A shameless generation of Nigerian political jobbers mounted the stage again on Monday 21st August 2023 as Federal Ministers who according to the President's spokesman had not been convicted of any crime. However the Citizens have loads of corruption allegations against many of them!

And in spite of a cacophony of public outcry against a large number of 45 Ministers who are definitely round pegs in square holes, yet Mr. President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu went ahead to swear them with defiance and impunity with various portfolios that were at variance to their acclaimed disciplines! Definitely priority was given to political patronage as re-cycled Governors of the 1999 SET to which BAT belonged carried the day with pomp and pageantry as families/friends and business associates of the AWARDEES romped well-organized, lavish and sumptuous parties to celebrate the show of SHAME!

And yet BAT is determined to fight and destroy the Corruption Monster as enunciated in his 8-point Agenda, just as done by his predecessor in office?

BREAKING NEWS: APART FROM 20 SPECIAL ADVISERS, THE NEW MINISTERS IN THEIR 4-YEAR-TENURE WILL COLLECT A WHOPPING SUM OF NGN8.6 BILLION NAIRA IN SALARIES/ALLOWANCES ACCORDING TO OFFICIAL SOURCES!

Any person who accepts political appointment under the current Nigeria's Presidential system is not only a thief, BUT a rogue and a vagabond and should be apprehended and prosecuted for aiding and abetting criminality!

It is an open secret that Presidential system of government in any developing nation is an abomination because it is too expensive to run! Nigeria needs a UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM of government to overcome the current challenges of INSECURITY and ECONOMIC STRANGULATION when all hands are on deck through PARLIAMENTARIANS FROM AMONG THE GRASSROOTS!

Tinubu and his oligarchic cohorts now in government are knowledgeable of this solution, BUT would rather look the other way in other to satisfy their covetousness and self aggrandizement at the expense of the poor masses who are murdered everyday by Boko Haram Frankenstein's Monsters created by them! Should the Citizens remain docile and allow further manipulation under the current recycled set of the same old unrepentant politicians who MUST shamelessly DIE IN OFFICE?

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister is already boasting of how he would demolish about 6,000 structures in order to perpetuate the Abuja Master Plan! Question: Why would most Citizens subject themselves to the evil machinations of the oligarchy and continue to recycle them every 4-year only to be given the short end of the Stick to hold? 

Question: Are they jinxed, jazzed or mesmerized or out rightly inundated by the dubious credentials being flaunted by these evil geniuses? Nigeria's 1999 Constitution states that the only educational qualification a Citizen needed to become president, governor, legislator or minister is a School Certificate passed or failed as obtains in Osun State, South West Nigeria!

Question: Are the Citizens a bunch of illiterates who love the sound of Ph.D? That once a politician flaunted a Ph.D Certificate that they became so excited and got carried away in adulation? The drama of the election of the current Speaker of the House of Representative is a point in reference - everyone who voted on 13th June 2023, for Tajudeen Abbas, chorused Ph.D gleefully!

There is a cliche that illiteracy is embedded in the Nigerian DNA! That to confuse an average Nigerian, he should just be communicated through a printed book and he becomes completely lost! TRUE OR FALSE? Presidential system of government in any developing country is a CURSE! IT IS NEITHER DEMOCRACY NOR FEDERALISM!

 DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE is the UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM which is COST-EFFECTIVE as it allows for all democratic norms to fester from grassroots to the Central government. But BOLA TINUBU'S Advisers and Kitchen Cabinet's Members will collect humongous salaries on monthly basis without having any infrastructures on ground that are commensurate to show for the monies appropriated!

Everyone knows that the 21st Century governments of successful economies of the world are driven by TECHNOLOGY, SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING but what obtains in Nigeria is ANALOGUE ADMINISTRATION OF SPENT RE-CYCLED POLICY MAKERS who have virtually transported Nigeria back to the STONE AGE BACKWARDNESS!

Nigeria's INDEBTEDNESS to foreign Nations has become a constant embarrassment because those loans CANNOT BE REPAYED IN THE NEXT 40 YEARS except an acceptable government of GRASSROOTS PARLIAMENTARIANS ARE VOTED TO POWER THROUGH REFERENDUM!

