Ph.D. [“THE UNBROKEN CHAIN OF GRACE”!] 1.“GOD is a Spirit, and they that worship Him, MUST worship Him in spirit and in truth.”[Jn.4:24]. God as a Spirit Person is omnipresence, omnipotent and omniscient; and as the sole Creator of the Heaven and the Earth, possesses the sovereign power which requires all creation to comply with His eternal plan of obedience to His commandments, laws, precepts, and statutes, with desired expectations of accountability and righteous stewardship; yet, God chooses to remain benevolent to the extent that the SINNERS among them could still be saved by GRACE! [Rom.5:8]. This divine attitude poses a spiritual puzzle, which only God, in His divine capacity can wisely solve! 2. GRACE, is an extraordinary love, it is incomprehensible, unimaginable, indiscernible and beyond human comprehension. It is an all-embracing benevolence of the LORD GOD, the creator of the heavens and the earth, which is given with, “agape”(gr.), ie., the kind of love without borders, without let or hindrance, without human promptings or intercessions! This expression of GRACE, however transcends from a Superior to an Inferior, ie., from GOD to Man or Man to Man, but never from, Man to God! MAN CAN NEVER DO GOD A FAVOUR, NEVER! 3. MOST Bible scholars and teachers express the word ‘GRACE’ with the acrostic, “God’s Redemption At Christ’s Expense, or God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense,” etc., but the Holy Ghost acrostic on which the THEME of this book is hinged is, “God’s Revealed Atonement Continues Eternally.” COVENANT OF THE BENDED KNEES! 4. ABOUT a decade prior to 12.55am of 19th October, 2002, when God the Holy Spirit inspired this TREATISE, I made a COVENANT with the GOD HEAD that the manuscripts of my FIRST published work would be written on MY KNEES! What, in the name of the Lord, could have prompted such an unusual promise? I was spiritually influenced by a biographical account of Apostle James’, “Carmel knees”, in the, “Foxe’s Christian Martyrs of the World! It is recorded on page six, that the Apostle James,(half brother of the Lord), reverently called, “The Just” and “the safeguard of the people”, because of his holy life, spent so many hours in the Temple on BENDED KNEES, for the remission of the sins of his people,….” that his knees lost their sense of feeling and, became hardened like the knees of a CARMEL! 5. WHEN the Holy Spirit eventually gave His approval for this title, He reminded me of my covenant and, promptly, I went on my knees and proceeded. Two hours later, I felt discomfited but carried on; however, three hours on, there was this agonizing pain all over my body and I was about to renege on the covenant, when the voice came soothingly and very reassuringly; “….my grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness…” [2 Corinthians. 12:9]. 6.BRETHREN, this book is the reward of GOD’S revelation through the obedience of BENDED KNEES! MY FATHER’S BUSINESS, ONE DECADE AND SIX, STILL COUNTING! FOR 72- consecutive quality hours and at a tender age of twelve years, the Lord Jesus Christ sat in a Temple Conference with eminent scholars, doctors of law, professors and philosophers of His time, listening to their thesis, doctrine and analysis, in respect of the Scriptures, while His parents troubled over His ‘mysterious disappearance’! The strict observance of the annual Jewish festival of the Feast of Passover, divinely commanded by God, took Joseph, Mary and Jesus, who was a first-timer, to Jerusalem, after the custom of the feast. According to the Jewish Calendar, it was held annually on the 14 of the Month of Nisan which commemorated the saving events of the Israelites who exited from Egyptian bondage after 430 years of slavery and servitude of the worst type of human degradation. [Read, Exodus.12:1-34; compare with Chapters 1-11 and Genesis 15:13-14]. When they had fulfilled the Pentecost which attracted multitudes of worshippers, Jesus’ parents who journeyed back to Nazareth and for 24 hours, were unaware of Jesus’ absence among the throng, quickly returned to the Temple only to find Him on the third day sited among the intellectual ‘gurus’ of Palestine, both listening, asking questions with great knowledge, to the amazement and astonishment of all people, including His parents! In a spiritually worded answer to His mother’s query for inconveniencing them, Jesus Christ said, “How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” [Luke. 2:49; compare with verses 41-48 and 50-52]. His Father in this context is the God-Head and not Joseph, the carpenter and His Father’s business began in the Temple and extends into the salvation of the world! His Father’s business has nothing to do with commerce and industry! Though the parents could not comprehend the spiritual interpretation of that account of His Divine Assignment, Jesus went home with them as a good child, subjected Himself to their authority and increased in wisdom, stature and had favour with God and man! As a boy, Jesus Christ, under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit, knew His life mission, keyed into it and subsequently grew to maturity and adulthood. With great spiritual authority and precision, Prophet Isaiah predicted the Lord’s qualifications, even before His birth as follows: “The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. The Lord God hath opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.”[Isaiah. 50:4-5]. This prediction was confirmed by the Lord Himself when handed the TORAH –that is, the Books of the Law and the Prophets- on HIS FIRST OUTING AT THE SYNAGOGUE. He opened the Book of Isaiah Chapter 61:1-3, and read out following MISSION STATEMENT: “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me because the LORD has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captive and recovering of sight to the blind; to set at liberty, them that are bruised and the opening of prison to them that are bound. To proclaim, the acceptable year of the LORD, vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.” *Like the Lord Jesus Christ, every child of God has a spiritual mission to fulfil on earth because we are His off-shoot and were not created to fulfil the lusts of the world, but HIS OWN DESIRE OF A LIFE-LONG OBEDIENCE TO HIS HOLY LAWS AND COMMANDMENTS! *We are in a decadent 21 Century world where all forms of decent behaviour and good morality have been discarded for the absurdities of civilization and technology which have led the youths of tender ages like the Lord, to opt for carnality and sins that damn the soul instead of discovering divine visions and missions! Figure16, being the adolescence link age between childhood and adulthood, presents the platform for any sincere person, to