magu admirers who faulted the media trial, hype/drama orchestrated on the social media over the entire gamut of the accusations contained in Malami’s Memo; it has been uncovered that the same set of unproven allegations contained in a 2016/2017 DSS negative security reports which deprived Magu from Senate’s confirmation twice, were copied and pasted in the said memo!
There seems to be an unresolved controversy in respect of the extent of the supervisory powers of the Attorney General of the Federation over the EFCC – a grievance which Malami highlighted in his lengthy memo against Magu.

The President’s image maker Garba Shehu has said that there was nothing improper about Magu’s arrest, detention and probe because, no person, no matter highly placed, was above the law! We could not agree less, but is that the TRUE OFFICIAL stand? How many ministers, presidential advisers or civil servants who had been accused of corruption are currently in police custody and government perceives wisdom in turning the hunter into the hunted?

PACAC SAYS MALAMI’S MEMO WREAKS OF POWER PLAY!

The  Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), said on Monday 6th July, 2020, that Malami was “an arrowhead or a major agent of a power bloc that is not really interested in, or in support of, Buhari’s anti-corruption fight,” in a statement signed by a member of the Committee, Professor ‘Femi Odekunle.

He further said that DSS role in the arrest of Magu based on Malami’s memo now being investigated by a panel was suspect and mischievous as confirmed in some after- thought denial by DSS that “it was not arrest” but an invitation and added, “The alleged originating Malami memo up to the current ‘arrest’ seems an outcome of power play blocs in the corridors of power”.
It is obvious that Malami has been exploiting his loyalty and closeness to the president for his own personal/power bloc agenda without manifesting any genuine commitment to the anti-corruption fight, PACAC further said.

The Committee however warned that the President must be very careful while trying to nail any official of whatever status if found corrupt, “not to shoot his anti-corruption fight and modest achievements in the foot, and not to forget that EFCC under Magu has been the administration’s anti-corruption poster-face.”
Human Rights lawyer ‘Femi Falana, (SAN), has said that Magu could have his job back if he was not found guilty of allegations against him adding, that it was crucial that he was investigated as he was not the first EFCC boss to be probed.

Twenty-two (22) allegations were contained in the Malami Memo which accused Magu, who was arrested on Monday 6th July, 2020, among other charges, of insubordination, corruption, lack of control, disloyalty, diversion of recovered loots and giving N4 billion naira to the Vice President, etc etc.

According to the report, the panel had seated for more than three weeks before Magu was asked to be brought in for interrogation and clear himself!

THE TRENDING “ROFO’ ROFO” FIGHT IS A TICKING BOMB!

* Aggrieved APC members will still pursue individual agenda presently suspended through Buhari’s “big stick”!
*Some will jump ship to satisfy their ambition in other parties!
* Has Buhari not shot himself on the foot already by listening to his new CoS?
*Is the scenario of a “house divided against itself” not playing out - considering
the position of PACAC and the allegation that N4 billion was given to Mr. VP – which has been vehemently denied by Magu before the Panel?
*Northern leaders from Kano and Kaduna disagree with Malami whom they described as “an appointee” for trying to bring down Magu at all cost without considering the risky assignment he has performed creditably for Nigeria in the last five years and advised him to resign his appointment if he was not comfortable with the fearless officer!

IS APC TRULY AN ASSOCIATION OF STRANGE BED FELLOWS?

At this rate of commotion what would remain of the APC by 2023 when Buhari must pack and go? Won’t the CPC, ANPP, CAN AND THE NEW-PDP go their separate ways and chorusing; “To your tents O Israel”?

WHAT BECOMES OF THE THREE-PRONGED APC AGENDA: (1) Fight Insecurity, (2) Revamp the Economy and (3) Destroy Corruption from its very foundation?

WILL PRESIDENT BUHARI DEPART AND LEAVE NIGERIA WORSE OFF THAN HE MET IT IN 2015?

The buck stops at the table of the President! If he continues to listen to the crop of ministers, advisers, old cronies, CoS, and allow family considerations to becloud his judgments, he would have himself to blame at the end of his tenure which is closer than he thinks!

APC IS ON THE PRECIPICE AND COULD CRASH AT ANYTIME IF GREAT CARE WAS NOT TAKEN NOW!

Buhari should remember that he did not get to that exalted position by might, power or popularity BUT by divine intervention from the Almighty God Whom he would give account of his stewardship in due time! The TALAKAWAS whom he swore to protect are still dwelling in abject poverty now compounded with Covid-19 pandemic! “A stitch in time saves nine!”

NIGERIA DESERVES A NEW CONSTITUTION TO CURB LEGISLATORS EXCESSES AND END INSECURITY!

How long does it take to produce a credible Nigerian Constitution? Maximum ruler, General Sanni Abacha, died suddenly on 8th June 1998 and was succeeded by General Abdussalam Abubakar, who produced a military constitution within a year and handed over to some very agitated politicians who eventually detected all pitfalls, irregularities and loopholes since 1999, but kept mute because the adulterated/illegal document was their passport to become “Hushpuppi & Woodberry”, without much sweat!
Popular opinion believed that during his short tenure as Nigeria’s 11th Head of State, Abdussalam adopted  a modified/mutilated version of the 1979 constitution which provided for multi-party elections which has thrown up 91 political parties and several “associations” warming up to metamorphose into political wizards/billionaires!

This concocted 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was put to test again on the floor of the Senate Chambers on Tuesday, 30th June, 2020, when the paper works of one of the much-publicized social intervention programmes, a Pilot Special Public Works in the Rural Areas tagged “774,000 Jobs for Local Governments”, had to go through the Joint Committees on Labour of both Senate and House of Representatives for scrutiny/defence.

But the Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, (SAN), who was determined to ensure that “legislators would not seat in one private room and pocket the Social intervention Programme (SIP),” deliberately prevented the law makers from hijacking the process through pretentious “Constitutional OVERSIGHT” behind closed doors and told them that the project was exclusive to the Federal Executive Government in spite of the fact that he was summoned to brief them!
A report said that he caught the ire of enraged legislators who insisted that he should have submitted the details of programme to them privately for vetting before taking certain steps for them to have an input on how the programme should be implemented and insisted on a CLOSED-DOOR SESSION which the minister rebuffed! In the process of heated argument Keyamo was asked to leave the Hall for refusing to apologize to them.                                                                                                                                                                                            

The initiative which was packaged to cushion effects of Covid-19 pandemic at the lowest level of the society, will take off on 1st October which coincides with Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary will employ at least 1,000 unskilled ordinary persons from each of the 774 LG Areas, who will be engaged in drainage digging/clearance, irrigation canals clearance, rural feeder road maintenance, etc, and paid N20,000 monthly to carry out the public works domiciled in the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), under Section 16 (1) of the NDE Act, for implementation.
Each State, according to the details supplied by the Minister, Mr. Festus Keyamo, (SAN), will have a committee to choose those to be employed and the jobs they will perform with input from political leaders, (allowed to select not more than 10% of the beneficiaries in their areas), and such employees will be engaged for a period of three months, October-December 2020, in all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
And for the reason of exclusion, the legislators claimed they have suspended the entire programme as it would not benefit them though they claimed to be “representatives” of the masses and would want the stigma of Nigeria being “poverty capital of the world” ERASED? Is perpetrating poverty in the land the new oversight of the LEGISLATORS? Do they have constitutional powers to stop this Executive project?

NOW IS THE APPOINTED TIME FOR GENERAL BUHARI TO SPEARHEAD A BRAND NEW CONSTITUTION DEVOID OF VAMPIRE SENATORS!

