IT’S BEEN FIVE YEARS OF INTENSIVE CORRUPTION UNDER BUHARI ALSO!

Nigeria’s score of only 25 per cent in the 2020 Transparency International [TI], Corruption Perception Index ranking did not come as surprise to socio-economic critics, political watchers and patriotic citizens at home and the Diaspora because they all saw it coming is spite of President Buhari’s braggadocio in 2015, that he would flush out the parasitic national malaise in no time!
There had been a gradual decline in the nation’s corruption ranking from early independence and long before TI was founded in May 1993; because a military junta overthrew the democratic government in a January 1966 bloody coup for the criminal offences of “corruption, aggrandizement, tribalism, nepotism, etc, etc, took over in successive coups, perpetrated worse forms of institutional corruption, and kept the citizens in abject poverty when they eventually exited following General Sanni Abacha’s demise in 1998! The late General looted the entire treasury and relocated Nigeria’s financial assets into his innumerable overseas bank accounts in spite of the fact that he was custodian of the common patrimony on behalf of the Citizens!

The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be. A country or territories score indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). Denmark and New Zealand top the index chart with 88 points. Syria, Somalia and South Sudan came last with 14, 12, and 12 points respectively.
Nigeria scored 26 points out of 100 on the 2019 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by TI but between 1996 & 2019, the nation’s scores hovered between 26 – 27, while the ratings were between 144 and 146 out of 180 countries!
In 2020, Nigeria scored 25 points which is less than 26 of the previous year and ranked 149th position out of 180 countries!
2020 Corruption Perception Index (CPI), has revealed that even the top 25countries have their share of corruption challenges and the Covid-19 pandemic year has again shown that no country is immune from corruption! Even, the Americas showcase corruption and the mismanagement of funds in one of the regions most affected by the Covid-19 crisis!
TI stated that not only does corruption undermine the global health response to Coviod-19, but it also contributes to a continuing crisis of democracy adding that more than two thirds of countries scored below 50 in 2019, with an average score of just 43! The data shows that despite some progress, most countries still fail to tackle corruption effectively!
In the final analysis, 2020 CPI revealed that wide spread corruption had weakened Covid-19 response and threatened global recovery and whereas, countries that performed well on the index invest more in health care and were better able to provide universal health coverage and were less likely to violate democratic norms and institutions or the rule of law!

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REBUTS AND REJECTS TI’s REPORT!

It is an open secret that Nigeria had never invested heavily in the Health Sector in 60 years as an independent nation!  To an official population of about 250 million citizens, current statistics show that there are 33,303 General Hospitals; 20,278 Primary Health Centres and Posts plus 59 Teaching Hospitals and Federal Medical Centres – a ratio of 450,324 citizens to ONE health facility!
AND apart from the fact that there were only 50 Covid-19 Pandemic Testing Centres across Nigeria’s Federal Health Institutions up to November 2019, and also limited structures for Isolation of infected persons in the midst of the tragic effects of the parasitic infections, food palliatives meant to succor indigent citizens BUT were corruptly locked up in concealed Warehouses in most States, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were exposed and looted by rioters who hijacked the #EndSars #End Police Brutality, Protests in October 2019!
Some state governors who were caught up in the despicable act and castigated on the social media, shamelessly said that they “preserved those food palliatives for distribution during an anticipated SECOND WAVE of the covid-19 Pandemic”!
There were also allegations that the Front Line Health Workers [inclusive of medical doctors, nurses, auxiliary staff, the health technicians/engineers, who take care of medical equipments and facilities], were continuously deprived of their regular financial allowances in spite of the fact they were daily exposed to infections through many of them had died!
How much did Nigeria invest to combat Covid-19 Pandemic – both at the national and states levels? In April 2020, Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed disclosed that a Crisis Intervention Fund of N500 billion naira [US$ 1.39 billion], to sourced “as loans from various special government accounts plus grants and loans from multilateral institutions”, would be created and utilized to upgrade health care facilities. During the same period, Nigeria was to befit from IMF US$ 50 billion emergency financing facilities for 80 countries including 20 from Africa!
The World Bank also approved a US$ 14 billionCovid-19 response package, which Nigeria hoped to benefit from as well! In addition, the Central Bank also launched a drive to raise N 120 billion naira from private sector to source equipment and infrastructure to fight the pandemic!
AND in spite of the above facts and numerous other acts of INSTITUTIONAL CORRUPTION during the on-going pandemic, the Federal Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, had the effrontery and audacity to make the following statements to castigate the TI’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI), as follows: *That the perception did not truly reflect the great strides by Nigeria in its fight against corruption. *That there were missing assessments that should affect the overall rating.
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation also commented, that “the report do not corroborate the facts on ground …. In terms of the fight against corruption, we have done more and we will continue to do more out of inherent conviction and desire on our part to fight against corruption devoid of any extraneous considerations relating to the rating by Transparency International.”

CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS DURING OBJ's TENURE!

The following allegations which have not been denied, trailed OBJ throughout his eight-year tenure of presidency as follows: * That he had only N20.000 (twenty thousand naira), in his bank account on release from prison in 1998 - but in those two terms in office it was very easy for him to become a multi-billionaire! * That he corrupted himself through NNPC and PTDF, as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources, and through the Shipping, Communications/Industrial Sectors - especially NPA, NITEL, and TRANSCORP!
That, he acquired and funded large FARMS in the six geo-political zones with over N 2 billion naira, "borrowed" from United Bank for Africa, (UBA)! * That OBJ subtly approved for PTDF (was under his supervision), without recourse to Federal Executive Council (FEC), on the same day, two tranches of N 20 billion naira and N10 billion naira respectively which were never accounted for subsequently! * That his administration spent over N16 billion naira on phantom Power Projects! * There were also allegations of his involvement in bribery scandals in respect of the Halliburton and Siemens Contracts against some highly-placed government officials and retired Nigerian Presidents! *That it was during Obasanjos's era that the Executive lobbied Legislators with GHANA MUST GO BRIBE MONEY BAGS for approval of illegal favours! * That he was NEPOTIST in his appointments to the extent of presenting a rejected ministerial nominee before the Senate for FOUR times until the legislators succumbed! OBJ sold all government's critical infrastructures, including legislative/civil servants quarters, for PEA NUTS, to his political associates/cronies in order to achieve his third term desire!
“STEALING IS NOT CORRUPTION”. ACCORDING TO EX-PRESIDENT EBELE JONATHAN!
EX-President Jonathan took over from his principal who passed away suddenly in 2010 and like Emperor NERO of Rome, was lasvicious in office and under his very nose corruption festered without restrictionat all levels of government –the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary – through the tacit support of CIVIL SERVANTS in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies [MDS’s], and by the time he lost to the incumbent President Buhari in 2015, CORRUPTION WALKED ON ITS HEAD IN NIGERIA; and he left behind an almost empty treasury

HAS BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT FAIRED BETTER IN WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION? NO!
TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REDUCTION OF CORRUPTION TO ALL GOVERNMENTS!
*Strengthen oversight institutions to ensure resources reach those most in need. Anti-corruption authorities and oversight institutions must have sufficient funds, resources and independence to perform duties.
*Ensure open and transparent contracting to combat wrongdoing, identify conflicts of interests and ensure fair pricing.
*Defend democracy and promote civic space to create the enabling conditions to hold governments accountable, AND,
*Publish relevant data and guarantee access to information to ensure the public receives easy, accessible, timely and meaningful information.

WILL NIGERIA AND HIS CABINET CHANGE NIGERIA’S NARRATIVE OF CORRUPTION INDEX BEFORE THEIR EXIT IN 2023?

Nigerian government always debunked the annual reports by claiming that the international body was oblivious of the achievements of the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against corruption!
Previous research by TI’s Global Health programme found that corruption deprives the global health sector of US$500 billion dollars annually!
Should this be a time to reject an authentic global report which would improve government/citizen’s relationship in the quest to eliminate institutional corruption and promote righteousness, equity, fair play and justice or a time to accept the truth execute the very explicit recommendations in order to move up the ladder among the top nations? The latter of this very salient question should be adopted to improve the lot of the TALAKAWAS who have always suffered maladministration of several years of mismanagement of scarce national resources! “A Word is sufficient for the wise!

ARE FULANI HERDERS AND THE COWS MORE SACRED TO THE PRESIDENCY?