entrench a life of obedience to God’s high moral expectations in this transient world which leads Man back to his Creator for accountability and inescapable judgement! A sixteen year old boy or girl is tagged, “SWEET SIXTEEN” and generally acclaimed by society as very innocent, pure, clean, unadulterated, even ‘holy’ in attitude, culture, mannerism and religion and is therefore required to live above board. At that age, an adolescent is at the peak of FORMATIVE AGE and ready to transit into the foundational ages of 17-21, which terminates into adulthood! Spiritually at that age, the youth should covet the support of the Holy Spirit to resist a loose life of “youthful exuberance”, and begin to inculcate a decent and new life of absolute dedication to the Creator. It is written, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. For they that are after the flesh, do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally-minded is death; but to be spiritually-minded is life and peace.” AT SIXTEEN ZION B-BC IS SPIRITUALLY-MINDED CARRY THE LORD’S CRUSADE TO ITS LOGICAL CONCLUSION! [ A Publication of the Zion Faith Bible-Believing Church, Kpeyegyi, Abuja.] Vol.33. 30-03-14. “HOW DID WE EVER FALL TO GROUND ZERO!” Right from the period of masses agitation for a ‘Sovereign National Conference’, to government’s resistance to such god-forsaken demand and Mr. President’s eventual ‘change of heart’, for a SUBTLE NATIONAL CONFERENCE, we have always been in support of a genuine dialogue based on patriotic ideals, national interests and motives! But we are disappointed by the introduction of monetary incentives, to the tune of a whooping N12million naira, (twelve million, which government has not denied), per delegate, for the three-month duration of the talks! This Greek-gift, which no doubt, signifies the President’s assertion as the PIPER, is already paying dividends in the 75per cent or three-quarters affirmative action suggested by the convener, for every decision to be reached at the Conference! And for the second time in its two-week life, Conference has gone on recess to allow for frayed nerves calm down! This brings the debate to the issue of the “NATIONAL CAKE”, which was presented to Nigerians by British Governor-General, Sir. James Robertson, through Nigeria’s Prime Minister, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, on October 1, 1960! There is a general belief that the 2014 National Conference delegates, rightly deserved their own portion of the national cake and that whatever decisions were reached, “twelve milla” each would be worthy compensation for their ‘efforts’! The Nigerian nation is predicated on the carnal foundation for the LOVE OF MONEY, which the Word of God, describes as, “….a root of all kinds of evil…..some people eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs!” [1Timothy. 6:10]. Let us take a critical look at the calibre of personalities who accepted to be delegates and their pedigrees. But for the Youths and Market Women Associations delegates, who are 24 in number, all other delegates could sponsor themselves or be sponsored by their various States or Associations for the duration of the conference, even if it would take a calendar year to achieve and fulfil the yearnings and aspirations for a better Nigeria! But, No! They would not touch any part of their ‘treasures of billions of naira and dollars’, stored up on this earth; they would rather partake more of the National Cake which they contributed no ingredients to bake! They would take more and more like ‘Oliver Twist’….they would eat until they vomit and die like the children of Israel, during their exhibition of gluttony, in the wilderness.[ Read, Numbers.11:4-6,18-20,31-34]. Most of them were adolescents at Nigeria’s independence; neither they nor their forebears contributed to the struggle towards independence in any form, but today, they are in the forefront of the struggle as “ELDER STATESMEN,” to share at all cost or plunder the CAKE, if need be! Do they have righteous motives or hidden agendas? Are they just opportunists whose only purpose in life is always to reap where they never sowed? Is it surprising that the ‘no-go’ area was the first port of call of a Nigerian delegate and a traditional head from the North West who said he would have no qualms if Nigeria broke up because his “kingdom” extended to the Cameroon where he would gladly migrate with his people! Monetization or what was known as “settlement”, during the ‘Babangida Military Junta’, has become a norm in the Nigerian society, even in the homes. YOU NEED TO MONETIZE OR SETTLE YOUR CHILD OR WARD FOR HIM OR HER TO RUN AN ERRAND! This unholy ethic has become cancerous to the extent of wiping out of existence, any form of opposition to a SITTING GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA! One ugly trend is playing out with impunity under the very nose of Mr. President, his Finance Minister and the maligned masses of this great nation by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), who insists that his outfit must be insulated from any form of accusation of corruption through unremitted or missing funds to the Federation Account, in spite of the ongoing probes at the National Assembly and the FORENSIC AUDITING ordered on NNPC by government! Strangely enough, no one in government or the NASS, has called Mr. Andrew Yakubu, who is pre-empting the outcome of the investigations and probes, to order! There is no doubt that between Sanusi’s whistle blowing of the initial unremitted $49.8 billion US dollars, now whittled down to $20billion, a lot of waters, in form of persuasive, monetized inducement and intimidating settlements, have passed under the bridge and to borrow a Yoruba cliché from the late Chief MKO Abiola, “once the COCK has been settled with sufficient corn grains, it would find it very difficult to CROW! WE MAKE BOLD TO SAY THAT THERE IS NO OPPOSITION PARTY IN NIGERIA FOR THE FOLLOWING CREDIBLE REASONS: *The pre-colonial periods of the Nigerian history of the master-servant relationship, made the few articulate but poor agitators of that time to focus more on how to take over the fortunes of flashy automobiles, modern houses fashion/ trendy civilized lifestyles and of course, the TREASURY and even, the MISTRESSES of their MASTERS, than the arduous and tasking duties of nation-building of the post-independence era! *October 1, 1960 gave the country the legitimate platform to operate as a democracy but the new players were suspicious of one another. Has the story of CORRUPTION AND IMPUNITY changed in spite of all military coups and the few muzzled agitations for ‘good governance’, by successive administrations? The answer is an emphatic, NO, otherwise, there