The clamour for a UNICAMERAL LEGISLATURE devoid of the upper chambers is very imperative at this challenging period when the Covid-19 pandemic has adversely depleted the nation’s economy so that all financial accruals to those senators and other glaring wastages in both the Executive and Judiciary running into trillions of naira annually, would be ploughed to boost internally-generated revenues through Agriculture and the Extractive industries notably, GAS & GOLD that attract high dividends in foreign earnings.

WAS IT NOT HIGH TIME GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI REDEEMED HIS DIMINISHING IMAGE BY SPEARHEADING THE SCRAPPING OF THE SENATE TODAY?

The President does not need to wait until 2023 to call for a REFERENDUM as we had suggested several times because he will have the support of all Nigerians to REMOVE THOSE BAD EGGS that are bent on complete ruin of Nigeria’s economy through aggrandizement once and for all! Nigerians are tired of 109 SENATE PREDATORS who are reaping where they did not sow!
WHEN NIGERIANS OPPOSED AND CONDEMNED APPROPRIATION OF N37 BILLION NAIRA TO RENOVATE THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COMPLEX, THEY REDUCED THE AMOUNT TO N27 BILLION AND THE PRESIDENT KEPT MUTE! HEAVEN WILL NOT FALL IF NASS IS NOT RENOVATED!

But WE will not accept any further PRESIDENTIAL SILENCE from henceforth because WE will demand accountability from the President who promised that his administration would cater for the TALAKAWAS in 2015 & 2019 because WE voted for him to perform and not to surround himself with charlatans who are cashing in on several FLAWS bequeathed to Nigerians through the 1999 military constitution!

GLARING FLAWS OF THE UNITARY 1999 MILITARY CONSTITUTION!
It is common knowledge that  military organizational charts are vertically-integrated in a unitary format, so the 1999 Constitution handed over to the Nigerian people at their disengagement from partisan politics on 29th May, 1999 was devoid of contributions  from NGOs, CSOs, the Labor Sector or the impute of a National Conference, Plebiscite or even a Referendum!
Greater powers are vested to the centre i.e. the Presidency, more that the Federating States;
All lands in the country  were grabbed in the military fashion through the obnoxious LAND USE ACT, thereby depriving the citizens of decent/adequate accommodations and farm lands that could serve as collaterals for banking transactions;
The social contracts which include rights to potable water, food security/sufficiency, access roads, arable lands for massive agricultural diversification of the economy, employment opportunities, national living wages, pension facilities to the aged and retired workers etc, are mere window dressing;
The entire Constitution was written in the masculine gender to marginalize the women who have greater statistics in the national population of about 200 million people and the pronoun, "he" is regarded as UNISEX;
Other notable flaws can be found in State Creation process/procedure;  Electoral organizers are expected to be members of political parties; the Judiciary and Ministry of Finance where professional and political offices are merged into  one office to create more confusion; lack of a defined autonomous status of Local governments; ambiguous fiscal and revenue-sharing formula between Federal and State governments etc, many of these confusions have been re-defined at the apex court with very little reprieve! THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER CONFLICTS IN THE 1999 CONSTITUTION THAT ARE FAR MORE THAN THOSE LISTED ABOVE AND CANNOT FIND SPACE IN THIS TREATISE!

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS WERE EFFORTS IN FUTILITY SINCE 1999!
The National Assembly on assumption of office 1999 discovered these ambiguities, inadequacies, irregularities/shortcomings/lacunas which should have prompted quick intervention during the 4th and 5th Assemblies of ex-President Obasanjo's tenure, but delayed the evil day which has eventually reared its ugly head in the form of demands for diverse kinds of RESTRUCTURING, like DEVOLUTION OF POWER from the CENTRE to federating States, RESOURCE CONTROL by Crude Oil producing  States, reversal to REGIONAL system of the 1960s and even - SECESSION!
The faulty military document created the stampede of new breed of mercenary "do-or-die" politicians between 1999 and 2019, and the desperados were quick to jump ship from one Party to another as long as they would gain relevance in the band wagon of money-monger gangs and no remarkable achievement was recorded in the direction of drafting/crafting a new Constitution! In fact, the last exercise of the un-amendable jig-saw puzzles in the 1999 Constitution during ex-President Jonathan's administration was thrown into the garbage bin because of selfish desires of the legislators to whittle down and eventually USURP EXECUTIVE AND PRESIDENTIAL POWERS!

THE URGENT COMMISSIONING OF A CONSTITUTION REVIEW COMMITTEE AND CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY BY APC IS IMPERATIVE!

The duty of a Constituent Assembly (CA), to be composed by representatives from the SIX GEO-POLITICAL ZONES CONSTITUENCIES will be to DELIBERATE upon a draft constitution to be produced by Constitution Review Committee (CRC), made up of TRUE, LEGITIMATE, & BONA-FIDE PEOPLE OF NIGERIA from all walks of life -  politicians, CSO's, NGO's, university youths/students, the ivory tower scholars, technocrats, professionals, industrialists, captains of industries, lawyers, judges, the aged, motor drivers, market women, traders, farmers, the physically disadvantaged, the rich and the poor, etc; from all the 774 Local Government Areas of the federation, and then PAINSTAKINGLY SIFTED AND THOROUGHLY VETTED for passage and Executive approval by the FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (FEC), as a brand new CONSTITUTION of the Federal Republic of Nigeria! This feat can be achieved before the next 2023 elections!
A BRAND NEW CONSTITUTION WILL TAKE CARE OF THE TALAKAWAS NEEDS AND THEY WOULD BEGIN TO ENJOY A BRAND NEW LIFE DEVOID OF SUFFERINGS AND POVERTY! It is written," When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."(Prov 29:2 KJV)

NIGERIAN POLITICIANS HAVE KILLED MORE CITIZENS THAN BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS!

Nigeria held its sixth round of national general elections on 23rd February 2019, amidst fears that violence would erupt like at other periods since the military packed bag and baggage and partially retired to the barracks!

It has become a norm in Nigeria that every election must witness bloodshed whether it is national, state or local government event! Elections from 2003 through 2007, 2011, and 2015 were conducted and supervised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was in power for 16 years while the All Progressives Congress (APC), ruling party conducted its first general elections in 2019!

Poll violence was usually sectarian or ethnic in nature, but at times along religious divide depending on who is accused of vote-rigging or masterminded its geographic spread!
In 2015 as many as 100 people were killed during and after the election, according to the International Group of monitors while four years before then (2011), it was reported that 800 people died when fighting erupted between Muslims and the mainly Christian backers of the ex-President Ebele Jonathan!
Statistics of poll casualties from independence to date are in thousand of thousands!

GOVERNORS WIKE & OBASEKI ARE ABOUT TO UNLEASH POLITICAL VIOLENCE OF “DO-OR-DIE” IN EDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION OF SEPTEMBER, 2020!

The sobriquet “Mr. Fix It”, relinquished at death by Chief Tony Anenih, in 2018, did not behave like the stupid fly, it stayed in the Niger Delta and camped with Nyesome Wike, the Rivers State PDP Governor!

Rivers Government Lodge had become a Mecca of sort since Mr. Wike commandeered and assumed leadership of a disarrayed PDP and menacingly called the shots from Port Harcourt on every major issue following the loss of ex-President Ebele Jonathan to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015!

It’s on record that he hosted the election of the PDP Chairman, Caretaker Committee, to which two former governors of Kaduna and Bornu States, laid claim; he also single-handedly picked a Rivers man as the incumbent PDP Chairman who obeys the master’s voice!

Every PDP major decision was made by him with threats that any opposition would be summarily crushed without mercy and the most recent, the admission of a very desperate Governor Obaseki of Edo State and his deputy, who MUST run a second tenure in a “do-or-die” manner, having been rejected by the APC Screening Committee!

The frightening rate at which Nigerian politicians defected from one party to another without regard to relevant provisions of the Constitution since the advent of the nascent democracy and have gotten away without legal challenge, point to only one direction – and that is: this nation is on the threshold of slipping into the realm of a “failed state “ if urgent measures were not put in place by President Buhari to stem the ugly trend!