BOLA TINUBU HAS ADDED PEPPERS TO INJURY BY ACQUIRING USD$3 BILLION FOREIGN LOAN TO THE NGN46.25 TRILLION NAIRA UNPAID DEBT STOCK!

In a desperate bid to prove that he could turn the tide around after many gaffes since his inauguration: 1. Tinubu instead of stemming Oil Theft that had drastically reduced Nigeria's Crude output to a mere 1.8 million barrels per day instead of 2.2 million to earn more Forex and 2. To repair the FOUR moribund Refineries to come onstream and ERADICATE FURTHER IMPORTATION OF FINISHED PETROLEUM PRODUCTS which has continued to deplete the nation's very low FOREIGN RESERVE encouraged NNPC Ltd. (The famous Four Towers of Corruption) acquire the ACCURSED LOAN only for the poor to suffer the more without palliatives through CNG Buses, Cars, Trucks to improve movement of goods and services!

ALL PROMISED PALLIATIVES ARE PAPER TIGERS WHILE THE USD$3 BILLION DOLLARS ARE SAFELY STATCHED ASIDE TO CATER FOR THE NEEDS OF HIS AIDES AND LIEUTENANTS!

On 20th August 2023, the NNPCL explained off how the FOREIGN LOAN FACILITY collected through the Cairo-based Afrexim Bank would serve as buffer and be disbursed to favour Nigerian POOR MASSES as follows:

What is the $3bn loan about?

The NNPC Ltd secured an emergency $3bn crude oil repayment loan from Afreximbank. This is not a crude-for-refined product swap but an upfront cash loan against proceeds from a limited amount of future crude oil production.

Is this loan risky for NNPC ltd or the Nigerian treasury?

No. The exposure for NNPC Ltd is very limited, covering just a fraction of their entitlements. Additionally, there are no sovereign guarantees tied to this loan.

What’s the benefit of this loan to Nigeria?

The loan will assist NNPC Ltd in settling taxes and royalties in advance. It will also equip the Federal Government with the necessary dollar liquidity to stabilize the Naira, with limited risk.

How will the loan be disbursed?

The funds will be released in stages or tranches based on the specific needs and requirements of the federal government.

Will this loan affect fuel prices?

As strengthened Naira as a result of this initiative will lead to a reduction in fuel costs. This means that if the Naira appreciates in value, the cost of fuel will drop, and further increases will be halted.

What about subsidies? Are they coming back?

No. a stronger Naira will result in lower prices from the current level, making subsidies unnecessary. The deregulation policy remains unchanged.

How will the loan be repaid?

The loan will be repaid against a fraction of proceeds from future crude oil production. It’s a strategic move that ensures a balance between our current economic needs and future production capabilities.

What is the difference between this and previous swap deals?

This is not a crude oil for refined products agreement where the government does not earn any proceeds from the swap.

Is this ‘Ways and Means 2.0’?

Absolutely not. NNPC Ltd is not in the business of printing money and is not a Central Bank. NNPC Ltd is borrowing from third party institutions to repay its taxes and royalties to the treasury (which it would have normally paid) in advance.

The NNPC Limited also urged those who seek further clarification and update on its $3bn Emergency Crude Repayment Loan from Afreximbank, to check the official social media channels of the NNPC Ltd and the government of Nigeria.

WE WILL NOT KEEP QUIET UNTIL THE RIGHT ADMINISTRATORS OF TRUE DEMOCRACY EMERGE FROM AMONG THE GRASSROOTS IN A UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT.

Tinubu will NOT get away with this SCAM labeled as "Renewed Hope". He cannot administer Nigeria like Lagos State through ALPHA BETA CONSULTANCY! This is balderdash! "The Soul that sinneth shall surely die!" This is the Word of God!

During ones of his Presidential campaigns in January 2023, Mr. 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), lamented and bluntly indicted retired General Buhari that he deliberately introduced re-designed naira notes as a grand ploy to TRUNCATE his life ambition of becoming the President of Nigeria!

He vowed on live media interview to trek all the way with his retinue of campaigners to all their targeted venues and to meet all deadlines to accomplish his dream  and with such vituperations incurred the wrath of many household enemies!

1) First on the list was the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari whom he reminded via his “EMI LOKAN” (It’s my turn) jingle, that were it not for him (Tinubu), Buhari would not have become the President of Nigeria in 2015, having lost in three previous attempts!  