would have been no need for the ‘fatted cows’ of the society to get fatter through the sharing of N7billion booty National Conference Monetization, while Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic are still on strike, 8-months on! The ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS [APC], is not an opposition party! The Armoured Personnel Carrier was manufactured and commissioned for COVETOUSNESS and that is, to ‘CARRY GO’ more portion of the National Cake, than what the ruling party had cornered in 16 years of looting! Nigerian politicians and leaders in position of authority who pursue the covetous monetary agenda of grabbing and expending the commonwealth to pursue their personal agenda through SETTLEMENTS AND MONETIZATION, have cases to answer before God, who will demand for the account of their stewardship at the WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT![Revelation.20:11-15; compare with verses 1-10]. “Then I saw a great white throne and Him that was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they have done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. A pariah is a person who is not accepted by a social group, especially because he/she is not liked, respected or trusted. A pariah is an OUTCAST! Our present crop of leadership from all indications, is bent on turning Nigeria into PARIAH NATION through their pretentious and deceitful agendas of self-aggrandizement instead of nation-building! Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mallam Aminu Kano, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, patriots and foremost nationalists of blessed memories, have no earthly treasures or edifices to show for all their efforts in nation-building, but their lofty ideals remain indelible in the hearts of all good people of this universe and of their creator. We also have a good example of patriotism in the sterling leadership qualities of late Pa Anthony Enahoro, the last man standing among the “freedom fighters”, who devoted his time and resources for Nigeria’s emancipation from the position of an underdog colony to become an independent nation of repute. He also joined the Saints triumphant on Wednesday, 15 December 2010, at the age of 87. In a eulogy at that time, President of the Campaign for Democracy[CD], Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin, recalled with fond memories, Pa Enahoro’s role, when he moved the motion for Nigeria’s Independence in 1953, and how he stood tall among the few genuine heroes of Nigeria’s democracy, because, Pa Enahoro devoted his entire life to extending the frontiers of democracy and the rule of law without compromising his beliefs and was rigid in defence of truth and righteousness! During the inglorious regime of General Sanni Abacha, he and his PRONACO[Pro-National Conference Organisation] and NADECO[National Democratic Coalition] compatriots stood their ground for justice and equity in the land, even at the expense of their lives! What do the present generation of leaders know about JUSTICE, EQUITY, TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS? Do they believe that it is only righteousness that can exalt Nigeria and that SIN would remain a reproach and permanent blemish? “To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free……I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”[John.8:31-32,34-36]. Let it be known to all FAKE LEADERS in Nigeria that this country belongs to GOD and if GOD were their FATHER, they would love Nigeria and protect it jealously even with their lives! THE SWORD OF JEHU AND “PILES OF MESS!” CRUDE OIL THEFT in the Niger Delta region, would continue unabated until the Federal Government began to apprehend and prosecute the eminent personalities involved in this financial crime. This statement was credited to the Delta State Governor who doubles as Chairman the National Economic Council on Crude Oil Theft, during the recent Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference 2014. The Governor who canvassed for the urgent prosecution of the ‘big players’ in the business, also revealed that 80 per cent of the stolen oil was sold in the international market but regrets that only the small oil thieves were being arrested! He is yet to turn over the list of the culprits to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] for the recommended prosecution. *As the battle for supremacy of the Federal troops over the Boko Haram insurgents assumed higher tactical operations in the last week, Peoples Democratic Party’s [PDP], spokesman lamented that those eminent Nigerians who boasted in 2011, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan, were the masterminds of the terror being unleashed adding that, Jonathan’s crime was his minority tribe pedigree! He also has not forwarded any list of suspects to the Nigeria Police. *The ‘CIVILIANS’ at the Federal Ministry of Defence are being accused of withholding funds appropriated for military hardware and personnel welfare, to the detriment of the combatants morale at the various ‘battle fronts’ against the insurgency! The Army Generals, who claimed that the shoddy handling of armed forces appropriation, has resulted into the present imbroglio of undermining the fire power, professional capability and integrity of the Joint Task Force. They regarded such civilian intrusion as creating ‘piles of mess’ which has elongated the Boko Haram operation more than necessary and should be cleared without further delay! *Bornu State Governor has insinuated that the JTF were handicapped and that the Boko Haram terrorists possessed better sophisticated weapons! The Civilian Governor had no statistics, only sentiments! *“FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES ON PETROL AND KEROSINE must be totally removed to allow for free flow and distribution of the products to the down-trodden masses because of increasingly dwindling revenue! ” –Minister of Petroleum Resources disclosed at a recent Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Conference in Abuja. If and when the subsidies are removed, Nigerians will pay a minimum N144.66 instead of the present N97.00, per litre of petrol while kerosene will cost N154.36 instead of N50.00, per litre. She also claimed incessant pipeline vandalization as another strong reason for the removal of subsidies! However, she has failed to tell Nigerians whether the TOTAL REMOVAL OF THESE ‘SUBSIDIES’ WILL AUTOMATICALLY STOP PIPELINE VANDALIZATION ACROSS THE NATION! *On Thursday 13 March 2014, the Forum of Commissioners of Finance of the 36 States of the Federation, passed a resolution for the removal of fuel subsidies in view of perceived irregularities in the fuel subsidy regime, and for 2014, as in 