The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Chapter V Section 68 (1) (g ), as amended is unambiguous in respect of the circumstances that could lead elected politicians to defect from one party to another but since the fresh attempt at democracy 20 years on, those legal requirements had been side-lined and no one bothered to contest the flagrant disobedience in the courts because they all flouted the extant legislation with impunity!

DECAMPEES CLAIM INSECURITY & PARTY SQUABBLES AS EXCUSES FOR DEFECTIONS!

Conservative statistics of death tolls in the Middle Belt States of Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Taraba, including Zamfara in the North West, between January and July, 2018, was put at about 1,800 people, consisting of men women and children, excluding security personnel, but after all hue, cry and lamentations, obsessed politicians forgot the pains/agonies of the citizens in their various constituencies/districts, passed the "buck" to the President and the ruling party and moved on to look for greener pastures!

Personal/positive ambition is not a crime in Nigeria's extant laws but INORDINATE AMBITION which borders on egotism, self-aggrandizement, nepotism, tribalism, pre-meditated institutional corruption, MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO FESTER IN ANY SANE DEMOCRACY!

It is therefore very imperative for politicians to shun attitudes that could lead to despotism, propagation and perpetration of individuals in positions of authority for too long to the detriment of other interested parties – and thereby building PERSONALITIES INSTEAD OF VIABLE INSTITUTIONS!

There are several politicians who served in the Legislative Arm for SIXTEEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS, (1999-2015), and are still serving in the present Change administration as if they were the proverbial "one-eyed person in a community of blind people"!

For decorum and moral consideration, such persons should have given opportunity to others after two tenures at least, since they did not possibly possess the monopoly of knowledge and wisdom; but this is the political scenario that is playing out in Nigeria presently!

Even those soldiers and bloody civilians who served the Army juntas of about 30 years, are still very vibrant, active and earning fat salaries as politicians - legislators/ministers/ board chairmen, etc.
Local and international political pundits were not surprised when on Tuesday, 24th July, 2018, renegade 'Bukola Saraki announced at plenary that FOURTEEN "APC" SENATORS had defected to the opposition PDP while his counterpart, Yakubu Dogara also disclosed that THRITY-TWO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEMBERS, also defected to the PDP and other minority parties WHILE THE INCUMBENT APC BENUE STATE GOVERNOR, ON THE FOLLOWING DAY ALSO DECAMPED TO PDP!

The signs of internal wrangling had been manifest within the rank and file of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from inauguration and what has played out was the black/yellow bile from the gall bladders of the INORDINATE AMBITIOUS, VERY GREEDY AND SELFISH POLITICIANS WHO MUST BE PROMINENT ACTORS IN EVERY GOVERNMENT IN POWER! They are not interested in nation-building but only in NAIRA GAINS!

ADAMS ALIU OSHIOMOLE WAS COMPLICIT IN EVERY MATERIAL ASPECT!  (Below is an excerpt of our publication, Edition 294 of 31st March, 2019).

“Comrade Adams Oshiomole, Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, has been very undiplomatic in his administration since his assumption of office!
Sitting Governors of, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, accused him of imposition of candidates during party primaries that produced factionalized candidates from the same party, and demanded for his removal without success! Now that APC has won the elections with comfortable majority in the National Assembly (NASS), he has begun a campaign of "winner takes all" and the imposition of principal officers on both chambers; and if not quickly checked, would likely play into the hand of Ali Ndume, who could become an insurgent and replay a coup drama with the opposition, like he did with Saraki in 2015!

“The General Elections have come and almost gone but APC's numerical advantage had been greatly compromised through acts of commission or omission, by the party's hierarchy, with Oshiomole as the arrow head! Before the 2019 General Elections, APC was in control of 23 States and boasted of majority figures in the two NASS Chambers, in spite of the gale of defections which defied all constitutional provisions!

“But as at the dust settled over the outcome of elections, it was very glaring that the ruling party had suffered several defeats at the States and the National Assembly, although statistics at the time of this publication stated as follows: States controlled by APC - 19, PDP, 15; Legislative Seats: APC - Senate, 65; House of Representatives (HOR), 203; PDP, Senate, 41; HOR;102 and the ripple effects of faulty diplomacy would definitely manifest at State Assemblies when a new Change Administration reconvenes in continuity from 29th May, 2019, and from early June, 2019, respectively!

“EVEN, APC's controlled States of Oyo, Imo, Bauchi, have now been won by the opposition PDP, due to defective diplomacy by the leadership because it is believed that Adams Oshiomole did not work in isolation from the party's National Executive Council (NEC)!

PRESIDENT BUHARI  MUST NOT STAND ALOOF THIS TIME AROUND!

“Unlike his 2015 inauguration speech of; "I am for nobody but I am for everybody," which was twisted by the ilk of the Sarakis, who took advantage to manipulate the system in their inordinate favour, this time around, President Buhari, MUST have his feet on the ground to ensure a well-co-ordinated and smooth synergy between the two arms, in other to avoid the unpleasant pitfalls of the past FOUR years which almost truncated the nation's nascent democracy!”

GOOD BYE TO OSHIOMOLE WHO WAS REMOVED IN A PALACE COUP AT ASO ROCK!

APC’s National Executive Council, (NEC), chaired by President Buhari, on Thursday 25th June, 2020, dissolved the National Working Committee (NWC), headed by Aliu Oshiomole, at a meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The President also called for the immediate suspension of all pending litigations involving the party and its members, as well as the ratification of the party’s governorship  primary election recently conducted in Edo State, and stressed the need for members to enforce party discipline.

QUESTION: WILL OBASEKI AND WIKE GET AWAY WITH THIS RAPE ON DEMOCRACY? Time will tell!

So much condemnation over insecurity in Nigeria has brought to the fore a number of proffered solutions ranging from secession to regionalisation, restructuring, or outright North/South dichotomy so that the over 200 million citizens of the existing “contraption” could go their separate ways!

Can Nigerian politicians and the entire citizenry claim that they are oblivious that the root-cause of the nation’s insecurity problems ARE THE ROAMING COWS or were they all pretentious to the TRUTH in view of illicit PECUNIARY GAINS that accrue to Cow dealers at the expense of massive loss of precious human lives?

It had been proved and established that majority of the COW POPULATION IN NIGERIA belong to the elites in the military, civil society groups of money bags, which employ peasants to herd the animals for grazing anywhere they found luscious fields of green grass though they maintained various Ranches across the country where they could be properly maintained and given necessary and adequate medical attention!

IT IS AN OPEN FACT THAT NORTHERNERS HAVE RATED A COW’S LIFE HIGHER THAN THAT OF A HUMAN!  

Instances in the past have revealed that clashes between the pastoralists and farmers always resulted in heavy human casualties once ONE COW WAS EITHER INJURED OR KILLED – and it had been the trend till date!
KADUNA State Governor, El Rufai, said during his first term that he paid handsome compensations to some FOREIGN Herdsmen from West Africa to avoid a reprisal when some of their cows were killed during a clash with Nigerian farmers whose vegetations were completely ransacked by the foreign cows!

Governor El Rufai (A FULANI MAN), also said that Fulani herdsmen always avenged the slaughter of their cows even if took a hundred years!

QUESTION BEGGING FOR ANSWERS!

Was the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates of Nigeria in 1914 by the British colonial masters intended to UNITE or create DIVISION among the diverse people? If the answer is in the affirmative, why is greater premium being placed now on COW-REARING WHICH HAD BEEN THE MAIN PRE-OCCUPATION OF THE NORTHERNERS LONG BEFORE INDEPENDENCE IN 1960?