2) Second was former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu who openly vowed that the Party would discipline BAT for his unguarded utterances and disrespect to President Buhari. But he underestimated (BAT’s) uncanny and crafty art of a desperado who maneuvered all obstacles to win the election now being challenged at the courts!

3) Third was Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and purveyor of the re-designed naira notes, who also believed that he could succeed Buhari as President of Nigeria but eventually withdrew due to massive opposition by Nigerians! He has been charged to court with a female accomplice for financial procurement fraud totaling N6.9 billion! 

NAIRA-RE-DESIGN - COMMENTS BY INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND CONCERNED NIGERIANS!

(A)Naira redesign will affect the poor, SMEs according to the World Bank – as reported by Damiola Aina, on 20th December 2022.

“The World Bank has warned that the newly redesigned naira which went into circulation last week may have negative effect on economic activity especially poor Nigerians due to its timing and short transition period.

The Washington-based bank revealed this in a new report titled, “Nigeria Development Update.”

The Central Bank of Nigeria had in November 2022, unveiled new N,1000, N500 and N200 notes as part of measures to mop up excess cash in circulation, ransom payment for kidnapping, terrorism financing, counterfeiting, among others.

The World Bank, in its report however said the policy would negatively affect small businesses in respect of day-to-day cash transactions.

The report read in part, “While periodic currency redesigns are normal internationally and the naira does appear to be due for it since naira notes have been redesigned for two decades, the timing of and short transition period for this demonetization may have negative impacts on economic activity, in particular for the poorest households.

“International experience suggests that rapid demonetizations can generate significant short-term costs, with small-scale businesses, and poor and vulnerable households, potentially being particularly affected due liquidity-constrained by and heavily reliant on day-to-day cash transactions.

“At present, households and firms already face elevated financial pressures from prolonged, high inflation, recently compounded by external food and fuel price shocks, and the severe floods, and phasing out existing naira notes over a short time period may add to their challenges.”

(B)The President of the Bank Customers Association of Nigeria, Dr Uju Ogunbunka, also said the objectives of the cashless policy was understandable but noted that the execution and timing were not right.

He said, “From the cashless policy point of view, we should appreciate that, as much as possible, the government is trying to limit the use of cash for transactions, more so, now that they are redesigning the currency. “The second thing is that the government wants to drive the use of online banking, which is good for our economy.  Unfortunately, there have been so many complaints about failed transactions.”

“There is hardly any week without complaints in the banking hall. You will see people shouting with regard to transfer failures. Have we put enough structure to take care of some of these things? The answer is, we are yet to, we are making progress, yes, but we should give enough room and time for some of these things to play out rather than short-circuit the system.”

(C)Also, the Lagos State Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprise, Dr Adebayo Adams, also said the policy would hit businesses and the MSMEs.

MR. BAT IN AN ATTEMPT TO SOLVE CURRENCY INSTABILITY HAS INTRODUCED

“NAIRA FLOATING”!

 Excerpts from Elvis Eromosele’s contribution to the subject matter: “Nigeria, one of Africa’s largest economies, has a longstanding history of grappling with currency stability and foreign exchange challenges. Over the year, the Nigerian government has employed various measures to manage its currency, the naira, including pegging it to a specific exchange rate. This naturally created two exchange rates, the official and the black market. The disparity between the two provided an avenue for people with access to dollars to buy at the official rate and resell at the black market. Many millionaires and a few billionaires were created through this distorted system. Floating the exchange rate is meant to solve this problem. The idea of floating the naira has however remained a subject of debate. Experts concede that it holds both potential advantages and risks. What does it mean to float a country’s exchange rate? Floating a country’s currency, also known as a floating exchange rate, refers to a monetary system where the value of a nation’s currency is determined by market forces such as supply and demand. In this system, the currency’s exchange rate fluctuates freely in response to various economic factors, including inflation, interest rates, trade balances, and capital flows.