2013, Federal Government has budgeted N971Billion, for petrol subsidy. *In respect of Kerosine, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, according to reliable and available records, revealed that a subsidy of over N1Trillion, was paid between 2010 and 2013, whereas payment of subsidies on imported finished products, is an acceptance of failure and bad business in the Petroleum Sector! *Barrels of oil stolen in 2013 according to the Group Managing Director[GMD], of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company [NNPC], was 109.5million, which break-down figures show that 300.000 barrels, were stolen per day! But Royal Dutch Shell, a major foreign oil company says Nigeria loses about $12billion US Dollars or more annually to the activities of oil thieves! *The illegal Excess Crude Account in which extra income made from the sales of crude oil in the international market and above the Budget benchmark, is “saved”, has been depleted from $865billion US dollars, at the end of 2012, to $2.11billion, at the beginning of March, 2014, according to reliable sources, but Finance Minister, claimed on Sunday 16 instant, that it had risen to $3.45billion! *Our external reserves have continued to drop from last year’s peak of $48.85billion in May to $38.65billion on March 14, 2014, according the latest data on the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria. *In spite of the tons of accusations of the highest-level corruption against the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] ‘by all peoples of Nigeria’, its GMD, had the audacity and effrontery to assert, in an interview, that no money or fund was missing after all! *Also in the last week, Mr. President back-pedalled again to announce during a state tour to Namibia, for the umpteenth time, for whoever cares to listen, that the issue of CORRUPTION in Nigeria, was an EXAGGERATION, as far as he was concerned! All of the above facts are sufficient fertile grounds to nurture inordinate ambition for power which corrupts absolutely, even in a do-or-die manner, but divine intervention has always been Nigeria’s grace. American award-winning Scientist and Social Critic, David Brin says, “It is said that POWER corrupts but actually, it’s truer that POWER attracts the corruptible. The SANE are usually attracted by other things than POWER.” Political corruption is not a recent phenomenon that pervades the Nigerian country because since independence, there have been cases of official misuse of resources for personal enrichment. In fact the very first Chancellor of Exchequer, pilfered! Nigeria ranked 139 out of 176 countries in Transparency International 2012, Corruption Perceptions Index, tied with A zebaijan, Kenya, Nepal and Pakistan! Our green-covered travelling document has become ‘anathema’!! The discovery of Petroleum and Natural Gas, are two major national upgrading, believed to have ignited the abominable and ignoble corruption which had frittered away the abundant wealth of this nation with nothing to show in the living condition of the 80 per cent population of the poor masses! Chief Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory once opined that, “since Nigeria’s independence, the government has been a matter of few holding the cow for the strongest and most-cunning to milk and under those circumstances, everybody runs over everybody to make good at the expense of everybody!” A great English Intellectual, Reverend Charles Caleb[1790-1932], also said, “Corruption is like a ball of snow, once, it is set a-rolling, it must increase.” In Nigeria, Government officials bribe one another to get Government business done! It is as bad as that and yet Mr President and his cronies say the malaise is EXAGGERATED! The Word of God says, “ The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their DUPLICITY….. with his mouth, the godless destroys his neighbour, but through knowledge the righteous escape….through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.”[Proverbs.11:3,9.11]. The causes of corruption in Nigeria is an OPEN BOOK, even to the village ‘illiterates’! They include but not limited to illicit monetary gains from the preferred very expensive Presidential system for a third-world country as Nigeria, the issue of ‘god-fatherism’ in political offices and appointments, the do-or-die syndrome of election rigging and ballot box snatching, dubious and over-inflated contract awards contrary to due process, nepotism and tribalism features in government appointments, outright embezzlement of public funds, lack of accountability in respect of procurement and appropriation, culture of impunity by indicted officers who were never punished due to cult affiliation, lack of transparency and openness in public service and the introduction of PLEA BAGAINNING in high-profile embezzlement cases where the rouge is allowed to part with a little amount of ill-gotten wealth and then keep the rest! These and more are the prevalent factors coupled with the absence of key anti-corruption tools and the culture and acceptance of corruption as a way of life by the populace through very bad leadership! All of the above and more revelations to be exposed point to one Gospel truth that the wicked ones are in the saddle of power and the appointed time to ease them out could not be better than now when the National Conference is in full throttle and 2015 General Elections is just months away! Many Nigerians today live above their visible and legitimate earnings and incomes; otherwise, how does one explain the sources for the financing of those luxurious and palatial stately mansions that have clustered many Nigerian cities, towns, hamlets and even villages! What about the sumptuously lavish social parties, very expensive state-of-the-art automobiles, owned and always on display by large number of civil servants, businessmen, military personnel – serving and retired! David Brin suggests that the wrong people should not be allowed to get into positions of influence and merit at all! At a time during his ministry, Prophet Elijah, became so agitated over the sinful and recalcitrant nation of Israel and to God’s question, he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword, I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” The LORD said to him, “Go back the way you came and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazel king over Aram. Also anoint Jehu, son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha, son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. Jehu will put to death anyone who escape the sword of Hazel and Elisha will put to death anyone who escape the sword of Jehu. Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel - all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have no kissed him”.