The nomadic herders between 1960 and 2009 were friendly, loving, ease-going people who blended with all tribes and always exchanged pleasantries as they roamed the nooks and crannies of the nation’s landscape for grazing areas and even traded some of their animals for cash along their itinerary routes across the length/breadth  of the arable areas without quarrel or rancour and it was difficult to differentiate between FULANIS  from Nigeria, Niger, Togo, Senegal or Sierra Leon, because of their look-alike features!

BUT with the debut of Boko Haram in 2009, the story changed as herders were manipulated through Islamic Doctrine and other deceptions which turned them to carry lethal arms and unleash mayhem upon innocent citizens through the destruction of their farmlands or through cattle rustling.

WHO DID NOT KNOW THAT THE ARMED NOMADIC HERDSMEN, THE VICIOUS ARMED KIDNAPPERS, THE RUTHLESS BANDITS, THE HIGHWAY ROBBERS/ASSASSINS, ARE NETWORKING WITH THE BOKO HARAM! Statistics of killings by these mindless groups between January and September 2018 alone was nearly 1,700, according to Global Terrorism Index.

Other years before the 2019 elections though were less intimidating, were very unacceptable!!

Check out the modus operandi of the mindless criminals and discover the similitude of operations which was why it was easy for them to CONVERT THE ITINERANT NOMADIC FULANI HERDSMEN INTO THEIR ARMED FOOT SOLDIERS WHO ARE NOT HINDERED FROM CRISSCROSSING THE NATION AND PRETENDING TO BE INNOCENT PASTORALIST!

In spite of the land borders closure before and during the Covid-19 pandemic the herdsmen movement remained unhindered because they are the unsuspicious decoy for Boko Haram seamless attacks across the nation!

IS NIGERIA THE 21ST CENTURY ANIMAL FARM?

George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”, a 1945 allegorical novella narrated the story of a group of farm animals which rebelled against their human owner/master, took over authority with a view to creating an egalitarian society where they could enjoy absolute freedom of rights and equality.

Orwell’s focus in that work was a highlight of the infamous Communist ideology which dominated Russia and the Soviet Union but eventually resisted and overcome!

However in the novella, the animals realised that some of them (the Pigs in particular), were “more equal” than the others, cruel and oppressive as the human farmers! SO THEY HAD TO ABANDON THE MISSION AND RETURN TO STATUS QUO! 

Nigeria is not the allegorical “Animal Farm” where Humans could be kicked out by ROAMING COWS in an organized rebellion like the kind being witnessed in the nation as it is presently!

WHO EXCEPT THE AREWA THAT IS TOTALLY BLIND TO THE GLARING FACT THAT THEIR ROAMING COWS ARE THE ROOTED CAUSE OF INSECURITY IN NIGERIA?

According to the African adage: Arewa has “abandoned the treatment of leprosy to concentrate on body itches!”
A coalition of NINE Arewa Youth groups on 16th June, 2020, gave 14-day ultimatum from 15th June, 2020, to Federal Government to end insecurity in Northern Nigeria or face mass action because it has failed to protect the lives and properties of the citizens!!
In a statement, the coalition asked President Buhari to immediately sack all the Service Chiefs, abolish Security Votes for Governors. (All service Chiefs except Navy are of Northern extraction!)
Northern Elders Forum (NEF) demanded that the President took positive action on the very poor security situation in the North rather than merely condemning bandits each time they killed people.
Indigenous people of Katsina demand State of emergency to stave off frequent killings of innocent people by bandits.
Northern Christian Association (CAN) of Nigeria seeks an end to insecurity in Nigeria!

The groups claim that the five years of Buhari’s administration had escalated insecurity since greater number of Northerners had been exposed to avoidable deaths and loss of property in a manner that history had never witnessed before!

AREWA has no right to pronounce 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government because:
Arewa’s Boko Haram are the TERRORISTS!
Arewa’s Boko Haram are the Kidnappers, the Highway Robbers, the Marauders, the Assassins, the Insurgents.... and are being sponsored by AREWA MONEY BAGS!

THE SOLUTION TO INSECURITY IN NIGERIA RESTS SQUARELY IN THE HANDS OF PRESIDENT BUHARI, THE AREWA LEADERS AND THE AREWA YOUTHS!
Stop the Roaming Cows in their tracks.
Limit COWS to STATES OF ORIGIN!
Ban NOMADIC FULANI HERDSMEN from North and West African Countries from migrating into Nigeria &, the upsurge of the kind of INSECURITY BEING WITNESSED IN NIGERIA PRESENTLY WILL AUTOMATICALLY COME TO AN END!

BUT AREWA HOLDS THE KEY TO PEACE IN NIGERIA!

The LEADERSHIP STYLE OF AREWA Must be brought to accountability by both the Federal/State Governments and PEOPLE OF NIGERIA at this critical period that an acceptable solution MUST be proffered to SECURE the nation and salvage what is left of it for POSTERITY!

We appreciate that the ALMAJIRI SYSTEM OF EDUCATION which birthed and nurtured BOKO HARAM, in the North has been ABOLISHED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
BUT UNTIL AREWA....

Decides to limit COW-HERDING to individual States to legislate for RANCHING, RUGA etc; as they deemed fit;
Bans nomadic herders from West African/Northern Countries from migrating freely into Nigeria with their COWS under any existing international convention or protocol ....
Legislates against any form of animal grazing in any public/private spaces of the North BUT ensure that any individual who engaged in livestock business, would do so according to the NEW LAWS to maintain permanent peace!
But if Buhari fails to carry out all of the above, SOMEONE ELSE is waiting in the WING!

JUNE 12 SPIRIT IS ANGRY WITH NIGERIAN UNRIGHTEOUS LEADERS!

For 27 consecutive years, the grieved Spirit of June 12,  hovered painfully and restlessly over the nation of Nigeria wondering why military/political leaders were so callous, wicked, insensitive, selfish, irresponsible, greedy and unpredictable in all manner of avowed socio-economic commitments with each passing administration, and pained that the unbroken chain of calamities that have  bedevilled the country could have been avoided if only the acclaimed winner of the 1993 Presidential Election, was not denied his mandate!

It so happened that the Military which accused politicians of avarice, aggrandizement, institutional corruption and maladministration from 1966 when they staged two bloody coups along ethnic lines, decided to sit tight, haven tasted the forbidden apple in a diarchy through which everyone rubbed each other’s back in a combined invasion/looting of the nation’s treasury!

“Unity In Diversity” turned out to be the sing-song doctrine passed on from Aguiyi Ironsi to Yakubu Gowon (who supervised a 30-month-long “Biafra War” between 1967 and 1970), to Murtala Mohammed, then from Aremu Obasanjo to Civilian Shehu Shagari who was dethroned by Mohammadu Buhari and who was also booted out by fellow soldier, Ibrahim Babangida, the CULPRIT WHO ANNULLED THE FREEST, PEACEFUL, POPULAR AND DEMOCRATIC, ELECTION WON BY MOSHOOD KASHIMAWO ABIOLA ON JUNE 12, IN A CATASTROPHIC, OUTRAGEOUS AND MINDLESS ONE-MAN DECISION WHICH HAS TURNED NIGERIA INTO AN ABATTOIR  OF CEASELESS FLOW OF HUMAN BLOOD FROM 23RD JUNE 1993 TO DATE!

That Muhammadu Buhari’s government now gave recognition to JUNE 12 as the new DEMOCRACY DAY which was first celebrated in the year 2020 was plausible; BUT could the belated gesture REDEEM THE BLOOD OF THOUSAND OF THOUSANDS OF CITIZENS WHO PAID THE SUPREME PRICE WITHOUT GOING TO A BATTLE FRONT or turn back the hands of the clock to 1st October, 1960, when the nation was birthed as an independent country, fresh, untainted and unadulterated by pseudo leaders! The Spirit of June 12 goes beyond an Executive Bill signed by Buhari in 2019, declaring the day as the new Democracy Day to replace the previous 29th May date!