Every Nigerian citizen has fundamental right to acquire and own immovable property anywhere in Nigeria according to Chapter IV, Section 43 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999; while Section 44 discourages compulsory acquisition of such property by any interest group without prompt payment according to the law.
According to the Land Use Act Of 1978, all lands belong to the Federal Government of Nigeria, while State Governors act as chief custodians of lands under their jurisdiction to be held in TRUST for the people and allocated as deem fit!
Can State lands be compulsorily be legitimately or compulsorily acquired by individual citizens or groups of citizens according to the Constitution? NO!
However the Ondo Forest Reserves made headlines when the Federal Government through Presidential spokes person, Garba Shehu, cautioned Governor Rotimi Akeredolu [SAN], from evicting Fulani communities/pastoralists who illegally occupied the reserves had constitutional rights to dwell in any part of the country without molestation!

SEVEN-DAY ULTIMATUM TO QUIT FOREST RESERVES!

Ondo State according to security reports has recorded multiple criminal activities of kidnappings, banditry, armed robberies, including assassinations in recent times which ultimately compelled the Governor, who is the Chief Security Officer, to issue a seven-day ultimatum for the Fulani forest dwellers to move into the cities for security operatives to flush out criminals who use the forest reserves as hide outs!
The four-point order compelled herdsmen:
* To vacate unsecured Forest Reserves within seven days with effect from Monday 18th January, 2021;
* Prohibition of night-grazing during which most farms were destroyed;
* Movement of cattle within cities was prohibited;
* Under-aged grazing of cattle would run foul of the law!
AND the Governor said those decisions were taken to guarantee safety of lives and properties within his domain and urged law enforcers to ensure compliance!

BUHARI WANTS TO FULANISE/ISLAMISE NIGERIA!

When ex-President Aremu Obasanjo accused the incumbent Nigerian leader of “FULANISING AND ISLAMISING” Nigeria, most citizens of the Northern Geo-Political Zones and some from the South [including our editorial board], raised eye brows and condemned him for being a tribalist who intended to heat up the polity and destabilise the fragile peace of the nation!
But then rumours began to fly around that some Fulani heavyweight cabal in President Buhari’s government and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association [MACBAN], massively funded both the first and second elections of Mr. President and would definitely pressurize him not to succumb to any Bill contrary to promoting the welfare of the Fulani pastoralists over and above all other 249 tribes!

MACBAN represents the interest of about 100,000 Fulani semi-nomads and nomads who migrated from some North and West African countries only to settle in Nigeria where they have enjoyed booming trades before and after Nigeria’s independence!
Fulanis who speak the same Fulfulde language freely claim the nationality of any host country of their residency because no immigration/security operative can notice any difference between those of Mali, Sierra-Leone, Chad, Cameroun, Ethiopia, Nigeria nor Niger Republics, because they all have identical features and resemblances!  
AND so it was very convenient for Fulani criminal pastoralists to commit crimes in Nigeria and escape to Niger or Chad without being caught and also could be engaged as terrorists/bandits/mercenaries because they could easily use their cows for cover as they migrate or escape from one State to another or country to country!

And since their interests are being protected by the cabal at highest level of government in Nigeria through MACBAN which has also assumed another strategic role as official NEGOTIATOR, which ensured the release of over 300 Kankara Science Secondary School boys in Bornu State recently, the Fulani Pastoralists have or are becoming an influential force to be reckoned with in President Buhari’s Administration!
What is a Cabal? A secret political clique or faction – a group of clinchers who influence government’s policies from behind the scenes to always favour their ego without minding whose ox is gored!
It became an open secret that they existed in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government from 2015 to date when an authentic testifier in the person of Mrs. Aisha Buhari, exposed them to the world during the first tenure of her husband as the REMOTE CONTROL behind the scene!
From all indications, President Buhari could neither tame nor expunge them from the system because they hold him by the jugular to pay back all election favours that have put him in power those TWO TIMES in spite of all odds!
In the past five years our Editorial Board had consistently/persistently supported the Buhari’s APC Administration because we believed he could be Nigeria’s “messiah” who would rescue the frustrated masses – the talakawas – from the neo-colonialist agenda of consecutive PDP governments of 16 years which turned the citizens into abject poverty, squalor, degradation and slavery in their own country!

Now in his second term when it has become obvious the whole world that President Buhari was totally sold to the Cabal who MUST have their “pound of flesh” at all costs, We owe it as a duty to always continue to publish the TRUTH, and expose all hidden “skeletons”!
Previously, We claimed that President Buhari was well prepared for the number one job and we were not wrong because he chose a very capable Vice President in the person of Prof. ‘Yemi Osinbajo, [SAN], who held fort when he was out of the country due to health issues for 190 days during the first tenure!
When the President eventually recuperated, the cabal swiftly moved in to sow a seed of discord and almost succeeded in influencing him to drop Osinbajo in his second term bid!

PRESIDENT BUHARI HAS BECOME UNPOPULAR – EVEN IN THE NORTH!

An avalanche of criticisms from local and international watchers include but not limited to the following:
Failing to tackle corruption, insecurity and the economy .......
Unable to curb violent kidnappings for ramsom spread across Nigeria .....
Failure to always address the nation at critical time of disasters or calamities - #EndSars#EndPolice Brutality protests
Failure to visit Federal Troops in the trenches over the years!
Refusal to fire tired Service Chiefs which led to tactical error and slaughtering of 43/78 Rice Farmers in Bornu State!
Insensitivity to the plight of Citizens who have become traumatized due constant threat to their lives and properties at home, on the highways etc

LAUDABLE BENEFITS OF TRUE FEDERALISM AS CONTAINED IN APC's GOLDEN DOCUMENT ARE GATHERING DUST IN THE PRESIDENT DRAWERS FOR THREE YEARS!

The Governor El Rufai-led Committee on True Federalism, submitted its very detailed report on Thursday 25th January, 2018, on the following planks: (1) Devolution of powers to the States through Resource Control. (2) State Police and State Prisons to be run by all States of the Federation in respect of certain crimes. (3) Independent candidacy which can only be enjoyed if such candidate was not a member of any political party, six months prior to any election. (4) There should exist constitutional autonomy for the 774 Local Governments, which should be free to legislate freely and create any number of councils as they so desired. (5) Food, Drugs and poison to be moved to the Concurrent List so that States could constitutionally legislate on those items, while narcotics/psychotropic substances should remain on the Exclusive List.  (6) Labour issues, trade unions, industrial relations, conditions, safety/welfare, disputes/minimum wages/ industrial arbitration, should be handled by both States/Federal Governments who should enjoy independent legislation. (7) Mines and minerals, oil fields and mining, geological surveys and natural gas that are ONSHORE will be vested in all States of the Federation, while all OFF-SHORE OIL shall remain vested in the government of the federation. (8) Registration of Business Names should be on the Concurrent List for companies to choose their areas of operations; State or nationwide. (9) Collection of Stamp Duties was also recommended to be moved to the Concurrent List, for the States to collect duties from individual and small businesses while Federal Government collects duties from Limited Liabilities Companies. (10) Issue of Citizenship, Local Government or State of Origin, which had hitherto been discriminatory, "should be replaced with State of Residence", through a proposed amendment to the Federal Character Commission Act to allow people domicile in a place to be considered as INDIGENES of such place.

IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE PRESIDENT’S CHOICE OF ADVISERS WAS MYOPIC AND NEPOTISTIC! THEY HAVE BOXED HIM INTO A CORNER! BUT HE MUST FIGHT BACK AS A SOLDIER THAT HE IS; AND FOR STARTERS, HE SHOULD SEND AN EXECUTIVE BILL TO NASS FOR THE SCRAPPING OF THE SENATE AND REDUCTION OF MEMBERS OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM 360 TO 74 BEFORE HIS HAND-OVER DATE OF 29TH MAY 2023

Why would the above report on which million of millions was expended to harness should remain unimplemented for three solid years and only for government to say that its IMPLEMENTATION could only be done by the National Assembly [NASS] that gulps over N125 billion naira from annual budgets plus “EXECUTION” of illegal CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS AND PROFESSIONAL BUDGET PADDING OF RE-WRITING, RE-INVENTING, RE-STRUCTURING ETC?
President should strike with the option of REFERENDUM which We have consistently advocated? All patriots and the 60per cent YOUTH POPULATION will back him up!
It is never too late for CHANGE! A Word is enough for the wise!

NIGERIA TO BORROW FROM DEAD CITIZENS!