[1Kings. 19:14-18, and 2Kings.9:1-10:34]. Jehu was a Military Commander in the Israeli Army, before his coronation. The import of this biblical text is that it is God and only God that can repair all crooked people and nations in any way or manner that pleases Him! He is omnipresence, omnipotent, omniscient and He is sovereign over all His creation! If it worked for Israel, it will work for Nigeria. But for the Youths and Market Women Associations delegates, who are 24 in number, all other delegates could sponsor themselves or be sponsored by their various States or Associations for the duration of the conference, even if it would take a calendar year to achieve and fulfil the yearnings and aspirations for a better Nigeria! But, No! They would not touch any part of their ‘treasures of billions of naira and dollars’, stored up on this earth; they would rather partake more of the National Cake which they contributed no ingredients to bake! They would take more and more like ‘Oliver Twist’….they would eat until they vomit and die like the children of Israel, during their exhibition of gluttony, in the wilderness.[ Read, Numbers.11:4-6,18-20,31-34]. Most of them were adolescents at Nigeria’s independence; neither they nor their forebears contributed to the struggle towards independence in any form, but today, they are in the forefront of the struggle as “ELDER STATESMEN,” to share at all cost or plunder the CAKE, if need be! Do they have righteous motives or hidden agendas? Are they just opportunists whose only purpose in life is always to reap where they never sowed? Is it surprising that the ‘no-go’ area was the first port of call of a Nigerian delegate and a traditional head from the North West who said he would have no qualms if Nigeria broke up because his “kingdom” extended to the Cameroon where he would gladly migrate with his people! Monetization or what was known as “settlement”, during the ‘Babangida Military Junta’, has become a norm in the Nigerian society, even in the homes. YOU NEED TO MONETIZE OR SETTLE YOUR CHILD OR WARD FOR HIM OR HER TO RUN AN ERRAND! This unholy ethic has become cancerous to the extent of wiping out of existence, any form of opposition to a SITTING GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA! One ugly trend is playing out with impunity under the very nose of Mr. President, his Finance Minister and the maligned masses of this great nation by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), who insists that his outfit must be insulated from any form of accusation of corruption through unremitted or missing funds to the Federation Account, in spite of the ongoing probes at the National Assembly and the FORENSIC AUDITING ordered on NNPC by government! Strangely enough, no one in government or the NASS, has called Mr. Andrew Yakubu, who is pre-empting the outcome of the investigations and probes, to order! There is no doubt that between Sanusi’s whistle blowing of the initial unremitted $49.8 billion US dollars, now whittled down to $20billion, a lot of waters, in form of persuasive, monetized inducement and intimidating settlements, have passed under the bridge and to borrow a Yoruba cliché from the late Chief MKO Abiola, “once the COCK has been settled with sufficient corn grains, it would find it very difficult to CROW! WE MAKE BOLD TO SAY THAT THERE IS NO OPPOSITION PARTY IN NIGERIA FOR THE FOLLOWING CREDIBLE REASONS: *The pre-colonial periods of the Nigerian history of the master-servant relationship, made the few articulate but poor agitators of that time to focus more on how to take over the fortunes of flashy automobiles, modern houses fashion/ trendy civilized lifestyles and of course, the TREASURY and even, the MISTRESSES of their MASTERS, than the arduous and tasking duties of nation-building of the post-independence era! *October 1, 1960 gave the country the legitimate platform to operate as a democracy but the new players were suspicious of one another. Allegation was rife that the baton was deliberately passed by the British to some ‘persons from the under-developed’ part to the detriment of the other, in order to balance the equation of ECONOMIC GROWTH, but instead of capitalizing on our diversity to harness the needed development, the myopic leaders in a vicious rat-race, competed for who grabs what from the left-over of the former colonists! *Between 1960 and 1966, the military, as far as the emerging politicians were concerned, did not exist and were completely marginalized, though they had the ARMOURY AND THE GUNS! The story of Nigeria’s developmental strides to achieve egalitarian status as a nation from 1966, when the first military coup was staged, to date, will remain in the annals of history for posterity to judge! Has the story of CORRUPTION AND IMPUNITY changed in spite of all military coups and the few muzzled agitations for ‘good governance’, by successive administrations? The answer is an emphatic, NO, otherwise, there would have been no need for the ‘fatted cows’ of the society to get fatter through the sharing of N7billion booty National Conference Monetization, while Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic are still on strike, 8-months on! The ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS [APC], is not an opposition party! The Armoured Personnel Carrier was manufactured and commissioned for COVETOUSNESS and that is, to ‘CARRY GO’ more portion of the National Cake, than what the ruling party had cornered in 16 years of looting! We are still going round in a vicious circle of, THE LOVE OF MONEY, which is condemnable by our CREATOR! “BUT GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN, FOR WE BROUGHT NOTHING INTO THE WORLD, AND WE CAN TAKE NOTHING OUT OF IT. Nigerian politicians and leaders in position of authority who pursue the covetous monetary agenda of grabbing and expending the commonwealth to pursue their personal agenda through SETTLEMENTS AND MONETIZATION, have cases to answer before God, who will demand for the account of their stewardship at the WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT![Revelation.20:11-15; compare with verses 1-10]. “Then I saw a great white throne and Him that was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they have done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”[Verses.11-15]. Are you conversant with this noun/adjective called PARIAH? A pariah is a person who is not accepted by a social group, especially because he/she is not liked, respected or trusted. A pariah is an OUTCAST! Our present crop of leadership from all indications, is bent on turning Nigeria into PARIAH NATION through their pretentious and deceitful agendas of self-aggrandizement instead of nation-building! Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mallam Aminu Kano, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, patriots and foremost nationalists of blessed memories, have no earthly treasures or edifices to show for all their efforts in nation-building, but their lofty ideals remain indelible in the hearts of all good people of this universe and of their creator. We also have a good example of patriotism in the sterling leadership qualities of late Pa Anthony Enahoro, the last man standing among the “freedom fighters”, who devoted his time and resources for Nigeria’s emancipation from the position of an underdog colony to become an independent nation of repute. He also joined the Saints triumphant on Wednesday, 15 December 2010, at the age of 87. In a eulogy at that time, President of the Campaign for Democracy[CD], Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin, recalled with fond memories, Pa Enahoro’s role, when he moved the motion for Nigeria’s Independence in 1953, and how he stood tall among the few genuine heroes of Nigeria’s democracy, because, Pa Enahoro devoted his entire life to extending the frontiers of democracy and the rule of law without compromising his beliefs and was rigid in defence of truth and righteousness! During the inglorious regime of General Sanni Abacha, he and his PRONACO[Pro-National Conference Organisation] and NADECO[National Democratic Coalition] compatriots stood their ground for justice and equity in the land, even at the expense of their lives! What do the present generation of leaders know about JUSTICE, EQUITY, TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS? Do they believe that it is only righteousness that can exalt Nigeria and that SIN would remain a reproach and permanent blemish? “To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free……I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”[John.8:31-32,34-36]. Let it be known to all FAKE LEADERS in Nigeria that this country belongs to GOD and if GOD were their FATHER, they would love Nigeria and protect it jealously even with their lives! God is ready to move us to the TOP among the comity of nations if only we can all live in obedience, embrace truth and righteousness to fulfil His promise which says, “The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”[Deuteronomy.28:13]. AMEN. NIGERIA is at a cross-road in its annals of history as a, ‘third world’ developing nation. Very recently, from the 28 February through 6 March, 2014, we celebrated 100 years (a century), of the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern British Protectorates of the country in 1914, by the then Colonial Governor- General, Sir. Frederick Lugard, with so much pomp and pageantry. Before this celebration which gulped billions of the Nigerian naira tax-payers funds, though shrouded under ‘private-partnership arrangement,’ a National Conference of 492 delegates, aimed at discussing the country’s myriad of challenges, not including a break-up of the 1914 merger, had been slated for March 2014. This meeting will cost government, at least N7billion to convene! We have always supported the doctrine of peace through dialogue and not war and strongly believe that this move by the present administration will succeed. However, it is saddening and heart-breaking to note that the insurgency of militant groups and criminal activities of kidnappers and economic saboteurs are still gaining momentum due to what political analysts describe as declining morale of the Joint Task Force, saddled with the war against Boko Haram terrorists! It has been alleged, but denied by government that these patriotic soldiers, whose lives are on the line, are being short-changed in salaries and allowances! IT HAD BETTER BEEN UNTRUE! Do we need to remind relevant authorities of the “prophetic break-up” of Nigeria in 2015, which is just nine months away? The United States of America’s Government, after the 2007 ‘do-or-die’ general elections and the endemic and large-scale corruption which had be-devilled the nation since independence, predicted that Nigeria would destroy itself and nothing would be left of the nation, except, HEAPS OF ASHES! We have all condemned the United States for being so blunt but what can we say of the situation of perennial state of insecurity staring all of us in the face? Delegates to the National Conference will begin to jaw-jaw from Monday 17th March 2014 to iron out all grey areas of our collective disagreements and misunderstandings as a diversified nation in the next three months and we look forward to a lasting and binding solution to the 100 years of the national malaise of integration because, nothing shall be impossible for GOD to achieve! What to expect on the front burner for discussion, should include but not limited to issues of: *True Federalism of a weak centre and strong federating units, *A change from the presidential to parliamentary form of government, *Political offices of the Legislature should be reduced to part-time of a unicameral chamber, *Constitutional provision for a penalty for life sentence for grievous issues of CORRUPTION be enacted to stamp out this CANCER, that has almost destroyed the image of the good people of Nigeria, *A two-party structure of politicking should be legalized to reduce desperation of political jobbers, *Two-term presidency and parliamentary tenure should be introduced to make room for others to participate in the act of governance, *Free and compulsory primary, secondary and subsidized tertiary education be provided for all school age youths, *Employment opportunities for all able-bodied citizens must be made available, as no one should be idle, even those with physical disabilities, *Agriculture should once again be given its priority of place as foreign exchange earner for the nation, *The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation should be subjected to FORENSIC OVERHAUL to allow for fresh injection of citizens of good morals, proven integrity, honest and righteous disposition, to effectively man the sector to render necessary dividends of democracy to all and sundry, *Employments should be based on qualifications and merit in order to have the best hands on board at all times, *Housing facilities must be legalized as a constitutional right for all Nigerians, *All manners of discrimination in respect of state, tribe, caste, language, culture or tradition must be totally discouraged to allow for the Nigerian citizenship and identity, etc. There was a period in Nigeria after independence when the citizens enjoyed absolute peace, tranquillity and economic buoyancy. In those days businesses were transacted, with so much honesty at the banks, post offices, markets places, ports, auto garages and railway stations! You may forget a bag of money in any of these places or even at your door steps and recover it the following morning! IT WAS AS GOOD AS THAT AND IT HAPPENED IN NIGERIA! The good old days will be back again in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach.”