Who says that bad leadership (immersed in institutional corruption) is NOT responsible for the quagmire of endemic INSECURITY baggage bequeathed from one administration to another till date, especially the Boko Haram insurgency that is in its 11th year of devastation in Nigeria? Why was it difficult to convince the Easterners in 1967 that SECESSION was not the solution to ethnicity or tribal challenges whereas in DIVERSITY RESIDES THE STRENGTH OF NIGERIA AS A NATION!

The disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ were all Israelites but not Galileans by tribe and when instructed to stay together in Jerusalem in order to receive the blessings of the Holy Spirit as “Another Comforter” in not too long a period, their obedience actualized the promise and also spread the Christian Gospel to the whole universe.

DIVERSITY SHOULD BE HARNESSED FOR STRENGTH!
Diversity is the recognition of individual uniqueness in spite of individual differences along political/religious beliefs, cultural differences, dimensions of race, socio-economic status, physical abilities/disabilities, ethnicity, age, different ideologies, sexual orientation, gender disparities and all the qualities that make people different and the united capability to harness uniqueness to advantage!
Is it not therefore very important that leaders should have pre-occupied themselves to recognise the different human traits/demographic characteristics of the people and how they could harness value/attitudes, occupational differences in skill/abilities etc, for the overall benefit of the nation in all fields of endeavours before attempting to venture into any elective office?
IN ALL OF THE FOREGOING HUMAN TRAITS RESIDES THE UNIFIED STRENGTH OF A DIVERSE NATION! The United States of America (USA) is a shining example of a nation of diversified immigrants which has tried very hard to be united in spite of the age-long dichotomy of Black/White race which is strongly opposed by modern and civilised Whites!   Nigeria as a nation endowed with a natural gift of diverse people of different tribes and tongues (over 250 and 500 respectively), needs to ask itself (whether the objectives of June 12, which foisted A MUSLIM/MUSLIM TICKET without consideration for tribal and ethnic bias), was actualized? The painful answer is NO! June 12 turned out to be a HOPE betrayed through the inordinate ambition of a soldier who wanted to sit tight in office at all costs!  

EVERYONE IS CALLING FOR THE HEAD OF BABANGIDA!
A former democratic Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, has joined the bandwagon of those calling for the head of military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, who was the arrowhead responsible for all the woes/tribulations that greeted the TREASONABLE JUNE 12 ANNULMENT, and insisted that a probe must be instituted urgently to bring him to book!
If June 12 had actualized, the elusive clamour of patriots for UNITY/EGALITARIANISM would have been entrenched and crimes and criminalities would not have festered at the present uncontrollable and alarming rate in which all citizens dwell in perpetual FEAR from day to day!

WHAT DID BUHARI SAY TO NIGERIANS ON JUNE 12? 
“Sustaining our democracy thus far has been a collective struggle, and I congratulate all Nigerians and particularly leaders of our democratic institutions on their resilience and determination to ensure that Nigeria remains a shining example of democracy.
“ .... I promise to frontally address the nation’s daunting challenges, especially, INSECURITY, ECONOMY AND CORRUPTION. I give account of my stewardship.....  “We have recorded notable achievements...... On the economic front our objectives have remained to stabilize the macro economy, achieve agricultural and food security, ensure energy sufficiency in power and petroleum products, develop infrastructure, fight corruption and improve governance.
“ We have witnessed eleven quarters of consecutive GDP growth since exiting recession. The GDP grew from 1.91% in 2018 to 2.27% in 2019 but declined to 1.87% in the first quarter of 2020 as a result of the decline in global economic activities due to the COVIC-19 pandemic.
“Every single economy in the world has suffered a decline. Ours has been relatively moderate, “In order to stabilize the economy, the Monetary Authority took steps to build the external reserves which resulted in improved liquidity in the foreign exchange market. The external reserves grew from $33.42 billion on April 29th 2020 to about $36.00 billion in May 2020 which is enough to FINANCE SEVEN MONTHS OF IMPORT COMMITMENTS.
“Agriculture remains the key of our economic diversification strategy. The Presidential Fertilizer Initiative programme continues to deliver significant quantities of affordable and high-quality fertilizers to our farmers. This initiative has also revived 31 blending plants and created a significant number of direct and indirect jobs across the value chain. “Government is also revamping the cotton, textile and garment sector via a CBN Textile Revival Intervention Fund that would considerably reduce foreign exchange spent on cotton and other textile imports. “Through the food security initiative, we are promoting ‘Grow What We Eat’ and ‘Eat What We Grow’.  I am also delighted that more and more Nigerians are taking advantage of the opportunities in the agriculture and agri-business sector. I assure you that government will continue to support Agriculture sector through the CBN Anchor Borrowers Programme and similar schemes..” The President also spoke extensively on security protection on farming investments; integration of rural communities to the formal economy by extending access to credit and inputs to rural farmers and the building of feeder roads. Non-oil exports got some mention as Cocoa and Sesame Seed increased by seventy nine point four million US dollars and one hundred and fifty three million US dollars.
Nigeria has risen by 25 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking from 146th to 131st and is now rated as one of the ten top performing countries. The Mining Sector is also receiving attention through the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Plant based on Government-to-Government financing and a Public-Private Sector financing – similar  activities are also evolving in harnessing the supply value chain in gold production. The critical Power Sector is also receiving adequate attention to meeting industrial development aspirations by tackling challenges that still existed in the delivery of power through different strategies – an existing agreement with SIEMENS OF GERMANY will ensure a total of 11,000 Megawatts by 2023, to serve Nigeria’s electricity needs! Government efforts on Road/Rail Projects, Aviation Sector and progress on the 2nd Niger Bridge were also given prominence in the presidential broadcast which mentioned that peace had been restore in the Niger Delta Region while impact of the new Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy on economic activities; access to quality Education to enhance productivity, affordable accommodation, desertification, total ban on open defecation, job creation, efforts at combating Covid-19 in Nigeria etc, etc also got some mention in the broadcast.

LESSONS TO LEARN FROM ANNULMENT OF JUNE 12 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!
Let’s imagine that the June 12 presidential election was allowed to debut and winners executed their mandates flawlessly, Military dictatorship would have terminated in1993 and Democratic Government nurtured to an almost perfection level because all the present security challenges – especially insurgency/terrorism/kidnapping would be non-existent – CORRUPTION would have no place in the polity because only men/women of probity would occupy positions of authority in government and there would be absolute peace all over the land of Nigeria! We believe that President Buhari could still achieve the lofty expectations of Nigerians for peace and tranquillity within the limited period of his second tenure for the SPIRIT OF JUNE 12 to be pacified and rested! “A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE!

BUHARI HAS ADMITTED AT LAST THAT FUEL SUBSIDY IS FRAUDULENT!

Nobel Laureate, Professor ‘Wole Soyinka, declared that President Muhammadu Buhari was not in-charge of Nigeria during an interview granted to Plus TV Africa, on Thursday 4th June, 2020!

This renowned scholar who had been an unrepentant critic of past Nigerian Governments including the military, based his current aberration on the President while reacting to an open letter written by retired army Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, who warned the incumbent president that the nation risked sliding into crisis if he (Buhari) “continues to give undue preference to some sections of “.the country over others in national appointments,” – an ignoble practice that was forbidden both in the Nigerian Military hierarchy and also imbibed by democratic administrations from PM. Tafawa Balewa, to President Aliyu Shehu Shagari, and from 1999-2015!    ‘Wole Soyinka who had always accused President Buhari of lack-lustre performance, nepotism, institutional corruption under his watch including maladministration also said, “ I don’t really believe there’s anybody in charge at Aso Rock....... I am sorry to say this,  I have been studying the trend over the past year and a half and I believe that this president is not in charge of this nation in so many aspects and direction”!