Listening to President Muhammadu Buhari’s “economic diversification-laden” speech as elucidated in his 2021 New Year broadcast, one was bound to believe that those highfalutin ideas were not predicated on fresh borrowings, highlighted in an inflated 2021 Federal Budget already signed into law but through articulate Internally Generated Revenue sources!
Although he made veiled attempts to convince Nigerians that economic diversification from crude oil/gas to agriculture, solid minerals extraction, was given priority attention since his assumption of office in 2015 BUT in actual fact CRUDE OIL remains virtually the LIVE WIRE as the major foreign exchange earner for the nation’s survival!
It is no longer a secret that the National Economic Council (NEC), constitutionally chaired by the Vice President, Prof. ‘Yemi Osinbajo, [SAN], was quickly relegated to the background as soon as the President fully recovered from several bouts of illnesses that kept him abroad from the seat of power for over nine months of the first term in spite of the herculean efforts to revamp an economy in recession from Quarter 2 of 2016!
BUT it is on record that the Professor and his economic team quickly introduced the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan [ERGP], tonic which worked the miracle!

A PERTINENT QUESTION: IS PROFESSOR OSINBAJO STILL IN CHARGE OF EITHER NEC, ERGP OR THE BUHARI’S HURRIEDLY-CONSTITUTED 2018 ECONOMIC ADVISORY COUNCIL [AEC], deliberately packaged to sideline and relegate the Vice President to the background in the affairs and governance of NIGERIA? NO!
But President Buhari’s advisers/handlers should have checked out Osinbajo’s pedigree/antecedent as an erudite lawyer, a Professor of Law/University Lecturer, former Lagos State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a Servant of the Most High God, a great achiever of no mean stature [at home and abroad], AND DISCOVER THAT HE CAN NEVER BE A PUSH-OVER through any unlawful means or political force!   
COMMENTS: When the un-envisaged Covid-19 Virus Pandemic hit the world, the Buhari’s AEC was caught gasping for ideas and Mr. President had no choice than to reluctantly resort to refer the group to the ERGP Author, for the right solutions to keep the economy on course! 

AN UNENDING DEFICIT BUDGET!

On 8h October, 2020, the President submitted a proposed sum of N13.08 trillion budget appropriation to the National Assembly (NASS), which jerked it up by N505 billion and passed the sum of N13.588 trillion on as the new figure for 2021, and it was appended without objection in order to maintain the newly-introduced January to December budget cycle!
According to the fiscal document, a sum of N5.6 trillion will be borrowed from external/domestic sources to fund the deficit budget of N13.8 trillion naira; a fixed amount of N2.34 trillion will be borrowed from both sources while another N709.69 billion, will be borrowed from multilateral and bilateral sources according to Minister of Finance and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed!
An amount of N3.32 trillion (24.5%) and (12.6%), higher than the revised 2020 Budget will be paid to SERVICE debts; - a sum of N3.27trillion was spent in 2020 for the same purpose, while N3.19 trillion was spent on salaries and pensions according to the minister!
Government also projected revenue of N7.99trillion, which is 36% higher than the 2020 projection of N5.84 trillion from which 30%/70% will accrue from oil-related and non-oil sources respectively according to the minister who also confirmed an aggregate 2021 capital expenditure of N4.37trillion naira (32.29%), of total expenditure and 62.8% higher than the revised 2020 Revised Budget!
She further said that government projected N9.97trillion expenditure for 2020, but spent N10.08 trillion, an excess of N1.8 trillion on capital infrastructure by December, out of which N118.3billion, was for Covid-19 capital expenditure.
The Minister, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, who disclosed all of the above, during the 2021 Budget breakdown said that the document tagged, “Budget of Economic Recovery and Resilience”, would be diligently executed to cover all grounds.
However, her claim in respect of non- provisions during a virtual presentation for Oil Subsidy in the 2021 Budget was still controversial and should be taken with a “pinch of salt” because, PPPRA, a subsidiary of NNPC still dictated the outrageous price of up to N170 naira per litter of PMS [PMS] in January! According to her, no provisions were made for both “fuel and electricity” subsidies in the 2021 Budget!

BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT TO BORROW FROM LIVING AND DEAD TALAKAWAS!

The sum of N850 billion would be borrowed from dividends and dormant accounts as part of funding the 2021 Budget!
On Tuesday, 12th January, 2021, Minister of Finance and National Planning gave the data which she described as “a special trust fund” which government would keep in “trust” for bona fide beneficiaries would be accessible on demand at any time on confirmation by bank registrars!
Dormant Accounts that dotted the various Nigerian banks are owned by poor Nigerians who could not cope with the modern trends of banking institutions which are fraught with all manner of directives that dispossessed customers of their hard-earned funds at every point to favour their operational activities! Open or secret charges include but not limited to: account maintenance fees ATM withdrawal bank fee, bank fee for overdraft, wire transfer bank fees, monthly charges for provision of account etc.

ECONOMY:
Revamping the economy through national economic diversification agenda to ensure FOOD SUFFICIENCY and reduce inflation in spite of Covid-19 Pandemic   has been the primary goal of government. This measure is to be complimented with the rebuilding of the national infrastructure base; rehabilitation, modernization and expansion of the RAILWAY, NATIONAL ROADS AND BRIDGES in rural/urban centres and not excluding – AIRPORTS/SEAPORTS.
Reforms in the Power Sector, according to the President would guarantee increased efficiency to expand generation/distribution of ELECTRICITY to homes and factories.
He also said that the recent opening of the land border should resuscitate legitimate trade and commerce with West African neighbours and also boost the fortunes small businesses/agricultural enterprises.

ANTI-CORRUPTION:
The President claimed a pass mark in the fight against corruption and promised greater effectiveness through review of some laws to ensure timely/diligent prosecution of corruption cases with the co-operation of the judiciary!

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT:
President Buhari did not forget to reiterate his promise to create more employment opportunities in the new year for the youths and to quickly implement the #FIVE-FOR-FIVE demands of the LEGITIMATE #ENDSARS-END POLICE BRUTALITY PROTESTERS OF October, 2020! He also promised effective/equitable distribution of Covid-19 Pandemic vaccines as they were received!
2021 BUDGET OF ECONOMIC RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE! [Please find below excerpts of our publication on the subject in our 375th Edition of 18th October, 2020].

Who would not be surprised at Nigeria’s very ambitious 2021 debt-ridden Appropriation Bill, totaling an incredible amount of N13.8 trillion naira at this austere period of the Covid-19 pandemic/threatening economic recession, other than the super rich political leaders whose penchant for budget padding in the forms of “re-writing, re-inventing, re-engineering, re-producing, etc, has become classic in presentation, such that at the stage of final approval, the Constitutional Author of the Bill is flung in different directions of confusion; a feat that has not been rivaled in any part of the world!

According to figures submitted by the President in this particular budget, a whooping sum of N3.1TRILLION NAIRA would be SPENT on DEBT SERVICING ALONE AND NOT DEBT RE-PAYMENT!   From 1999 till date, no Nigerian Executive-prepared Budget had ever had a smooth sail through National Assembly Legislators who misinterpret, misuse and abuse their oversight functions over other tiers to mean manipulation of the FINANCIAL DOCUMENT (which determines the fate of the economy, citizens’ livelihood and security), to expressly bloat their whims and caprices through surreptitious appropriation of funds to dubious constituency projects that were never executed by the law makers!

HOW WOULD ACCUMULATED DEBTS BE PAID BACK?

Stop further borrowings! Block all wastages in the Executive and Legislative! Introduce UNICAMERAL LEGISLATURE OF 74 Lawmakers! THE SENATE MUST BE SCRAPPED disbanded, dissolved deleted, erased to pay off substantial part of that aggravated debt! It is long overdue for the upper house of the NASS to be locked up and its keys thrown into River Niger! Nigeria's Senate of the FOURTH REPUBLIC from 1999, had served - with very few exceptions - as a CONFLUENCE OF GREEDY POLITICIANS (discredited ex-governors, expired civil servants, ex-Commissioners/Ministers, political jobbers, etc), who are sworn enemies of downtrodden masses who neither voted for them nor were even aware of their representation, to date!
Negotiate for DEBT FORGIVENESS with Foreign Lenders, World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), London Paris Club in view of the negative effects of Covid-19 pandemic on World economy including a threatening universal recession!
Diversify massively into agriculture, the extractive, entertainment, film, tourism etc.
In spite of the HUGE DEBT BURDEN the President was optimistic that the 2021 Budget, would deliver on the Government's Economic Sustainability Plan goals, accelerate the pace of Nigeria's economic recovery, promote economic diversification, enhance competitiveness and ensure social inclusion with the support of the Finance Bill 2020 to be passed along with the fresh budget! DO YOU BELIEVE?