Under a floating exchange rate regime, the government or central bank does not fix or peg the currency to a specific value against another currency or a basket of currencies. Instead, the exchange rate is determined by the interaction of buyers and sellers in the foreign exchange market. Supply and demand dynamics influence the currency’s value, and its exchange rate can appreciate or depreciate relative to other currencies. Today, reports emerged that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has directed Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) to eliminate the rate cap on the Nigerian naira at the Investors’ and Exporters’ (I&E) Window of the foreign exchange market. This move aims to facilitate a free-floating system for the national currency, enabling it to fluctuate freely against the United States dollar and other major global currencies. Analysts claim that it follows closely on the heels of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to unify Nigeria’s various exchange rates. Experts have quickly lined up on opposite sides of the aisle. Some argue that it would allow the currency to adjust to changing economic conditions, which can help promote competitiveness, adjust trade imbalances, attract foreign investment, and respond to shifts in global markets. Others swear that the exchange rate will become more volatile and subject to fluctuations, which can have both positive and negative implications for the economy.

The NAIRA has been secretly devalued due excessive and addictive borrowing! The EXCHANGE RATE has gone beyond N900-1,000 naira to one US Dollar! TINUBU’S imaginary merger of OFFICIAL and BUREAU DE CHANGE was another gaffe just like “Subsidy is Gone”! QUESTION:  IS SUBSIDY NOT BACK THROUGH THE BACK DOOR? 

Mr. BAT says he has saved NGN 1trllion from fuel subsidy removal since 29th May 2023. He is dolling out NGN5 billion to each State as PALLIATIVE FUND to cushion the negative effects on the ABUSED MASSES! 

BAT has now confirmed our earlier speculations that all of his AIDES/ CABINET MINISTERS etc, WOULD ALL BE PAID SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES WITH BORROWED MONIES!

HOW CAN MR. BAT COMPARE THE VERY STRONG FLOATING UNITED STATES DOLLAR WITH THE NAIRA WHICH HAS BEEN BASTARDIZED THROUGH INSTITUTIONAL CORRUPTIVE ABUSE BY SUCCESSIVE ADMINISTRATION?

FOREIGN POWERS SHOULD LET NIGERIENS BREATHE!

Foreign meddlesomeness veiled as diplomatic interventions by Western World Powers, especially of the Francophone and Anglophone bloc have further deepened the dichotomy between two strange bed fellows within the West African Sub-Region and the Sahel!

Both bloc have West African countries in almost equal proportions having been colonial Masters who still believe in allegiance of subservient relationships.

In virtually all of West African francophone countries, the CFA - French currency still holds sway.

But yet there's still a common interest or bone of contention in Niger between the two bloc - URANIUM - which is in global demand and which Niger has in abundance. Uranium is used to power commercial nuclear reactors that produce electricity and to produce isotopes used for medical, industry and defence purposes around the world.

Niger has two significant mines providing 7.5% of world minning output from Africa's highest grade uranium ores. Since the contentious military coup, of 26th July 2023, Niger has gained much of negative international attention because the act of seizing legitimate governments through the barrels of the gun is TREASONABLE ACT AND TOTALLY FORBIDDEN AND UNACCEPTABLE THROUGH CONSTITUTIONAL ENACTMENTS!

We also condemn coup de tat in any form or guise!

SOVEREIGNTY BELONGS TO THE CITIZENS!

Except in a state of despotism, autocracy, oligarchy or anarchy, the citizens of every nation are constitutionally endowed with the inalienable right of sovereignty over elected representatives from Mr. President to the Councilors in the Local Government Areas (LGAs)!

 Nigeriens have spoken loud and clear in support of the new military regime in Niger Republic because they were tired of President Bazoum government which the National Council of the State Guard of the Nation had decided put an end to!

There is now a Military Government in position although coup d'etat is a crime against constitutional authorities but when citizens support coups it only proves that they are tired of the fake democracy to which they are being subjected for a very long time. 

Mr. 'Bola Tinubu who now wears two caps of both President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS), during his days as a democrat joined ranks with several patriotic Nigerians to oppose the military interregnum that lasted for almost 30 years and when his life was threatened he ran into exile but the agitations eventually overthrew the military aberration.

For almost 23 years Nigeria democratic nation even though it is by nomenclature and not a reality has portrayed those who took over from the military in 1999

 as new opportunists because they wasted no time to show their true colors of massive corruption in governance, stealing, robbery, terrorism multi-dimensional poverty, official impunity, gangsterism, institutional terrorism and large-scale robbery of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), on daily basis between the three arms of government!

Like their Nigeriens counterpart Citizens of Nigeria are also tired of this kind of democracy which enables the rich to be richer and the poor to be poorer and for the poor to be taxed until they bleed to death!