Professor Soyinka said lopsidedness in appointments is an insult on entire Nigeria and that is also glaring in the Ministry of Petroleum which is headed by the President himself and made reference to the unrest in the Niger Delta due to lack of infrastructural development in the region that produces the mainstay economic crude oil for the nation and recommended adequate punishment for the criminal lopsidedness and as the de facto minister of the indicted Ministry, he should have addressed the nation before talking of restructuring!
He however commended retired Colonel Abubakar Umar, for boldly criticizing and condemning President Buhari’s nepotistic posture in government in an open letter even as a fellow Northerner with the president!

THE NDDC UNDER PRESIDENT BUHARI’S  WATCH!
According to recent reports, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in its 19 years of operation had gulped billions of naira in allocations but has no visible infrastructures to show for the humongous investments and as such President Buhari had ordered a forensic audit of its finances and projects from inception! In effect, the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), in its report on revenues, deductions, disbursements, and application of funds by the NDDC, stated that N59.8 billion was awarded for contracts in Delta State between 2007 and 2011. The Commission’s Appropriation Act in 2016 also revealed that whooping sums of N28 billion and N25billion naira were approved for projects in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Legislators of the National Assembly stock had been fingered as the brain behind the massive fraud in NDDC, from inception to 2019, but denied and described the accusation as cheap blackmail predicated on a falsehood! The outcome of the forensic audit is being awaited feverishly by all stakeholders in order to get at the bottom of the rot in order to set all records right and initiate a new ORDER! It is believed that the Commission has mismanaged at least N1.53 trillion since inception!

EXCERPTS FROM COLONEL ABUBAKAR UMAR’S OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUHARI!
The contentious letter titled, “Mr. President: Please Belong to All of Us”; raised concern over a dangerous polarisation through undue lopsidedness in the president’s appointments which connote ethnic and sectional considerations. The highlight of Col. Umar’s letter centred on the Judiciary where the former Military Governor of Kaduna State, believed suffered much injustice through the un -ceremonial removal of Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen of Cross River State origin on corruption charges and replaced by a Muslim Northerner in spite of the fact that Vice President ‘Yemi Osinbajo had confirmed his acting appointment when the President was hospitalized. He did not fail to mention that another most senior member of the Bench in the Federal Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban Mensem, a Northern Christian is yet to be confirmed as substantive head though she was serving out her second three-month term in acting capacity, while the President is probably busy shopping for a Muslim candidate. He also mentioned glaring appointments of Northern Muslims in the leadership cadre of the Security Services! Retired Col. Umar had earlier quoted the Muslim scholar Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio who once wrote, “One of the swiftest ways of destroying a Kingdom is to give preference of one particular tribe over another or show favour to one group of people rather than another. And to draw near those who should be kept away and keep away those who should be drawn near.”
He concluded by reminding the President that if Justice Mensem who was highly recommended by the National Judicial Council was bypassed to pave way for another Northern Muslim next in line, then it would be truly odd and that he (Mr. President), would need the largest contingent of public relations guru to rebut THE CHARGES THAT YOU ARE EITHER UNWILLING OR INCAPABLE OF ACTING ON YOUR PLEDGE TO BELONG TO EVERYONE – AND TO NO ONE.

DOCTRINE OF ASSUMPTION TO DE-MYSTIFY THE AVALANCHE OF ACCUSATIONS AGAINST PRESIDENT BUHARI!
Assumption should be the RUDDER to address the imbroglio over the avalanche of criticisms that have greeted the Fifth Anniversary of President Buhari’s tenure as Head of Government and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria! Let’s assume that all the accusations against President Buhari, by all of his detractors and faithful friends – who would tell him the truth, whether he likes it or not: Would those moves stop him from completing his second tenure mandate? NO!

Would those barrage of indictments change President Buhari from being a lesser person than “A Man of Integrity”, who is acknowledged world-wide? NO! 
Assuming that he ACCEPTED all criticisms in good fate,  MADE 360 degrees turn-around for urgent amends; RIGHT all wrongs; PACIFY all aggrieved parties; DISBAND the new CABAL that is trying to re-group; REMOVE non-performing aides, advisers, lazy personnel within the corridors of power; INITIATE express response to all forms of agitations for RESTRUCTURING of the nation in line with his party’s El-Rufai’s Committee Recommendations which are NOT at variance with the Masses Demands;
INITIATE establishment of STATE POLICE; BEGIN the process the shutting down the SENATE like his counterpart, President Macky Sall of SENEGAL; RESPOND to all PETITIONS with speed, alacrity, professionalism, dexterity and diligence?
Assuming that he puts on the garb of a TRUE DEMOCRAT, shun nepotism, tribalism, bigotry, favouritism of one sector above the other, of which he had been severally accused, embrace the Doctrine of Equal Opportunities for all Nigerians of over 250 tribes and about 500 languages in all political and socio-economic spaces? Assuming that he addressed the citizens regularly at this trying time of Covid-19 to sooth frayed nerves as FATHER OF THE NATION – in view of the fact that with each passing day, his remaining 4-year second term dwindles?

PRESIDENT BUHARI AS MINISTER OF PETROLEUM SINCE 1976!
President Buhari was a Nigerian Army Lieutenant. Colonel, in 1976 when he was appointed Minister of Petroleum under General Aremu Obasanjo, who succeeded Gen Murtala Mohammed who was assassinated in a failed coup de tat on 13 February 1976.
With the experience garnered then, he decided to handled the Petroleum portfolio as his personal project without proper research and had in the process of FIVE YEARS, compounded the operational activities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation which is the flagship outfit of the OIL AND GAS Sector, identified and addressed as the CITADEL OF INSTITUTIONAL CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA! President Buhari did not realise the enormity of the crimes, criminalities and FRAUD being perpetrated in the sector! He was easily deceived by his “trusted lieutenants” in the Ministry/NNPC Tower of Corruption where accountability was at ZERO LEVEL!
Nigeria cannot confirm daily statistics of barrels of CRUDE lifted from its OIL WELLS! The President can turn all that around in a jiffy once he has convinced himself that the Nation’s CEREBRALS also abound in the SOUTHERN part of Nigeria and would be ready to turn around the fortunes of the Petroleum Industry, even with the available time remaining so that he might leave office in 2023 with his integrity unscathed! 

PETROLEUM SUBSIDY OF 20 YEARS IS A BIG SCAM AFTER ALL!
Speaking through the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), a subsidiary of NNPC on Thursday 4th June, 2020, President Buhari subtly admitted that the SUBSIDY REGIME as practised by consecutive Nigerian administrations was bare-faced robbery of the common patrimony of the citizens and had to be stopped forthwith for Nigerian petroleum prices to be determined by MARKET FORCES HENCEFORTH! There could be no better time than now for such strategic decision when leading Crude Oil producers – Russia and Saudi Arabia have cut prices and boosted production due to general global oversupply of oil combined with economic worries which stemmed from the covid-19 pandemic.

TO REDEEM HIS IMAGE, PRESIDENT BUHARI SHOULD DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR; INSTITUTE AN INDEPENDENT FORENSIC AUDIT OF NNPC AND STOP FURTHER OIL EXPLORATION IN THE NORTH BUT DIVERT THE SCARCE RESOURCES TO MASSIVE AGRICULTURE OF THE LAND AND ENSURE THE MUCH DESIRED FOOD SECURITY FOR OUR GREAT NATION!
The President should remember that it took him FOUR DESPERATE ATTEMPTS before he mounted the saddle of POWER and should show gratitude to the Almighty God and the Nigerian Electorate, who gave him the golden opportunity of a lifetime by correcting all past errors of commission or omission and prove to the TALAKAWAS that he could still wipe away their TEARS within the limited period of THREE YEARS! It is do-able! “To whom much is given, much is expected!”