The Debt Management Office (DMO), has disclosed that Nigeria’s total debt Stock (Foreign and Domestic), as at JUNE 2020, hit N31.01 trillion naira or US$ 85.9 billion dollars.”Nigeria’s public debt grew by US$22.09 billion in the last FIVE YEARS of President Buhari’s Administration, indication an increase of 34.6%!  WHO WILL PAY ALL THOSE DEBTS? THE PRESIDENT AND HIS ECONOMIC TEAM MUST ANSWER TO THE PEOPLE NOW! “Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to all people.” (Proverbs. 14:34)

America’s first President, Military General, George Washington’s sterling legacies that earned him the prestigious title of “Father of the Nation”, were thrown to the dogs when the defeated 45th President, Donald Trump, on Wednesday, 6th, January, 2021, incited his Republican Party extremists to invade, attack and desecrate the hallowed Chambers of Capitol Buildings, Washington D.C., to disrupt Congress certification of President Joe Biden’s and Vice President Kamala Harris victory at the November 3rd, 2020, Presidential election!

Events of the certification had to be paused when the Capitol was put under lockdown and it took tons of security details several hours to quell the uproar and arrest several of the hoodlums before the building could be properly secured!   

It was an unprecedented shock to the whole world which had regarded the United States as the bastion of democracy, a role model of modern political administration with articulate precision in the most sophisticated information technologically-motivated and mobilized governance, to watch live on social media, desecration of the highly-revered Capitol Buildings by misguided American citizens!

Capitol Building situated in Washington, the US capital since 1880, housed both the Senate and House of Representatives Chambers known as the US Congress, where the nations laws are created, debated and enacted; also where presidents are inaugurated and render State of Union addresses regularly as at when due!

Historical records show that President George Washington approved the architectural designs of the Capitol for their “grandeur, simplicity and beauty”.
Republican Party thugs broke through Police barriers into the historic building, smashed windows, doors, terrace, balconies into Senators and House of Representatives offices, vandalized hallways, statues, stole furnishings and belongings of politicians who had scampered for safety underneath tables, chairs, cupboards etc, !

According to Historians, this breach on the Capitol happened to be the second; the first being the British troops attack and incendiary of the building in August of 1814, following the Battle of Bladensburg as part of the war of 1812!

The Wednesday shameful incident claimed FOUR LIVES, including that of an Air force ex-service woman who travelled several kilometers from her base to join the protesters!

IS TRUMP ABOVE THE LAW? NO!

AND whereas, Trump, like a “Mafioso”, had assembled his unruly gangsters to disrupt and force incumbent Vice President, Mike Pence, who chaired the joint session of the Congress, to step out of his constitutional bounds to overturn results of the concluded election in favour of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at the ongoing session for certification to perfect the following PREMEDITATED ACTS:
*That he would protest if the 3rd November, 2020, presidential election did not favour him.... *declared himself winner when counting and collation had hardly begun .. *described Joe Biden’s higher electoral votes as “stolen”.... *sponsored hooliganism by inciting Republican Party fanatics to attack the Capitol Buildings in Washington D.C.; *said he would not attend Joe Biden’s inauguration on 20th January, 2021.

In spite of the fact that diplomatic/economic relations between the Republics of Nigeria and South Africa [SA], was being midwife to erase lopsidedness in favor of the latter, South Africans in Pretoria, descended on foreigners- especially Nigerians on 18th February, 2017, in a reign of terror which resulted in burning down properties worth millions of US dollars….xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in 2016 consumed 26 lives… though SA had more business interests in Nigeria to make them tread softly in matters regarding immigration…. All over Africa and the world at large, Donald Trump’s speech had engendered escalation of hostilities between host countries and immigrants….!

OBAMA'S LEGACIES OF GOOD GOVERNANCE CANNOT BE RUBBISHED BY DONALD TRUMP!   [202ND Edition of 25th June 2017.]

The 45th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump is fast becoming the most controversial politician on planet earth through his compulsive, unguarded and undiplomatic policy utterances and decisions which tend to border on divisive tendencies and racism! One of the most grievous in his long list of controversies within SIX MONTHS in the White House, was America's  pull out from the PARIS CLIMATE CHANGE AGREEMENT ((Accord de Paris), signed by about 200 countries with most Presidents/Heads of State and Governments in attendance on 13th December, 2015, including his predecessor BARAK OBAMA - the first Black American President!
Donald Trump could not hide his disdain for all the laudable achievements of former President Obama, during the latter's EIGHT YEARS tenure, just as America's WHITE KLU KLUX KLAN FRATERNITY hates the BLACKS with vicious passion! He pledged to repeal and replace OBAMACARE -  his predecessor's attempt to extend HEALTHCARE  to the estimated 15% of the population who were not covered and he seems to be succeeding with the tacit support of his Republican Party members in the House of Representatives, who believed that the law imposed too many costs and an unwarranted intrusion into the affairs of private businesses and individuals. However this move is still in abeyance, since it is yet to pass through the SENATE, which has promised to re-write he whole bill because of strong opposition by doctors, medical industry and Democrats! He also threatened to reverse the deal that Obama struck with CUBA to re-establish diplomatic and trade relation after about 46 years (1961-2015) of strained relations, but later back-pedaled.

AMERICA'S RENOWN AS A WORLD POWER never diminished during Obama's tenure but was highly boosted with the capture and execution of al Qaeda’s Commander, Bin Laden, whose terrorists crashed through the nation's very tight land and air security/defense network with FOUR high jacked commercial airliners and carried out co-ordinated suicide attacks against targets in which 2,977 people were killed in the US on September 11, 2001! The United States during Obama's Admistration also supported several African States including Nigeria, in their war against insurrection, insurgency and terrorism for them to maintain their territorial integrity and actualize economic potentials for their downtrodden masses.

“DEATH TO AMERICA”, “DEATH TO IRAN” “DEATH TO THREAT TO GLOBAL PEACE!”

It was precisely 30 months ago, in July 2017, when the United States of America and North Korean Presidents flexed both nuclear/arsenal muscles and threatened a Third World War to prove who was superior in warfare strategies! Though there existed a loose United Nations international convention which banned acquisition, accumulation, engagement, or deployment of nuclear warheads against member nations, both countries threatened to destroy each other without consideration for their innocent mass of people who would suffer the tragic consequences! They displayed hostile attitude and military threats which in the ensuing conflict, agitated global panic among the peaceful and law-abiding citizens of the world over inordinate ambition!
That America’s military/arsenal prowess is highly sophisticated, shoulder-high and above other nations is not in doubt! The United States Air Force and the Navy are the deadliest and most vicious in the world and their ground forces are, by all standards, the most intimidating in military operations and armed combat warfare! And it was exactly for those reasons that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), sued for peaceful co-existence among the United Nations (UN), since the end of World War II in 1945!

THE CHOICE OF JOE BIDEN IS, “AMERICA FIRST’’! [378th Edition, 8th November, 2020.]

President Donald Trump was a green horn in American politics in 2016 but he flew a kite called “America First” which caught the attention of a great majority of the electorate who voted overwhelmingly to put him in the White House as the most powerful man in the world! But that slogan turned out to be a hoax because the out-going president in his four-year tenure did everything that was completely opposite to his gospel of an American dream!

First, he waged a war against immigrants through a blanket ban on existing travel concessions when the nation’s history clearly states that America is a conglomeration of immigrants from virtually all countries of the world!
Secondly, he cancelled the “Obama Care” Health Scheme purposely programmed for the low income groups among the populace to access cheaper medical care!
Thirdly, he pulled out the US from the World Climate Change Forum of world leaders and refused to contribute America’s financial obligation to the world body!
Fourthly, he deliberately polarized the United States by paying greater attention to the Red States (Republican), than the Blue States (Democrats), in the allocation of socio-economic amenities! Etc, etc
Fifthly, Trump pulled out of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a military alliance between 30 North American and European countries established since 1949, following the end of World War II, to safeguard the Allies freedom and security by political and military means for mutual advantage by claiming that his country did not benefit from the arrangement
Sixth, he condemned his country’s security architecture, the FBI, CIA, POLICE, IMMIGRATION etc, during the probe which investigated his involvement in the Russian Hacking of US Electoral process which gave victory to him in 2016!

US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – BIDEN IN, TRUMP OUT!
Following the incited violent assault on the Capitol Buildings, President  elect, Joe Biden said  Donald Trump would be remembered in history as the “WORST PRESIDENT AMERICA EVER HAD” TRUE OR FALSE? “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people morn.”[Proverbs.29:2 KJV].