For them to suffer in the midst of plenty while the oligarchy of a few rake in all the monies including all the natural resources, all the foreign exchange earnings from the Crude Oil into their various accounts!

 HAS IT EVER OCCURRED TO ECOWAS LEADERS THAT MAYBE NIGERIENS ACTUALLY INVITED THE MILITARY TO TAKE OVER THE REIGNS OF GOVERNMENT?

As the Head of the Nigerian Government and simultaneously Chairman of ECOWAS  it is very clear to everyone now that Mr. 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), is a total misfit in both saddles!

As Nigeria's President he has messed up the entire governance by trapping himself in all manners of errors of commission and omission and multiple gaffes at home and abroad and WE of this Platform and all Nigerian patriots are tired of the repetition of maladministration of the highest order in his over 70 days in office!

Now his complete ignorance in governance and diplomatic architecture has brought Nigeria into disrepute among Citizens of the West African nation of Niger because it is believed that Mr. BAT insisted that THE USE OF FORCE WAS AN OPEN OPTION TO CHASE OUT THE MILITARY JUNTA AND RE-INSTATE THE OUSTED CIVILIAN PRESIDENT!

Though ECOWAS Secretariat claimed Mr. BAT's statement was a collective response and decision to the situation in Niger the Citizens have warned the Body to keep off their shores because they were better off with the soldiers!

 Truly power lies in the hands of Nigeriens but if and when their expectations from the present military government become sour, they will chase them out through sovereign authority like TINUBU and his fellow agitators did to past military administrations in Nigeria!

Mr. Tinubu had no foundation in any form of diplomacy at any stage of his short political career! Going down the memory lane the only opportunity in governance which he had before 29th May 2023 was in Lagos State where was governor because of the role he played in driving out the military.

He was compensated with the Governorship position and served for eight years (1999-2007), and that was all. From then - 15 years on to 2023 the man has been moribund, redundant, stale, ineffective, inactive and completely lost to realities of the 21st Century ICT applications in governance!

Mr. Donald Trump, erstwhile president of the United States is having his days in the courts for various criminal indictments ranging from amorous escapades to financial infringements/misappropriation while in office for a term of four years only!

Exceeding wealthy people are always under the delusion that money could fetch them any desire of life but were always wrong!

Riches could never translate to good governance or administration because most acquisition were from dubious and illicit sources!

 Mr Bola Tinubu insisted that it was his turn to become president of Nigeria and by hook or crook he has found himself in the saddle of power. But what has he done with the political power in 67 days up to Sunday 6th August 2023?

1) Mr.BAT promised to continue from where MUHAMMADU BUHARI stopped! (How can a new leader choose to be a failure from the onset?)

2) On his inaugural speech Tinubu cancelled a Petroleum Subsidy regime which he knew was a SCAM from Military to civilian consecutive administrations - instead of utilising a 31- day window opportunity until 30th June 2023, to roll out palliatives to cushion the ripple effects and fall outs as being suffered by the poor masses who were not involved in any way!

3) It has been exposed that Tinubu took orders from foreign countries like the United States, United Kingdom and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to carry out policy issues because he lacks personal confidence/competence in high-wire policy matters.

4) It is in the public domain that Tinubu's style of delegation of powers to subordinates is plot to cover up for his lapses in educational competence and dexterity.

5) Though Bola Tinubu is saddle with myriads of domestic challenges, he still accepted his nomination for the post of ECOWAS Chairman where he has now made several blunders in respect of The unfortunate NIGERIEN Military Coup of Thursday 26th July, 2023!

6) Without thinking of the negative back lashes that could result from his rash decisions Tinubu decided to cut off electricity supply from Nigeria to NIGER which was a governmental Capital Investment under bilateral agreement! Who suffers the Coupists or the Citizens?

7) Nigerien citizens rejoice over the coup d'etat. Why would Bola Tinubu and his collaborators threaten fire and brimstones? 

8) Nigerien demonstrators carried Russian Flags on the streets to solicit Russian support. 

9) Nigerian Citizens on the Northern borders engage in business activities with their Nigerien counterparts but now the borders had to be shut for security reasons which we believe would be temporary - just like the power cut!