[Proverbs14:34]. “To obey is better than sacrifice and to heed is better than the fat of rams …For rebellion is like the sin of divination and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.” [1Samuel15:22-23]. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.[2Chronicles 7:14]. There cannot be a more opportune time than this, when the Hand of the Living God is rested upon President Jonathan to perform that which is most needful and pleasing to HIM! Let all of us in a concerted manner be prayerful over the approved delegates that they may perform excellently through creditable and workable contributions that will turn around the social, political and economic climate for better performances, for the just shall live by faith. “Now, FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”[Hebrews.11:1]. Our wish for Nigerian leaders is for them to be remorseful over our present predicament with a determination to turn things around for the best. If all pilfering and lootings from the public treasury by the custodians of these monies are stopped, there will be abundant funds to meet all public needs in areas of the basic necessities of life and collective education of the masses. Abraham, whom God established as Father of many nations in the Old Testament Bible times, for exhibiting righteous faith, would have been childless, if he had believed the testimony of his wife instead of JEHOVAH’S! The LORD had said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah, your wife, will have a son. Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already old and well-advanced in years and Sarah was past the age of child bearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?’ Then the LORD said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child now that I am old?’ Is there anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time and Sarah will have a son.” Sarah became pregnant at 90 years and bore a son to Abraham, who was then 100 years (a centenarian), according to the word of GOD! [Genesis.18:10-13; 21:1-6]. God is bigger and mightier than our challenges of insecurity through insurgency and other crimes with which Nigeria is burdened and therefore, is able to give the desired victory to the nation provided we acknowledge, trust and lean on HIM absolutely. We must believe GOD’S TESTIMONY! AT THE AGE OF 100 YEARS, ABRAHAM BIRTHED A SON; AT 100 YEARS AS A NATION NIGERIA ALSO IS ABLE TO HAVE THE PEACE THAT IS BEYOND HUMAN UNDERSTANDING, PROVIDED WE DIALOGUE WITH FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT AND ARMS OF FLESH, AT THE ON-GOING NATIONAL CONFERENCE! IF CENTINARIANS COULD MAKE BABIES ACCORDING TO GOD’S PURPOSIVE WILL, CENTAINLY, NIGERIA AS A NATION AT 100, CAN DWELL IN HARMONY AND ALSO BASK IN THE EUPHORIA OF PEACE IN SPITE OF THE PRESENT STATE OF INSECURITY BLOODSHED AND MAN’S INHUMANITY TO MAN, IN JESUS CHRIST’S NAME! The Lord Jesus Christ says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”[John.14:27]. ZION B-BC NEWSLETTER. [ A Publication of the Zion Faith Bible-Believing Church, Kpeyegyi, Abuja.] Vol.30. 09-03-14. THE NOMAD FULANI ‘MILITANT BASE’ IN BENUE IS A TIME BOMB! In spite of the move by President, Goodluck Jonathan, to assist Benue State to dislodge armed nomadic Fulani herdsmen who were threatening their peaceful co-existence, they, (nomads), succeeded in attacking and killing several people, mostly Benue farmers, last week! The nomads’ strategy is to create an assault launch- base in this Central State, from where they could attack in any direction round-about, to Plateau, Nassarawa, Kaduna or even, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. These Fulani are extremely dangerous because, they are always fully armed, itinerant and can easily disappear into bushes and forests without ever being apprehended after any attack, and there is virtually no Nigerian farmer who has not had a ‘deadly’ brush with these nomads in any part of the federation! The Fulani herdsmen/ farmers clashes over grazing rights in Nigeria, has always been a bone of contention between the two parties from time immemorial. In some cases, amicable solutions were proffered, while others, resulted in bloody clashes with fatalities! A renewed and sustained assault of these herdsmen with Tiv farmers in Adeke Village, a suburb of Makurdi, erupted late 2013 and spread with impunity to Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Bornu, Imo, Enugu, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, in January 2014! In all, hundreds of human lives, including some soldiers and a Senator’s nephew in Oyo State, were lost; over 200 houses were razed! We are aware that all security agencies are at ‘red alert’, but the most important and very urgent action is a quick resolution of this grave conflict which poses a time bomb, just waiting to detonate! Though, the right to free grazing routes across Nigeria seems to be the crux of the incessant conflict, it is believed that, some fifth columnists, are supplying arms and ammunition to the herdsmen in order to make the Nigerian State ungovernable for their selfish political gains through these itinerant ‘foot combatants’! We must not forget that the Fulani nomads are mere custodians and serfs to the millionaire owners of these cattle, goats and sheep. Second, we must also be wary that if cautious steps are not urgently employed, insurgents may infiltrate their ranks to penetrate other parts of the nation! There are also Fulani cattle rustlers, mercenaries who would work for the highest bidder! With the right incentive, they had invaded well-stocked cattle ranches, maimed and killed watchmen and guards, carted away stolen cattle to their principals for disposal in the black market! We are aware that there is a Bill in respect of the need for approved grazing routes before the House of Representatives which deserves urgent attention to avoid further violent clashes between these two groups which play vital roles in our agrarian and livestock economy. A Nigerian gun-runner was last week arrested in Gombe, en-route Plateau, to deliver the third consignment of a saloon car-load of AK 47 Rifles and ammunitions, to an undisclosed destination in the State! WHO ARE THE FULANI AND WHY HAVE THEY SUDDENLY BECOME SO AGGRESSIVE? Although their origin is obscure but linked to Mauritania, due to their similarities in appearance, existence