To the natural and myopic, the myriads of Nigeria’s  decades of multi-faceted socio-economic/insecurity challenges; now compounded with negative fallouts from Covid-19 pandemic and a threatening global recession would be insurmountable without external assistance!

AND that is why the Presidential team of economic advisers MUST move against the politicians whose only stock in trade is to look outward whenever they met a brick wall in any national, state or local government social contracts – even in electoral lock jams! It is in the public domain that when the main opposition party (PDP), lost both the 2015 and 2019 Presidential Elections, they cried to high heavens and solicited all foreign powers to intervene and reverse the outcome in their favour! It’s like an unbroken chain of attitude for every Nigerian leader to always solicit for external loans from Obasanjo to Buhari, to shore up their ever-ailing economies that had been destroyed through institutional corruption!

BUT THAT SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE BECAUSE THE NATION IS SO BLESSED IN QUANTUM NATURAL MINERAL DEPOSITS WHICH HAVE REMAINED UNTAPPED FOR CENTURIES BY SUCCEEDING ADMINISTRATIONS! ARE THERE CONCRETE OR VISIBLE PROJECTS THAT ACCOUNT FOR NUMEROUS FOREIGN LOANS OTHER THAN EXOTIC VEHICLES FOR EVERY DICK, TOM AND HARRY IN THE PRESIDENTIAL GOVERNMENT THAT PROVIDES FREE BREAD AND BUTTER TO THEIR PADDIES?

QUESTION: What stopped President Buhari from introducing “Socialist Presidency” from 2016 as a committed DEMOCRAT, which he claimed to be, scrap the “dollar-consuming” SENATE, reduce 360-member House of Representatives to 74 and divert all saved monies to equip every household with lands to pursue “mechanized agricultural revolution” to which the Minister of Information recently disclosed had now been allocated with a whooping USD$1.2 billion, which we believe would be quickly put to use and not be left in bank vaults to accrue interests for filthy and unrighteous executors!

QUESTION: What about all of the Abacha Recovered Loots which should have been allocated to the Education, Health and Power Sectors, to complement what is on ground and create more employment opportunities for the citizens?

NIGERIA AS THE FOREIGN CREDITORS SEE IT!  
Nigeria is still regarded as the POVERTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, because of the undisputable fact that between 60-65% of the population able-bodied are idle hands and in spite of the application of all tricks in the books to change the situation, CORRUPTION as the albatross has occupied the driver’s seat of the economy and still riding high in the polity – especially among the politicians.
Street children have multiplied by leaps and bounds to about 13 million.
Health facilities were virtually non-existent until Covid-19 pandemic forced the Federal and State Governments to commence emergency construction of structural medical facilities to accommodate detected confirmed cases that kept rising by the day.
Although the over 10 years of insurgency by Boko Haram is on the brink of total extinction, increased bandits operation in the North Central/West, seemed to be on the increase.
Inflation according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), increased by 12.34% year-on-year in April 2020, the highest since April 2018.
Crude oil still remain the bulk contributor to the economy ( in spite of the sudden crash in international prices due to coronavirus pandemic), contributing about 85%  per cent in spite of the diversification drive towards AGRICULTURE which could provide more foreign currency  earnings if properly handled by righteous officers. (We hear that an embezzlement of over N48 billion naira had been uncovered in that sector and citizens are demanding that the Permanent Secretary, who was being accused be probed without delay), in spite of the fact that the nation was faced with an unprecedented financial crisis since independence!

HOW CAN PRESIDENT BUHARI REQUEST FOR MORE LOANS FROM THOSE WHO CASTIGATE, DESPISE AND DISHONOUR THIS MOST-POPULOUS BLACK NATION AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY; WHEN THEY WITNESS DAILY, THE PRESIDENTIAL CAPITALIST RECKLESSNESS AND WASTAGES IN GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATIONS AT THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVELS!
The SENATE
Having gotten presidential approval and have paid N 55billion naira for National Assembly Legislators FOREIGN CARS AND JEEPS;
Collected N37billion naira for the renovation of the National Assembly Complex, was quick to also approve a foreign loan of USD$ 22.7 dollars for the president to execute fresh critical infrastructures across Nigeria and another N850 billion loan which was a conversion of a planned external loan to domestic borrowing (in a “rub my back …I rub your back” gesture), in spite of the negative fallout of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy!  BUT the nation’s DEBT PROFILE SINCE 2015, which now stands at over N8TRILLION NAIRA AND STILL RISING MUST BE CONTINUALLY SERVICED ACCORDING TO CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT IF NOT RE-NEGOTIATED!!
AND now the President is going again cap in hand to beg for another FRESH FOREIGN LOAN of USD$5.513billion which request had gone to both Chambers of the National Assembly. The loan according to the President was (1) To finance the 2020 Budget deficit, (2) Financing of critical projects and (3) Supporting some States of the Federation! [The same old STORY!]

BREAKDOWN OF LOAN AND LENDERS:
IMF - $3,400,000,000; *World Bank -$1,500,000,000; *African Development Bank - $500,000,000; *Islamic Development Bank, $113,000,000
For the priority projects of Federal Government, the lenders are: African Development Bank - $125 million for support of Nigeria’s response to challenges posed by Covid-19 and Export-Import Bank of Brazil - £995 million, for Green imperative to enhance mechanization of agriculture and agro-processing in Nigeria.
The World Bank, African Export-Import Bank and Export-Import Bank of Brazil, will be lenders for projects to support various projects for State Governments, according to the President in the letters conveyed to NASS, in respect of the said total Loan for USD $5.513 billion, when he also presented a Revised 2020 Appropriation Bill and the 2020-2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to both Chambers since the assumptions underlying the 2020 Appropriation Act were no longer  sustainable due to disruption to global economic activities through Covid-19 pandemic!

QUESTION: Was it not high time we RESISTED THESE RECURRING SHAME OF BORROWING BY COLLECTIVELY CALLING FOR A REFERENDUM ONCE AND FOR ALL? This is a wake-up call to all patriotic Nigerians – The Organized Labour, all Non-Governmental Agencies (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), #  Hamza’s “Follow the money”, ARTISAN, Transport Workers, Farmers, Entertainment Industry etc, etc, to close ranks and say “NO” TO ALL EXTERNAL BORROWINGS!  THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) EL-RUFAI  COMMITTEE ON RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA IN JANUARY 2018, HAD RECOMMENDED THAT URGENT NATIONAL ISSUES WHICH SHOULD NOT BE DELAYED THROUGH NASS PROTOCOL OF UNENDING DEBATE SHOULD BE QUICKLY RESOLVED THROUGH A REFERENDUM, PUBLIC VOTE, POPULAR VOTE OR PLEBISCITE!
QUESTION: What is Referendum?  A general vote by the electorate on a single political decision which has been referred to them for a direct decision.
How does it work? Voting in a Referendum is similar to casting a vote in the Federal election – the key difference is what voters are required to write on their Referendum ballot paper. In a Referendum, voters are required to write either “Yes” or “No” in the box opposite each question on the ballot paper.
Why is Referendum important? It allows citizens, through the petition process to refer acts of the Legislature to the ballot before they become law. The Referendum also permits the Legislature itself to refer proposed legislation to the electorate for approval or rejection.
What makes a Referendum successful? An overwhelming support by all stakeholders as a united front in ensuring succour for the masses and for popular opinion to hold sway! 
Is a Referendum legally binding? Referendums are not legally binding, so legally the Government can ignore their results: for example, even if the result of a pre-legislative referendum were a majority of “No” for a proposed law, Parliament could pass it anyway, because Parliament in some democracies is sovereign.