10) Niger is an independent and sovereign nation and therefore ECOWAS has limited oversight on the sovereign nation. 

11) Tinubu has denied that ECOWAS would employ military attack on the West African nation as the body's chairman.

12) The ultimatum given by ECOWAS expires Sunday 6th August 2023; what next?

13) On the home front, BAT is saddled myriads of domestic challenges- ripple negative effects of FAKE subsidy removal; namely: food and transport inflation in the range of over 300% costs; spates of fresh insecurity challenges; FOUR DORMANT REFINERIES on which billions of dollars have been expended over the years!

14) Tinubu says that the DYING CITIZENS should still tighten their belts while he has appointed over 20 Special Advisers and 48 dollar-consuming Cabinet Ministers without considering the OUTRAGEOUS COSTS OF GOVERNANCE IN THE ROGUISH PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM FORCED DOWN THE THROAT OF THE POOR MASSES!

15) Up to the time of this publication TINUBU has no single PALLIATIVES on ground for the TALAKAWAS but yet had the effrontery to legally challenge LABOR UNION LEADERS who eventually recovered their voices to engage workers on a very peaceful nation-wide protests  against the subsidy removal and a reversal of same on 2nd August 2023!

16) The United Labor Congress (NLC), and Trade Union Congress (TUC),!in spite Tinubu's legal distraction have given him till 14th August to do the needful or face an indefinite and total shut down of socio-economic activities across the nation! 

PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM IN NIGERIA IS ACCURSED - ANATHEMA!

Nothing good can come out of a criminally-induced, motivated and piloted government which with sheer impunity in just over 60 days of Tinubu's Administration completely manipulated the lives of over 150 million able-bodied, industrious and very hard-working Nigerian Citizens into a stupefied, helpless, disorientated and marginalized situation only for its Senators to turn the plight of suffering masses into A SING-SONG COMEDY - "LET THE POOR BREATH"!

This Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC), government was inherited from the old general BUHARI who mis-managed all financial resources and left behind an indebted country which has become odious among the comity of nations with only negative indexes to its charign!

Over 90% of Nigeria's Internally-Generated Revenue (IGR), is expended on DEBT SERVICING! 

Tinubu has no choice than to do the Will of God by initiating a POPULAR REFERENDUM to establish a UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT to accommodate GRASSROOTS PARTICIPATION!

SOME OF DIVIDENDS OF A PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM ARE AS FOLLOWS!

Cost effective; parliamentarians will collect minimal salaries, regular weekly meeting with Prime Minister and his executives, regular parliamentary meetings with the grassroots to assess socio- economic dividends, continuous prioritization of citizens requests or demands, job opportunities for all able- bodied citizens, weekly and monthly stipends for those awaiting employments etc.

TINUBU SHOULD BE AFRAID OF NIGERIAN CITIZENS - NOT SOLDIERS COUP DE TAT!

The Nigerian State currently has no Executive Arm of Government but luckily the man whom the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared as winner of the 2023 February Presidential Election has added another feather to his cap to legitimately govern the country as the current and bona fide Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). At the  ECOWAS Conference of Sunday,9th  July 2023, President Tinubu was elected as the new Chairman of the Body.

 In view  of this development he has become more confused and disillusioned because he is now PURSUING TWO RATS SIMULTANEOUSLY and would definitely lose both; according to an African adage!

First, he exhausted the entire 60 days window allowed by the amended 1999 Military Constitution of Nigeria as amended to appoint 37 ministers one from each State of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and could only come up with 28 Ministers at 1.30 pm on the last day, Thursday July 27th 2023, when the Senate was about to wind up for the week contrary to the Constitution's enactment. 

Second a military coup de tat suddenly occurred in Niger Republic, an ECOWAS member on Thursday 27th July 2023 and he quickly summoned a hurried summit to hold at the Aso Rock seat of government, Federal Capital Territory Abuja, to deliberate on the matter on Sunday 30th July 2023.

It was later reported that the ECOWAS caucus directed that the feuding soldiers should return to the barracks within SEVEN DAYS and restore the disposed President immediately.

Is Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), not in a dire strait? Has he not bitten too much to chew?

Third it was reported by the US Institute of Peace that the genesis of the NIGERIEN COUP was triggered, "....when a top military officer was disgruntled at being removed from his post by the president. We saw a positive but unsuccessful effort from within the region, by Nigeria, to prevent the coup. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu sent a planeload of his own senior officers to press the Niger military to abort the takeover. That kind of leadership from within the region is what we all need to support."