   BISHOP MATTHEW SPOKE BITTER TRUTH NOT PARABLES!

Parable is a fiction used to elucidate moral principles mostly in religious conversations or teachings in order to expose ethical truths of a discussion!

Sixty-eight-old Roman Catholic Bishop Kukah, an indigene of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria, and current head of the Sokoto Diocese, a very outspoken and critic of bad governance, in his 2020 Christmas Message exposed the indisputable truth that President Muhammadu Buhari’s penchant for NEPOTISM was the root cause of insecurity, political and economic crisis in Nigeria; not in a parable but as those evil issues had consistently manifested in Buhari’s 66-month-old administration!

Those assertions and many more truths raised in the Man of God’s treatise, jolted President Buhari’s political surrogates, sycophants, service chiefs, and the entire gamut of operatives of the various security networks and Coalition of Northern Groups some of who were audacious to assert that the Bishop had called for a military coup and should be promptly arrested, charged for the offence of treason or taken before the International Court of Justice [ICC], at the Hague, for prosecution!

They also claimed that his “outburst” was an attempt to cause violence along religious differences which could lead to a type of genocide as witnessed in the country of Rwanda in 1994!

ARE THE FOLLOWING ASSERTIONS IN RESPECT OF INSECURITY MANIFESTING IN NIGERIA OR NOT?

Incessant bloodshed through killings by Boko Haram terrorists, extra-judicial summary executions, invasions by bandits across the nation, sorrow and death at Christmas through bombings of worship places, for example, St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madala, Abuja, on Christmas Day, 2011!

Domestic/community violence, random kidnappings of school children, first at Chibok, Bornu State, then Dapchi, Adamawa State and Kankara, Katsina, the President’s State, which was also a bee-hive of orchestrated banditry!
A collapsed economy, double-digit inflation culminating into another season of recession etc/

NNAMDI KANU A PROFESSED SECESSIONIST!

When the leader of the proscribed secessionist Movement of the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra [MASSOB], fugitive Nnamdi Kanu came out boldly to declare that the Eastern States of Nigeria should be ceded to form a separate republic, he was roundly condemned by patriots, arrested and arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction before he absconded and jumped bail!

But when the Muslim Rights Concern [MURIC], Arewa Youth Forum, [AYF], Miyetti Allah, the Fulani Socio-Cultural Association and some leaders of thought of the Northern extraction, regularly advocated a break up of North and the South along tribal/religious line from the inception of President Muhammadu Buhari’s, nepotistic-inclined administration, from 2015 to date, heaven did not fall and no group has been arrested for foisting secessionist agenda!

Nigeria, as presently constituted under the 1999 Military crafted Constitution of the Federal Republic, did not make provision for disintegration or dismemberment of the conglomerate, therefore no group of people within the national entity could opt out of the federation under any reason or guise!
In addition, it is clearly spelt out in the sacred document that a coup de tat in any disguise will be regarded as an aberration, tantamount to treasonable felony and punishable by death!

BISHOP KUKAH HAS SAID THE MIND OF NIGERIANS.

The fearless, faithful, truthful and indefatigable Catholic cleric in the year 2020 Christmas message to Nigerians at home and the Diaspora titled “A Nation in Search of Vindication”, spoke against  injustice and degradation of life which placed an insignificant percentage of the population in positions of leadership over the larger masses, play the role of task masters, live larger than life, in stupendous opulence amidst tears of weeping, gnashing of teeth, agony and pain of citizens they gleefully refer to as “poor masses”!

Bishop Kukah strongly believes that only the truth can set the citizens free in the face of subtle tyranny of maladministration which always constituted dark clouds of death at every Christmas!

AND We affirm that if the heterogeneous language, tribal, cultural, and religious sentiments of Nigeria are placed in the right perspectives, the nation’s diversity should be harnessed to advantage rather than rancor and commotion in national conversations and discussions!

Antagonists of Matthew Kukah claimed that he was anti-Buhari because Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was his preferred candidate in the 1999 Presidential Election lost to the incumbent and not because he was concerned about the plight of the citizens as such!

BELLOW ARE OTHER KUKAH’S CONCERNS OVER INSECURITY IN NIGERIA – ARE THEY TRUE OR FALSE?
He predicted, “ Another Christmas with Dark Clouds of Death!” TRUE – Boko Haram terrorists attacked Pemi Village, about 20 km to Maiduguri, on Christmas eve, killed at least seven people, burnt down several houses and looted tons of food items!
Let me paraphrase the holy prophet Isaiah who said: “For Jerusalem (Nigeria’s sake), I will not be silent until her vindication shines forth like the dawn…..No more shall people call you forsaken, or your land desolate, but you shall be called my delight and your land espoused.” (Is. 62:1,4).

Against the backdrop of our endless woes, ours has become a nation wrapped in desolation. The prospects of a failed state stare us in the face: endless bloodletting, a collapsing economy, social anomie, domestic and community violence, kidnappings, armed robberies etc. Ours has become a house of horror with fear stalking our homes, highways, cities, hamlets and entire communities. - ….. we are not faced with a crisis or conflict between Christians and Muslims. Rather, like the friends of Job, we need to humbly appreciate the limits of our human understanding. Terror is a product of hate, but while hate tries to divide us, terror and death should pull us together. The larger issues now are whether the federal government understands the evil web of intrigues into which Boko Haram has tied it. Will the federal government continue to reward and fund Boko Haram by playing its game? – TRUE!

A Nation in Search of Vindication:

This government owes the nation an explanation as to where it is headed as we seem to journey into darkness. The spilling of this blood must be related to a more sinister plot that is beyond our comprehension. Are we going to remain hogtied by these evil men or are they gradually becoming part of a larger plot to seal the fate of our country?

President Buhari deliberately sacrificed the dreams of those who voted for him to what seemed like a programme to stratify and institutionalize northern hegemony by reducing others in public life to second class status. He has pursued this self-defeating and alienating policy at the expense of greater national cohesion. Every honest Nigerian knows that there is no way any non-Northern Muslim President could have done a fraction of what President Buhari has done by his nepotism and gotten away with it. There would have been a military coup a long time ago or we would have been at war. The President may have concluded that Christians will do nothing and will live with these actions. He may be right and we Christians cannot feel sorry that we have no pool of violence to draw from or threaten our country. However, God does not sleep. We can see from the inexplicable dilemma of his North. – VERY TRUE!

One Northern Imam after the other have posted videos of lamentation on the social media asking why, with all the cards of power in the hands of northern Muslims, everything is bursting in the seams. How come our region has become a cesspool of blood and death? Why did President Buhari hand over a majority of the plum jobs to Northern Muslims? Was it for efficacy and efficiency? What was the logic? President Buhari must pause and turn around because his policy of nepotism has been rejected by the gods. – VERY TRUE!

IT WAS HIGH TIME PRESIDENT BUHARI BROKE THE SHACKLES OF NEPOTISM!

From all the preceding expressions of woes and tribulations faced by Nigerian citizens under his watch, President Muhammadu Buhari, does not seem to be the man WE all voted for as the “messiah” to run TWO TERMS in office and FIX NIGERIA! BUT in spite of all of our reservations with regards to his very glaring failures, We need to remind him that as he desperately sought to occupy the number ONE SEAT, he MUST desperately fulfill all his CONSTITUTIONAL DUTIES, as stipulated without further untenable excuses!

Fix endemic institutional corruption from which INSECURITY draws its strength; according to his avowed campaign promise in order to save his already dented and dwindling image! Stop all executive and legislative lootings of the treasury and personally monitor BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION to ensure that UNSPENT FUNDS ARE RETURNED TO THE TREASURY SINGLE ACCOUNT ANNUALLY!
As a retired Military General, he must get out of Aso Villa to oversight the progress at the various TRENCHES to boost morale of the troops who are still unable to win the war against Boko Haram terrorism/banditry which had stretched for over ELEVEN YEARS due to bad management of men and resources! The President has no excuse for still keeping his already tired and spent service chiefs!
The economy must be fixed very quickly in order to avoid FOOD INSECURITY! Northern farmers must be protected from terrorists who now slaughter them on their farms in order to create food shortage for the nation!
He should urgently discard his doctrine of nepotism and embrace the FEDERAL CHARACTER arrangement for an all-encompassing success through a strong and united ministerial management team! 

PRESIDENT BUHARI MUST NOT DEPART OFFICE IN DISGRACE! TWO AND A HALF YEARS IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT TO REDEEM HIS IMAGE! “A word is enough for the Wise!” We wish all our esteemed readers a happy and blessed new year.