of a Fulfude-speaking minority there and the possibility of a North-Western origin of Fulani migration. From the 14 Century, this largest pastoralist group in Africa, spread from Senegal into over 20 countries in West Africa, including Guinea, Gambia and Sudan. The Fulani are traditionally a nomadic, pastoralist, trading people who herd cattle, goats and sheep across the vast dry hinterlands of their domain, keeping somewhat separate from the local agricultural population. Many scholars believe that the Fulani are of the Judaeco-Syrian origin, but it is generally recognized that the Fulani descended from nomads of both North and Sub-Sahara Africa. They also came from the Middle East and North Africa and settled into Central and West Africa, Senegal, Ghana Nigeria etc. It is said that in Nigeria, the Fulani also known as Fulbe, Puel or Fula brought Islam by force to the pagan/animist Hausa states centuries ago through various wars or JIHADS in order to install Islamic leadership. One such Jihad was led by USMAN DAN FODIO, (Writer and Leader), in 1804 and resulted in the formation of the SOKOTO CALIPHATE, which became a powerful empire in Northern Nigeria. The Fulani ruled over this booming, economic, military and scholarly kingdom that traded successfully with the rest of the world and throughout history have held leadership roles in various Hausa communities they settled into, working as judges, teachers, emirs and clerks. Though the Sokoto Caliphate fell as a result of British invasion, the Fulani maintained a cultural distinction noted in their stricter adherence to Islam and leadership positions as part of the elite of Northern Nigeria as well as physical distinction noted in their lighter skin and slimmer features. These distinctions, coupled with an awareness of their history of conquests and rulership, often gave rise to feeling of superiority, by the Fulani over the Hausa. These leadership positions are recognizable in Nigeria as most Northern Presidents and Heads of State, the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (Nigeria’s First Prime Minister,1960-1966), Alhaji Shehu Shagari(President 1979-1983), Army General Mohammed Buhari and Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua(2007-2010), are of Fulani descent. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the richest individual in Africa, is also a Fulani. With strong Islamic identity and a population of about 18.7 million in Nigeria, their traditional nomadic lifestyle of roaming the country side in search of pasture have constantly brought them into violent conflicts with farmers whose crops were always consumed and destroyed by the nomads cattle; otherwise, they follow a code of behaviour known as PULNAKU, which consists of the qualities of patience, self-control, discipline, prudence, modesty, respect for others (including foes), wisdom, forethought, personal responsibility, hospitality, courage and hard work. The livelihood of an average Fulani depended on his flock of cattle, goats, sheep and rams and would be heart-broken to lose any, through unnatural deaths which often occurred in their frequent clashes with farmers over right to grazing lands! In such scenarios when any of their cattle is killed for trespassing and destroying farmlands, their warring instincts burst forth in retaliation and wanton destruction of lives and properties on a bestial scale! Federal Government’s effort to bring the nomad Fulani caste to civil order should not be limited to Benue State, it must be all-encompassing! Approved grazing lands and livestock ranches are of utmost priority at this precarious period of our national history of government-inflicted insecurity! It is high time we dwelt in unity and economic harmony with our Fulani brethren, who must be recognized for their livestock contribution to the Gross Domestic and National Product (GDP/GNP). PATRIACH ABRAHAM of the Old Testament Bible times, and his descendants were nomadic and they dwelt peaceably with all other tribes throughout their generations. Abraham made an epic journey from the city of UR, in BABYLONIA, across the Fertile Crescent to Haran, and then on to the land of CANAAN, criss-crossing Babylon, Mari in Mesopotamia, Haran, and Aleppo, in Assyria, Hamath, Shechem and Hebron in Canaan and Zoan in lower Egypt, with a large entourage of family members, including a multitude of livestock and no incident of clashes with the agrarian communities along their route was recorded! .[Genesis.11:31-13:18]. Abraham enjoyed a new nomadic life in the hills and plains of the promised land of Canaan, finally settling near Hebron, while his grandson, JACOB, ended his days in Egypt with his favourite son, JOSEPH.[Gen.27-46]. The Patriach’s descendants, the HEBREWS, remained in Egypt for 400 years and became enslaved when a Pharaoh, who ‘knew not’ Joseph’s antecedent as a former Prime Minister of Egypt, ascended the throne. There was however, a divine intervention which eventually led them out of Egypt to continue their pastoralist life as they journeyed for forty years through the wilderness back to CANAAN, the PROMISED LAND, with Prophets MOSES/AARON and JOSHUA, as their leaders, according to the purposive plan of JEHOVAH! [Read the Books of Exodus and Numbers.] In this age of advanced technology which is applicable to all sectors of the economy, it will be full-hardy for any serious government to despise all meaningful steps to avoid issues of insecurity emanating from simple domestic activities of farming and livestock herding. In North America and other parts of the arable lands of the world, the kind of clashes being experienced in Nigeria is unheard of! It is high time the present administration copied their modern template and eradicate this perennial loss of precious lives and properties which has dragged the nation back into the STONE AGE! The Fulani is not, by any inclination, prone to violence as a people because they are nomadic and need more friends than enemies, especially among their own Nigerian brethren! SINCE THE BUCK RESTS SQUARELY ON THE TABLE OF MR. PRESIDENT, it becomes imperative for this government to solve this unsolicited menace without further delay! We need an urgent policy of LIVE AND LET LIVE! We reject, bind and cast, every spirit positioned against the constant supply of ‘NAMA’, GOAT MEAT, BEEF, GARI, YAM, FUFU, APU, FURA DA NONO, MAIN SHANU, VEGETABLES, ORANGES, MANGOES, PAW-PAWS, POTATOES, AND CROPS-YIELDING TREES, through the combined efforts of Fulani pastoralists and all devoted and diligent farmers to our dinning tables, in JESUS CHRIST’S name. Amen. We cannot afford to lack in government’s supply PETROL AND KEROSINE and at the same time lack good food on our tables….GOD FORBID!