Nigerien soldiers finally declare coup despite Tinubu’s warning. Despite the warning issued on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Bola Tinubu, the Nigerien soldiers on Thursday morning took over power from President Mohamed Bazoum.

President Bazoum had been in detention since the early hours of Wednesday when the soldiers first attempted the coup. DAILY POST gathered that the soldiers announced the coup in a televised broadcast in the early hours of Thursday.

About 10 senior officers led by Colonel Major Amadou Abdramane said during the broadcast that the National Council of the State Guard of the Nation had decided to “put an end to the regime you are familiar with”.

According to them, the development followed deteriorating security situation in Niger, as well as bad social and economic management by the government.

“We reaffirm our support to all commitment undertaken by Niger,” the soldiers said.

ECOWAS, had through a statement by its Chairman, Tinubu condemned the earlier attempt, warning that the regional body, as well as the global community, would not condone disruption of constitutional order within the sub-region.

Niger coup leaders warn against ‘military intervention’ by ECOWAS

Niger’s military leaders have warned against any armed intervention in the country as West African heads of state gather in Nigeria’s capital for an emergency summit to decide on further actions to pressure the army to restore constitutional order.

Heads of state of the 15-member Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the eight-member West African Economic and Monetary Union, also known by its French acronym UEMOA, could suspend Niger from their institutions, cut off the country from the regional central bank and financial market, and close borders.

General Abdourahmane Tchiani – also known as Omar Tchiani, and the chief of Niger’s presidential guard – has declared himself leader while the country’s elected president, Mohamed Bazoum, has been held by the military since the coup took place last week.

Ahead of the Sunday ECOWAS summit, the military leaders in Niger warned against any military intervention in a statement read on Niger national television on Saturday night.

“The objective of the [ECOWAS] meeting is to approve a plan of aggression against Niger through an imminent military intervention in Niamey in collaboration with other African countries that are non-members of ECOWAS, and certain Western countries,” military spokesperson Colonel Amadou Abdramane said.

ECOWAS has the power to impose sanctions on Niger, which is one of its 15 members. Last year, its leaders agreed to create a regional security force to intervene against rebel groups and prevent military coups.

“There is so much talk here [at the summit] of sending a military force to intervene there [in Niger] that has got the military leaders in Niger worried at the moment,” Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reported from Abuja, adding that the threat of sanctions over the coup was also a cause for concern for the new rulers in Niamey.

“There has been a standby force for years, but it has never been activated in recent times. The [last] time it was activated was in 2017 in the Gambia … when former President Yahya Jammeh tried to stay in power after he lost the election to the current president,” Idris added.

Details on how that force would work and its funding are still unclear, with ECOWAS defence ministers expected to make decisions later this year.

Bola Tinubu, president of Nigeria and ECOWAS chairman, said on Friday that the West African bloc and the international community “would do everything to defend democracy and ensure democratic governance continues to take firm root in the region”. Ahead of Sunday’s gathering, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke to Tinubu to convey his “deep concern” over the situation in Niger, and “underscored his support for President Tinubu’s continued efforts to restore constitutional order” there.

‘Stay out’ 

Meanwhile, in Niamey, thousands of protesters also gathered outside the French embassy, with some trying to enter the building, according to the AFP news agency.

Former colonial ruler France and the European Union have suspended security cooperation and financial aid to Niger following the coup.

Some demonstrators ripped off and stamped on a plaque bearing the words “Embassy of France in Niger”, replacing it with Nigerien and Russian flags, while others shouted “Long live Russia”, “Long live Putin” and “Down with France”, AFP reported.

Protesters also tried to climb the walls of the embassy, while others stomped on burning French flags. “Anyone who attacks French nationals, the military, diplomats, or French interests will spur an immediate and uncompromising response from France,” French President Emmanuel Macron’s office said in a statement.

“Emmanuel Macron was able to speak again to Presidents Bazoum and [previous Niger leader Mahamadou] Issoufou in the last few hours, both of whom clearly condemned the coup and called for calm among the population,” the statement said.

Some taking part in Sunday’s rally also warned regional bodies who have denounced the coup to stay away.
