THE ABELS OF OUR TIME.

After Adam and Eve were expelled from the luscious and mineral-rich Garden of Eden as punishment for their flagrant disobedience to the sovereign law of God, they gave birth to Cain and Abel.
Cain was a farmer and Abel, a keeper of sheep. The biblical account in Genesis 4: 1-10 reveals that in the process of sacrifice, Abel’s offering of the, ‘firstlings of his flock and the fat thereof’, was accepted by God while Cain’s fruit of the ground was rejected because of its origin. [cp. Heb. 9:22; 11:4].
Cain got very angry, rejected God’s verdict and counsel, murdered his sibling and became the first homicide convict on earth! When queried, the unrepentant villain denied knowledge of Abel’s whereabouts, and retorted, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The blood of Abel, an innocent victim of an evil sibling is still crying from the ground to the LORD for vengeance and so is the blood of several innocent Abels of our time; “ For the life of the flesh is in the blood…..” [ Leviticus. 17:11a ].
Homicide had since that generation became the order of the day across the entire universe with modern weapons of warfare belching and spitting death upon innocent citizens. One cannot easily forget the pogrom against the Jewish and Japanese nations during the First and Second World Wars when chemical weapons and the hydrogen bombs were engaged by the so-called world powers. Though, there had not been another world war since 1945, this present generation till date has witnessed heavy currents of rivers of human blood flowing all over the earth through the heinous activities of man’s bestiality against man. Today, the human flesh and blood have become the lucrative merchandise of the occult and no country or community in the universe is immune from this dastard and ungodly attitude! As Cain was divinely punished, so will everyone who has shed innocent blood be judged by our sovereign God.

Because the rulers of Jerusalem, the holy capital city of the nation of Palestine, continuously indulged in the shedding of righteous and innocent blood of servants of God, the Lord Jesus Christ prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem before He also, was crucified in the same city, over two thousand years ago.  [Matthew. 23:37-38].

Earlier in verses 35 and 36, the Lord also said, “……upon you may come all the righteous blood, shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zach-a-ri’as son of Bar-a-chi’as, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.”
I pray for a divine intervention against the shedding of innocent blood in Nigeria and across the world in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

In A D. 70, the Romans besieged and utterly destroyed Jerusalem, thus fulfilling the Lord’s prophecy. Judgement will continue to fall upon succeeding generations as long as disobedience to God’s holy laws subsists.
PRAYER.: The sixth commandment says, “Thou shalt not kill.;”  and because I believe in the sanctity of the human life, I pray that the Spirit of the love of our neighbours as ourselves will overwhelm every soul so that homicide and assassinations will become alien to world societies in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