How much education do you need to become a soldier or politician in Nigeria? Very little – education up to school certificate level or possession of the equivalent in technical skills!

Little wonder that a Senator of the Federal Republic in the year 2017, got a ticket to seat at the hallowed chamber with forged secondary school testimonial and West African Examination Council (WAEC), result!

It is no longer news that standard of education was deliberately lowered in Nigeria to accommodate students believed to have come “from educationally disadvantaged states” when “cut off marks” were reduced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for applicants seeking  admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria!

JAMB cut-off marks have suffered two set-backs in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
In August 2017, cut-off mark for universities was pegged at 120, while Polytechnics/Colleges of Education and Innovative Enterprising Institutes were fixed at 100 and 110 respectively and whereas the procedure in past years was 200 as cut-off mark! And in June 2019, JAMB applicants seeking admission into the universities were expected to score at least at least 160 as cut off which was still very low by all educational standards!

DILEMMA OF ASUU LECTURES IN OVER FOUR DECADES!

Apart from pressurizing the Federal Government persistently to upgrade educational standard/infrastructures as obtains in other clime, ASUU had to grapple with obsolete scientific equipments/tools, dilapidated/antiquated libraries which are not ICT driven; and the most appalling was that lecturers had to contend with semi-literate JAMBITES to complete the ugly equation!
And the objective of accommodating every Dick and Harry into the university system has backfired on Government because most Nigerian graduates have remained half-baked and unemployable both locally and internationally!

However, individual universities still had the prerogative to admit applicants who fulfil their own in-house Post-UTME - Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, before their admission was made sure!

Massive failures recorded in JAMB, WAEC AND NECO examinations also prompted government to reduce cut-off marks instead of introducing attractive  measures in the areas of “inventions, productions, manufacturing”  etc, to attract the youths to the choice of vocations that would expose their potentials and innate talents as obtained in developed countries.

Nigerian youth inventors who were at times publicised for their ingenuity for fabricating cars, trucks, SUVs, drones, farm tractors, aeroplanes etc, with local contents, were only celebrated in the media and no special effort was ever initiated by governments at Federal/State levels to either encourage or motivate them to achieve greater heights in life outside of strict academic pursuits while their major interests remained rooted in vocational and technical education!

TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (TVET) IS THE MODERN PLATFORM FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT!

This system of education which is a post-secondary discipline, has been tried and tested in most developed and developing countries of the world, the UK, Brazil, Philippines, etc, and has proved to be very efficient and reliable in keeping such countries abreast with modern technological advancement/achievements by creating the enabling environment to both private sector/self employments that keep the economic engine running smoothly for sure and steady development.
In many cases, the system has provided knowledge and skills for such employments through formal, non-formal and informal learning as a crucial vehicle for social equity, inclusion and sustainable development. TVET is particularly important for promoting economic development, expanding employment size/opportunities and improving the quality of employment!

The WORLD BANK’S 2019 World Development Report on the “future of work” suggests that flexibility between general and vocational education particularly in higher education is imperative to enable workers to compete in changing labour markets ORIENTATION where technology plays an increasing important role!

WHO SHOULD HAVE EMBRACED TVET THAN THE MILITARY BUT INSTEAD THEY BASTARDIZED THE EDUCATION SECTOR!

In the military junta year of 1988, when the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), dared to organize a national strike to demand for autonomy and fair wages, it was summarily proscribed(with all its properties seized), from 7th August of that year until 1990, and was again banned on 23rd August, 1992, when it organised another strike ....!

Through stakeholders negotiations that met several of their demands (including the right of workers to collective bargaining), the Military on 3rd September, 1992, unbanned the union but kept monitoring and meddling in its affairs! ASUU was forced to embark on further strikes in 1994 and 1996 against the dismissal and arbitrary dismissal of staff by the notorious Sani Abacha regime!

From the beginning of a fresh attempt in democracy in 1999, following the death of Abacha the previous year, the Fourth Republic, now 21 years old, has witnessed several agitations by ASUU for better condition for their workers and the upgrading of University funding, better working conditions, infrastructures and educational facilities.
Since its founding in 1978 (42 years ago), to succeed Nigerian Association of University Teachers, which debuted in 1965, ASUU had accumulated a total period of “three years of strike” because governments always reneged on their promises – especially military regimes which ruled with martial laws for almost 30 years and handed over to an equally irresponsive bunch of political jobbers!

The outgoing president says that it was wrong for federal lawmakers to impose the right to free basic education, primary and maternal care services on private institutions!
Our Comments:
Under Section 18(1) of the 1999 Constitution, (Educational  Objectives), government shall direct its policy towards ensuring that there are equal and adequate educational opportunities at all levels;
Government shall strive to eradicate illiteracy; and to this end Government shall as when as practicable provide:
(i) Free, compulsory and universal primary education;
(ii) Free secondary education;
(iii) Free university education; and
(iv) Free adult literacy programme.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party [PDP] had dominated and monopolized government at federal and states levels for upwards of SIXTEEN YEARS, without implementing any of the above! Nigeria’s educational system had remained on the brink of collapse while those saddled with that ministry cared less whether schools were opened or shut!
*Though education remains the bedrock of development for every nation, universities and polytechnics in Nigeria lost several academic sessions while exorbitant fees are being paid in governments’ primary and secondary institutions to acquire education which should be free according to PDP Manifesto! This insensitivity by the outgoing administration has cost up to a million loss of lives through the insurgency of Boko Haram who were neither given education nor any form of vocation!”

UNESCO’S RECOMMENDED BENCHMARK ON EDUCATION WAS DESPISED BY CONSECUTIVE GOVERNMENTS!

Funding of education in Nigeria is below the UNESCO’S recommended benchmark of 26 percent of the national budget and 6 percent of Gross Domestic products (GDP). Between 1960 and 2020, appropriation to the education sector grew from one percent to six percent which is a far cry from the need of over 200 million parents and children!

QUESTIONS: Should anyone then wonder why most Nigerians could not access free education at any level and why there were always over 13 million out-of-school children roaming the street year-on-year?

Must we also wonder why some States claim to be educationally disadvantaged while the Islamic sect Boko Haram terrorists had flourished for eleven consecutive years in its opposition against Western Education and had also succeeded in recruiting youths between ages six to fifteen and above? The answer should be glaring everyone in the face BUT those who did not choose violence opted for the lucrative jobs of soldering and politicking where they have made so much money without much education to harass the sages, the wise, knowledgeable and very sagacious citizens of the IVORY TOWER! Is this not an irony of fate?

ASSU’S STRIKE WHICH LASTED FOR OVER 9 MONTHS SUSPENDED ON WEDNESDAY 23RD DECEMBER, 2020!

On 9th March 2020, in spite of the prevalent Covid-19 Pandemic, which had ravaged the entire world including Nigeria, with thousands of thousands human casualties to show for it, ASUU began a two-week strike to further press 2009 pending negotiations which failed!

President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has now agreed to pay: (1) Revitalization money; (2) Earned allowances (3) Payment of all withheld salaries; (4) Remove lecturers names from Federal’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), payment platform; (5) Payment of N40 billion naira as earned allowances and (6) Pay N30 billion naira as revitalisation money; (7 ) Government also agreed to do integrity test for the lecturers’ preferred University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS),  System of payment because IPPIS programme was introduced to monitor transparency for the academic sectors.

According to available reports Federal Government as at Tuesday 22nd December paid the lecturers, owed two months salaries and also their earned allowance of N40 billion naira, (forty billion)!
ASUU has warned that the strike would remain suspended as long as government did not renege on other AGREEMENTS!

The worst type of punishment that could befall any nation was to be governed by a bunch of ILLITERATES! “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’’(Prov 22:6)

MIYETTI ALLAH IS THE NEW NEGOTIATOR BETWEEN BOKO HARAM AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

Ranching Law became imperative and was enacted in some Northern and Southern States between 2015-2018, when rampaging Fulani Herdsmen increased their audacity to invade virtually all nooks and crannies of the Nigerian landscape to feed their cattle on private farmlands and in the process inflict collateral damages on the farmers without respect for their fundamental human rights!

Ex-governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, enacted a ranching law which was enforced to bring sanity to the herdsmen violations - a process which empowered law enforcement agents to seize and detain offending cattle, and also take defaulting herdsmen before law courts where fines were imposed on those proven guilty to serve as deterrent to others who eventually conformed to the law!