BUT in Nigeria, SOVEREIGNTY BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE , and as such Referendum would DEFINITELY SAIL THROUGH WHEN PUT TO TEST! Nigerians are disgusted with the nation’s debt portfolio and with one VOICE say, “NO MORE FOREIGN LOANS BUT DEBT FORGIVENESS!” Nigeria’s foreign lenders would gladly cancel the debts in view of the pandemic!  President Buhari will exit on 29th May 2023, - just THREE YEARS AWAY! We expect that he and his economic team will take advantage of Covid-19 pandemic to totally close Nigeria’s land borders just like CHINA did several years back; get every person engaged in agriculture, extractive industry, manufacturing, fabrication, entertainment, film/ performing artistes engagements; SHUN ALL FORMS OF LOANS, grow and ensure FOOD SECURITY and turn around the economy in THREE YEARS, hand over to a younger/vibrant generation with brilliant ideas to continue with a good legacy! NIGERIANS ARE INGENIOUS PEOPLE AND WOULD NOT BE ENSLAVED TO FOREIGNERS BECAUSE OF THE GREED OF A VERY FEW INCONSEQUENTIAL POLITICIANS! “A Word Is Enough For The Wise”!

[TIMELY WARNING TO CITIZENS OF THE WORLD!].

The disastrous effects of Covid-19 pandemic on the United States of America, the most economically-viable, scientifically/technologically-advanced and militarily-powerful nation in the world was due to the pride, arrogance and self conceit of the executive president who failed to believe in the existence of the invisible deadly virus and misled his subjects until it had silently spread like cancer to destroy the people, their economy and their social life!

On 20th January 2020, the first known case of coronavirus was confirmed in the Pacific Northwest state of Washington in a man who had returned from Wuhan on 15th January, but in spite of the surge in deaths across US up till the month of March, 2020, President Trump still prompted disbelief in the US by suggesting to the Surgeon General that the “RISK WAS LOW TO THE AVERAGE AMERICAN”! As at 24th May, 2020, Covid-19 death toll in the US was over 93,000!
The same scenario played out in the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Spain and Brazil, where disbelief and doubts kept the casualty figures kept rising unabated!
When President Trump eventually admitted that Covid-19 was real, he argued that he could not have closed down the greatest economy in the world because of the uncertain rumours of some virus that was yet to be identified!

BRAZIL’S PRESIDENT WAS NO BETTER THAN TRUMP!
Also in the South American country of Brazil where the leadership through its President Jair Bolsonaro, who described Covid-19 pandemic as “little flu”, and where the virus casualty figures have escalated at a furious dimension within the last month, it seems that other nations (including Nigeria), have not let off their guards by deploying all energy through the implementation of modern sanitation/scientific formulas to win the plague!

The Brazilian President disagreed with his State Governors who ordered restrictions on movements and journeys through lockdowns and promptly ordered gyms and beauty salons to operate freely as essential services by claiming that their embargo had caused more damage through lost jobs than the coronavirus itself! He threatened legal action against local governments that would not comply!

FALLOUT OF PRESIDENTIAL SUPPORT FOR CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE TO ALL SOCIAL PRECAUTIONS!
Brazil has become the sixth-worst hit country as it confirmed 11,385 new cases Wednesday 13 May, 2020, bringing its total count to 188,974 cases and 13,149 deaths since the outbreak began! The pandemic has battered Brazil’s economy and residents are forced to shelter at home while many state and local governments instructed most businesses to close to slow the spread of the virus!

In another week, Brazil set an record high for new coronavirus cases within 24 hours, when it reported 19,951 new cases bringing the total to 291,579 confirmed cases, according to the country’s Ministry of Health as at Wednesday 20thMay, 2020! The new surge tops the previous record because deaths increased by 888, bringing the total to 18,859, the ministry added! AND across the world, 106,000 cases were reported to the World Health Organisation (WHO), in a single day since the outbreak began and almost two-thirds of those cases were reported in just FOUR countries – United States, Russia, Brazil and India!

Five countries that have registered more infections than Brazil are the United States, Spain, Russia, the United Kingdom and Italy! More than 4.9 million cases of Coviod-19 have been recorded worldwide and at least 327,000 deaths through Covid-19 globally, as at the time of this publication! In the United States alone, more than 93,000 have died!
NIGERIA’S PARTIAL EASE OF LOCKDOWN MUST NOT GO THE WAY OF BRAZIL – ALL CITIZENS MUST CO-OPERATE!
The frenzy and flurry that greeted commercial activities in the three weeks of partial ease of Coronavirus 6-week lockdown, portrayed complete disregard for the rule of law and an absolute connivance by some unscrupulous law enforcement agents who allegedly collected heavy bribes for non-essential vehicles to flout both the permanent night curfews and the ban on inter/intra state vehicular journeys!
In the cosmopolitan States of Lagos/Ogun, Abuja and later Kano which were believed would be more susceptible international “gateways” to the Covid-19 pandemic stringer measures were put in place to prevent an influx through their borders! But from all available reports, the partial ease of lockdown has led to increase of confirmed Covid-19 cases in those states and other sub national states by their governors across the nation as at Sunday 24th May, 2020! Confirmed cases in Nigeria stood at 7,526, Recovered: 2,174, and Deaths; 221, this Sunday!

CHURCHES AND MOSQUES MUST STILL REMAIN CLOSED TO AVOID SUDDEN COVID-19 UPSURGE!
And while the Federal Government is appealing to citizens to observe all protocols of absolute sanitation of regular washing of hands with soap under running water/ application of hand sanitizers, social/physical distancing, wearing of face masks in all public gatherings, grocery markets/motor parks, using of hand gloves where necessary, restriction to overloading in all vehicular passengers to avoid the spread of the communicable disease through close proximity; Religious and Faith leaders are lobbying the President to permit congregational worship in mosques and churches without further delay!

The Christian Association of Nigeria President Reverend ‘Supo Ayokunle, has urged all Christian leaders to stop the clamour for the re-opening of churches at a time  when there was a steady increase through so much disobedience by citizens who have flouted all official orders in respect of personal sanitation!
Just like their Christian counterpart, some Islamic Clerics have expressed their opinions, for and against congregational worship for the time being.

THE ECONOMY CAN BE MANAGED BY FAITHFUL HANDLERS!
Full re-opening of Nigeria’s economy which is gradually heading towards recession has to be handled with great tact and caution – especially when Crude Oil price is still plummeting to its lowest ebb under USD$17.5 DOLLARS per barrel. From all indication, according to IMF projections, the economy might shrink by 3.4% over a period of one calendar year! It is however expected that the Vice President Osinbajo’s Economic Sustainability Committee set up by President Buhari to evaluate the situation and the re-opening would come up with palliatives to succour the masses as he did when he introduced the Economic Recovery Growth Plan [ERGP].
It is expected that much emphasis must be place on reviving the economy through greater support to the Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs), which constitute the backbone to the larger economy! 

STUBBORNNESS WILL INCUR CORONAVIRUS DEATH HENCEFORTH – DIVINE REVELATION!
The story of Prophet Moses and the Bronze Serpent is very instructive to inform disobedient Nigerians that any further recalcitrance to the gradual ease to Covid-19 lockdown laws and orders would attract instant death! [Numbers. 21:6-9]
(6)And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
(7)Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
( 8)And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
( 9)And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. [Please read the whole Chapter].

BUT THOSE WHO REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE BRONZE SERPENT DIED!
The import of the story is a simple analogy. Those who would hence forth rebel against official instructions in respect of thorough personal sanitation in public places and in any form jeopardize and the safety of others by deliberately and intentionally bent on spreading would be prevented by the Angels of the Lord of Hosts and his blood shall be upon his/her own head!  THE LORD HAS SPOKEN! Only those who are alive will go to work and make money! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
