IGBO'S DESERVE A BETTER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE THAN PETER GREGORY OBI!
The Nigeria Labor Party Presidential Candidate at the 2023 election, Peter Obi, should not be considered as a serious representative of the Igbo Race considering his political antecedents and his current disposition of jumping ship in desperation!
First, he despised his small beginnings with APGA which gave him political relevance as two-term governor of Anambra State, punctuated by an impeachment between March 2006 and March 2014 but defected to the corrupt, ruling PDP mega party at the Federal level shortly before the 2015 General Elections!
Second, not satisfied as a second fiddle to Atiku Abubakar throughout Late Muhammad Buhari’s eight-year tenure – 2015-2023, he again jumped ship to the Labor Party which successfully gave the ruling APC a run for their money by coming third in a manipulated election to Bola Tinubu who garnered only 36.6% to become Nigeria's 16th President!
Third, in another desperate bid, Peter Obi has now joined the collapsed associations of vampires and predators labeled African Democratic Party (ADC), and has promised to spend one tenure of FOUR YEARS if flagged as presidential candidate!
Fourth, though he shows concern about Nigeria’s economic downturn, yet most of his business activities are tied to foreign investments and his accounts secured in OFF-SHORE Islands!
The IGBO’S have always foisted the impression that the Igbos were yet to occupy the number one seat and whereas both Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Major General Aguiyi Ironsi were both Nigerian President and Military Head of State respectively between 1960-1966!
While would Peter Obi in his widest imagination think that the incumbent will hand over power to an opposition candidate without a fight!
Was his decision of one-term presidency a collective Ndigbo strategy?
What stops Peter Obi from waiting until the year 2039, when the North-South rotation would favor him better?

His political colleagues of strange bed fellows have called him out to go before A SHRINE AND SWEAR TO KEEP THE PLEDGE – a suggestion which he vehemently rejected!
GOING DOWN THE MEMORY LANE – EVENTS OF NIGERIA'S FIRST MILITARY COUP ORGANIZED MAINLY BY SOLDIERS OF IGBO EXTRACTION, THE REPRISAL COUP, THE 30-MONTH-CIVIL WAR AND THE PERSISTENT DEMAND FOR SECESSION BY NNAMDI KANU, ARE STILL VERY FRESH IN THE MINDS OF NIGERIANS!
The July 15, 1966 reprisal killings, also known as the “July Counter-Coup,” were a series of retaliatory attacks by Northern Nigerian soldiers against Igbo soldiers and civilians.
These events were a direct response to the January 15, 1966 coup, which was perceived by some as an Igbo-led attempt to dominate the country. The counter-coup resulted in the deaths of many Igbo officers and civilians, further escalating ethnic tensions and ultimately contributing to the Nigerian Civil War.
That first coup targeted prominent Northern politicians and military figures, including the Prime Minister and the Premier of the Northern Region.
The July counter-coup was organized by Northern officers, notably Lt. Colonel Murtala Muhammed, in response to the perceived Igbo aggression and the perceived failure of the January coup to achieve its objectives.
The counter-coup involved widespread killings of Igbo soldiers and civilians in the North while the killings deepened ethnic divisions and mistrust between the North and the East.
Many Igbos fled to the Eastern Region, fearing for their safety, and ultimately leading to the declaration of the Republic of Biafra, and the subsequent 30-month long Nigerian Civil War.
GENERAL AGUIYI IRONSI, NIGERIA’S FIRST MILITARY HEAD OF STATE WAS KILLED IN THE REPRISAL ATTACK!
In January 1967, Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi was giving a befitting State burial in his hometown of Umuahia-Ibeku, Eastern Nigeria with full military honors following his death in the July 29, 1966, coup. The ceremony took place in his hometown, Ibeku-Umuahia, in present-day Abia state.
And on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of his demise this year, Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti used the occasion of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the Aguiyi-Ironsi Cenotaph, Ogurube layout, Umuahia, to honour the memories and sacrifices of those brave servicemen who died in active duty in different parts of the State in the last one year.
NNAMDI KANU PERSISTENT DEMAND FOR A BIAFRA STATE – IN SPITE OF - “NO VICTOR, NO VANQUISHED” DECLARATION IS ANOTHER ALBATROSS TO PETER OBI’S INORDINATE AMBITION!
Though Nnamdi Kanu is incarcerated and has been on trial for Treason since October 2021, he had made life unbearable for the very citizens he claims to be agitating for “their liberation from Nigeria”- through escalated insecurity situation in the Five Eastern States! There is a blanket weekly BAN on Mondays and Tuesdays trading in all markets with death penalties on defaulters!
Merciless murders of kidnapped victims in spite of paid ransoms has become a norm!
THE NUMBER THREE OBSTACLE IS THE DECEIT BY PDP CHIEFTAIN JERRY GANA OF OBI’S VICTORY UNDER HIS PARTY’S BANNER!
A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Jerry Gana, has claimed that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi would defeat any contender in Nigeria’s northern states if he contested on the PDP platform.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Gana said, “I’m a researcher, and I research opinions. In the northern states, Peter Obi under the PDP will defeat any candidate, because our people are very fair‑minded.”
Peter Obi quit the PDP in May 2022 to lead the Labor Party during the 2023 elections.
Reflecting on the PDP’s roots, the Prof. Gana reminded Nigerians of the party’s grassroots strength and its pivotal role in restoring democratic governance.
“Many people have forgotten that the PDP won most of the local governments. When it came to the presidential elections, we won the presidency, we won the Senate, and we won the House. We were totally in control, and that is why we were very delighted that we restored democracy to Nigeria and re‑established civil rule.”
But Prof. Gana totally forgot that Peter Obi’s Labor Party came THIRD with 6,101,633 votes mostly in the SOUTH at the 2023 Presidential Election and garnered few votes from the NORTH!
Gana, who served in key positions during Nigeria’s transition to democracy, including Minister of Information and Cooperation from 1999–2003 under President Obasanjo, also hinted that; “In 2031, it will be the turn of the North. Our people are very fair, and we are building a nation.
Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, won the contest, having scored 8,794,726 votes ahead of Obi; and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who came second, scored 6,984,520 votes.
PETER OBI IS NOT AS PATRIOTIC AS HE IS POSING – HE HAS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS STATCHED AWAY IN OFF SHORE ACCOUNTS BECAUSE HE DOES NOT BELIEVE IN NIGERIA LIKE HIS COMPATRIOTS – BOLA TINUBU AND ATIKU ABUBAKAR!
Nigerians are fed up with political charlatans who have kept the Citizens in bondage since independence.
Like 64-year-old Peter Obi, Nigeria is older than most of them who should with historical advantage at the least OPT FOR THE REGIONAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM TRUNCATED THROUGH THE BARRELS OF THE GUNS AND IN GRADUAL PROCESS DEMAND FOR A FULL-BLOWN ONE-HOUSE (UNICAMERAL) ARRANGEMENT THAT WILL ACCOMMODATE EVERYBODY AND USHER PERMANENT TRANQUILITY TO ALL AND SUNDRY!
Peter Obi could still back-pedal and the PATRIOTS to demand for GOOD GOVERNANCE!