BUT, incumbent Governor of Benue State was not so lucky! When crisis between herders/farmers escalated in the State between 2015-2017, which according to him claimed nearly 2,000 lives, he decided to enact a grazing law in 2017 to stem the ugly development but it backfired because the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, which was responsible for those killings, resisted the law, threatened to violate it and allegedly carried out a vicious attack which claimed another 73 lives of innocent farmers and villagers 1st January, 2018!

In a criminal proceeding instituted against the leaders of Miyetti Allah before the Markudi High Court, the governor stated that they were charged with the murder of 73 victims killed on the New Year day, and that perpetrators of the heinous crime should not be allowed to go scot free because they told the Press that what was happening in Benue was, “ a Jihad; it’s not about grazing; it is about occupation; about taking over the land, and have never refuted the claim!”

The Governor then said he strongly believed that he would get justice in the long run.....!

THE TWIST OF EVENTS! On Saturday 26th October 2019, National Secretary of the Fulani Socio-Cultural Organisation, Saleh Alhassan, apologised to Governor Ortom, on behalf of the association over the attacks and killings of people of Benue State by herdsmen at a Peace Initiative, where the Miyetti Allah secretary described the Governor as a peace-loving man who stood firmly for the emancipation of his people. He gave assurance that the group was ready to abide with all provisions of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law by the government and embrace ranching as the global best practice for animal husbandry.

WHEREAS in August 2018, Miyetti Allah had demanded an apology from Governor Ortom, for fabricating lies against its association because “Tivs had carried out Benue killings and not Fulani herdsmen!”

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL (AI) REPORT: In 2018, AI reported that about 3,641 lives were lost to the Herders/Farmers crisis from January 2016 to October 2018.
2018 GLOBAL TERRORISM INDEX (GTI): GTI placed Benue casualty figures from January to September 2018 at 1,700 persons!

MIYETTI ALLAH’S NEW ROLE AS BUHARI’S NEGOTIATORS!

It is no longer news that when the Federal Government said in 2016/2017 that Boko Haram was tactically defeated by the Nigerian Armed Forces, little did it realise that fleeing terrorists formed themselves into smaller cells that now operate as bandits, kidnappers, highway robbers, traffickers inhuman body parts in the North West/North Central Geo-Political Zones etc. thereby escalating an already precarious crime scenario since that period to further destroy all efforts by the Buhari Administration to stem the tide!

344 STUDENTS OF GSSS, KANKARA, LG, RESCUED BY MIYETTI ALLAH NEGOTIATORS???

Maybe President Muhammadu Buhari, whose arrival in his home town Daura for a week’s rest, coincided with the kidnap, was neither properly nor probably briefed,  because he gave kudos to the combined efforts of the security agencies, who “rescued” the 344 students,  [kidnapped for six days Friday 11th – Thursday 17th December, 2020], on his 78th birthday for a job well done; whereas the children’s release was officially facilitated by Miyetti Allah Negotiators on behalf of Governor Aminu Masari of North Central Katsina Home State of the President!

While addressing the media on Thursday 17th December, shortly after the rescue of the unfortunate school children, the Governor asserted that NO RANSOM was paid to their abductors just as they claimed in previous rescues of Chibok, and Dapchi terrorists abductions!

NEGOTIATORS MUST AVOID COLLATERAL DAMAGE!   

International best practice demands that professional negotiators must be engaged to mediate between law-enforcers and desperate hostage takers to avoid collateral damages of innocent victims caught in between cross fires!

Terrorists employ all manner of dirty tactics, especially the abduction of vulnerable people whom they forcibly manipulate as human shields to escape justice or to collect huge monetary ransoms to further advance criminalities/brigandage!

Payment of ransoms to criminals for the release of their captives has become a Nigerian factor [even at official level where negotiation with terrorists was totally forbidden], from the early 1980s when kidnapping became a thriving and illustrious business and now boasts of billionaires!

FOUR NIGERIAN LAND BORDERS OPENED ON THURSDAY 17TH DECEMBER, 2020, TO PAVE WAY FOR COMMENCEMENT OF THE AFRICAN CONTINENTAL FREE  TRADE AREA AGREEMENT (AfCTA) AT THE EXPENSE OF FURTHER ESCALATION OF INSECURITY!

Nigerians need to know of the gains from land border closure from 24th August 2019 to 17th December, 2020, because throughout that period, the country harvested the worst type of INSECURITY that flowed inwards through the supposedly closed borders in spite of  “tight security” by Immigration/Customs/Army/Police/SSS personnel and operatives!

Can government deny that small weapons, arms, ammunitions including mercenary Fulani herdsmen from neighbouring West African Countries did not move into the country in droves without restraint and have caused the worst mayhem ever witnessed by Nigerians in the last 16 months of the ineffective closure? 

The President boasted that Nigeria attained “FOOD SECURITY” within six months into the “closure” BUT, citizens went through both artificial inflation on goods and services, as created and facilitated by greedy and unpatriotic traders across the 36 States while commodity price monitoring agencies went to sleep and LIFE INSECURITY BOOMED – while overstretched law-enforcement agencies could not cope with banditry/terrorism which thrived at the highest peak!

BUT the President believed that the closure prevented smuggling of RICE and other products in order to ensure food sufficiency; and whereas, food prices soared at two digits figure of 18.3% while inflation on goods and services exceeded all socio-economic predictions [according to Nigeria Bureau of Statistics rating], at 14.9%, the highest in recent years!

There was doubt that the year 2020 flooding which affected 22 States also contributed to food shortage/inflation as smuggling was at its lowest ebb due to the “border closure”!

There was great jubilation, commotion mixed with confusion when Seme, Ilella, Maigatari, Mfun land borders were ordered to be flung wide open by President Buhari according to media reports and the President’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu made the following remarks: “The message had sunk in to neighbouring countries used as a base for smuggling into Nigeria... especially BENIN, which it was largely intended for!

“A number of Nigerian business leaders have been complaining about Cotonou’s attitude. They claim their trucks going to Benin are overtaxed at the border ...Aliko Dangote was also prohibited to sell his Cement in Benin by President Patrice Talon.”

However, Dangote succeeded to bring Benin President to Nigeria in September, brokered a truce for the borders to be re-opened in preparation for AfCTA effective from 1st January, 2021!

QUESTION? Where is the consideration for the socio-economic gains of the ordinary Nigerian TALAKAWA in all of the measures of both the CLOSURE AND THE RE-OPENING? What is glaring in all of the transactions are better opportunities for business leaders to make more money while the poor get poorer!

DANGOTE HAS INCREASED AND SOLD CEMENT BAGS PRODUCED IN NIGERIA FOR N3, 500 SINCE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PERIOD FROM ITS FORMER HIGH PRICE OF N2, 200 NAIRA IN 2019!

It is also rumored that when DANGOTE PETROL (PMS) COMES ON STREAM, IT WOULD NOT COME CHEAP FOR NIGERIANS BUT WOULD CONFORM WITH “MARKET FORCES”- PRESENTLY TRENDING AT N165.50 AND ABOVE!

QUESTION? When will 200 million Nigerians become DANGOTES? When FEUDALISM IS COMPLETELY ERASED from Nigeria’s socio-economic system and the so-called BUSINESS LEADERS backed by the COMMONWEALTH FUNDS – THE COMMON PATRIMONY – THE SWEAT BLOOD AND TEARS OF THE MASSES – AT THE DETRIMENT OF BASIC NECESSITIES OF LIFE THROUGH RIGHTEOUS IMPLEMENTATION OF CAPITAL PROJECTS [especially in the Education, Health, Small-Medium Scale Enterprises, Manufacturing Sectors, Agriculture etc.), MEANT TO CATER FOR THE POOR MASSES!

If the United States of America, China, Russia etc, could boast of the largest economies in the world and also thousands of thousands of billionaires/millionaires, among their citizens; Nigeria could do the same and build a very sustainable economy to be counted among the FIRST 20 COUNTRIES ACROSS THE WORLD!

They should remember that as they birthed into the world with neither personal belongings nor properties so would they likewise depart to eternity in emptiness to give account of their stewardship to their Almighty CREATOR at the appointed TIME which could be ANYTIME!

THIS GAME OF DECEIT WILL BE THE DOWNFALL OF BUHARI’S APC!

Nigerian citizens must perhaps be the worst sinners in the world for them to be persistently hurt, bruised, harassed and persecuted by political representatives who should normally protect them according to the law but have instead employed coercive institutional instruments to destroy their collective psyche and denied them of inalienable fundamental rights as enacted in the 1999 Constitution!

Over the years of independence and republican status, citizens have been permanently relegated to the background – the bottom of the ladder – where they now have to look up to their so-called representatives at all tiers of government to eek a living albeit, to live LIFE in spite of the fact that “sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government derives all its powers and authority”!

All major or minor decisions/policies were usually conceived, incubated, mooted and executed between the executive/legislative and forced down the throat of hapless citizens, irrespective of their education, qualifications, positions, achievements, expertise, professionalism, experience etc, etc. as if 60-year-old Nigeria is not part of the 21st century ICT- compliant world BUT in a remote planet where feudal overlords hold sway!

CASE STUDY: The Petroleum downstream sector government’s subsidy scam of 21 consecutive years, which has made billionaires of all cadres of the ruling class since independence, is still very much trending because it is very difficult for very greedy politicians to take their hands off the honey pot!

On the one hand the 2015- 2020 existing Buhari Administration (which most articulate Nigerians in the private sector, Ivory Tower, manufacturing, industry etc, thought would salvage the very unsavory situation, especially when the President doubled as the Petroleum Minister), declared that “government‘s subsidy on petroleum products” would be totally abolished while petroleum product prices, would be allowed to be determined by “international market forces”!

BUT, on the other hand, year-on-year, the Petroleum Products Pricing Marketing Company (PPPMC), had consistently dictated/announced pump prices of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) known as Petrol, Diesel Oil and Kerosene prices till date as it deemed fit!

December 2020, pump price was fixed at N165, 00, per liter while marketers sold at prices favorable to them - N170.00 and above at some filling stations across the nation and citizens remain at the mercy of those fronting at those outlets owned by most of them!

WORDS OF WISDOM ON MARBLE!

ARISTOTLE, the great Greek philosopher, logician, scientist political theorist and polymath, [384-322 BC], in one of his thought-provoking ‘quotes’, says:
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

President Muhammadu Buhari is one individual who strongly believes that with age, cerebral capabilities diminished! He lamented in 2015, shortly after his successful FOURTH attempt: “I wish I became Head of State when I was a governor, just a few years as a young man. Now at 72, there is a limit to what I can do.”!
He served as a military governor at 33 and Head of State at 40 years! Was that lamentation called for? Was it not an early sign of defeat which postulate that without youthful energy to accomplish the gargantuan duties attached to the exalted office, he would not be able to accomplish much?

CHECK OUT THE NEGATIVE SCORECARD OF BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT!

Outside of the Crude Oil – the main stay of the economy – which the Federal Government claims monopoly of execution of its proceeds through the constitutional Executive Legislative List, both the executive and legislative arms bypass all constitutional procedures to:
Fix their monthly/annual salaries, allowances/emoluments;
Purchase brand new, imported, very expensive/exotic vehicles every FOUR years;
Share all CONTRACTS at the illegal/unconstitutional Wednesday “Federal Executive Council” meetings among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), where they further contracted to professional cronies who front for the politicians!
Re-write and re-invent all annual budgets through “paddings”, execute all non-existent “constituency project contracts” and have left the masses high and dry year after year!
Though, current two-digit % of prices inflation of products and services/economic recession is adduced by government to Covid-19 Pandemic, all of the above indices of maladministration are pointers to deliberate, insensitive, institutionally induced suffering, planned and sustained by consecutive administrations of PDP/APC which have birthed the worst kind if NATIONAL INSECURITY from 1999 to date!

AND that is why, permanent squalor due to lack of any meaningful infrastructure in all sectors of the economy – education, health, agriculture, thermal /hydro electricity generation, potable water, textiles, industry, manufacturing, road/water transportation,  aviation, etc, etc,), permeate the entire six geo-political zones of the nation, for the obvious reason that all allocated monies have been shared among the SERVANT POLITICIANS, to the detriment of “The People” who have been sidelined for too long!

Unemployment, abject poverty – the harbinger of crimes, criminalities, insurgency and terrorism which have become prominent features of daily life that culminate into annual negative international indexes are the order of the day in Nigeria!

THE PEOPLES’ RIGHTS MUST PREVAIL WHETHER BUHARI LIKES IT OR NOT!

Henceforth and until he finally departs office on MONDAY, 29TH MAY, 2023, President Buhari WILL ensure that Nigerians were no longer sidelined in all policy decisions that directly affect their collective existence! Starting with ensuring adequate security of lives and properties which are the primary duties of his administration, he should employ the doctrine of INTEGRITY (of which is fondly identified), by discarding all EXCESS LUGGAGE of his cabinet and the Legislative – in the following manner: (1) Drop the current ministers/special advisers, especially the parasite SECOND TIMERS and DELETE THE DISCREDITED KITCHEN CABINET, and appoint the constitutionally stipulated number of 36 fresh ministers if he would redeem his badly damaged image! (2) Call for a REFERENDUM to dissolve the current SENATE before it ends its tenure in JUNE 2023, and also REDUCE THE NUMBER OF House of Representatives Legislators to 74! (3) He MUST henceforth respect the collective wishes of the People for RIGHTEOUS governance in every policy decision on all lawful EXPENDITURE from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), most especially as soon as the #Five-For-Five Demands by #EndSars, #EndPoliceBrutality Youth Protesters have been fully implemented by his government! (4) The PEOPLE have rejected being murdered, decapitated, or butchered in cold-blood any longer by terrorists, bandits or kidnappers and are demanding from the President a very quick collaboration for supervised Arming of Citizens in the North East, North West and North Central theatre of war without delay!

BLOOD OF THE SLAIN IS CRYING OUT! BUHARI MUST HONOR HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES INVITATION IF HE TRULY LOVES THE TALAKAWAS AS HE CLAIMS!

When the House of Representatives concluded a heated debate over the gruesome massacre of 43/78  Zabarmari farmers on 28th November, 2020, and resolved that the Commander-In-Chief should address them at an appointed date several Nigerians expressed reservations on whether the Buhari they were accustomed to would honor such request!

The President gave assurance he would address the nation at the green chamber (which later communicated with the Senate for a joint sitting), since Speaker ‘Femi Gbajabiamala’s claimed he secured the President’s commitment who MUST not renege under any pressure!

From the onset we suspected that PMB was insincere – judging by the fact that since his last overseas outing to mediate Mali’s military coup of August 2020 –  condemned and widely criticized – and except for presenting the 2021 Budget in person at the House of Representatives - his outing has been limited to the precincts of the State House, Abuja!

QUESTIONS:
Did he address the #EndSars Protesters to avert the horrible nation-wide calamity that swept through the country, even though he had opportunity to do so between the 8th-20th October, 2020? NO!
Why did he fail to address the legislators as “promised”? Because his handlers strongly believe “he’s not an Orator”; he might divulge serious security strategies out of confusion?
That the collective invitation was an opposition PDP ploy to embarrass PMB ?
Ex- President Ebele Jonathan was similarly invited in 2011, but failed to honor the National Assembly (NASS)…and Heaven did NOT fall!
BUT an intervention by Minister of Justice and Attorney of General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who said that the Legislators lacked jurisdiction to invite or summon Mr. President to explain any matter before it AND
APC’s Governors forum which met and told the President not to honor the invitation put paid to all the shenanigans!
THURSDAY 10TH DECEMBER, 2020, NASS WAITED IN VAIN AT PLENARY FOR PMB WHO DID NOT SHOW UP AS PROMISED!
House Speaker was called to brief the plenary but declined by saying he was still expecting an official response from Aso Rock!
The House of Representatives might wait in vain because the ruling APC has majority in the NASS and would treat the very sensitive issue as FAMILY MATTER and they would be kowtowed to “let sleeping dog lie”!

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS WAS MARKED IN NIGERIA WITH FANFARE ON THURSDAY,  10TH DECEMBER, 2020!

At the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), groups of Nigerians who believe in the TOTAL EMANCIPATION of the PEOPLE from further extra-judicial killings torture, etc, held peaceful rallies to celebrate the day with accentuated advocacy that, governments at both Federal and States level MUST fulfill their constitutional duties in respect of ensuring adequate security architecture for the masses at all times!

It is now an open fact that prosecutors of The International Criminal Court (ICC), at the Hague, Netherlands, to which Nigeria is member and signatory to its Charter, are gathering vital information on major national calamities of unprecedented proportions of mass murders by Boko Haram terrorists and institutional terrorism through police and army brutality – especially the recent Lekki Toll Gate killings of peaceful protesters on Black Friday, 20th October, 2020!

The inference in all of this is that no Nigerian can henceforth hurt or injure the right of another without being brought to justice, be he a president or a citizen – and outside of official justice, every man will give account of his stewardship to God, his creator at an appointed time!
