WHO TRULY LOVES IGBOS: OJUKWU, KANU OR SIMON EKPA?
If late Lieutenant-Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu of the Nigerian Army had succeeded in his secession bid of 30th May 1967, he would have been appointed as Biafra’s First President!
Unfortunately the declaration of war against the sovereign state of Nigeria demoted him to a mere Rebel Leader who in the heat of battle abandoned his men to seek asylum in Ivory Coast (now Cote d’Ivoire).
The ABANDONED were the same population of all male adults and limited soldiers of the then Eastern Nigeria whom he told in his Broadcast to be valiant and reject any “further marginalization in the scheme of Nigerian Governance”!
The Nigerian Civil War (Biafran War) (1967-1970), which is often described as an “internecine war” was a devastating internal conflict where Nigerian Federal Troops fought against their erstwhile compatriots in the Eastern Region!
In spite of defeat, exile, eventual State pardon and return to Nigeria, Ojukwu’s Presidential ambition did not waver!
Ojukwu, who served as the Military Governor of the then Eastern Region of Nigeria in 1966, championed the breakaway Republic of Biafra which Civil War from 1967 to 1970 wasted over 2 million innocent lives of civilians and soldiers.
Following his pardon, re-instatement into the Nigerian Army and payment of all entitlements on return from SELF-EXILE in 1982, Ojukwu renewed his PRESIDENTIAL AMBITION and contested twice under the umbrella of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), in 2003 and 2007, but failed.
Before his demise in 2011, at 78 years, Ojukwu was very emphatic that ANY FUTURE AGITATION FOR SECESSION WAS UNNECESSARY!
At independence, Nigeria had a ceremonial Igbo President in the person of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and a Northern Prime Minister, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa as obtains in a Parliamentary System of a regional setting.
The unpalatable Military Coups of 1966 and the eventual SECESSION DEMAND that later snowballed into a 30-month-long civil war was no doubt informed by military power play which turned the table in favor of the North when General Aguiyi Ironsi was replaced in a reprisal bloody coup and General Yakubu Gowon became Head of State.
Lt. Colonel Ojukwu did not have IGBO MANDATE to secede - only a very selfish presidential ambition!
NNAMDI KANU.
Nnamdi Kanu who shares same first name with late President Nnamdi Azikiwe is a British-Nigerian political activist and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group advocating for the independence of Biafra.
Born in 1967 in Isiama Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Nigeria, he is the son of traditional monarchs and attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka before moving to the UK for his higher education. He is a prominent figure in the pro-Biafra movement, having previously worked with MASSOB and co-founded IPOB, but has faced numerous arrests, charges, and legal battles with the Nigerian government.
Zion B-BC Newsletter in some past Editions had advised Nnamdi Kanu to abandon continuous agitation for further TERRORIST FORM OF SECESSION THAT HAVE SUBJECTED THE IGBOS TO POVERTY AND DEATH FOR DISOBEDIENCE TO HIS DRACONIAN ORDERS – but to no avail!
From July 2016 to date, WE severally solicited Kanu to “Rethink and Repent” from his brutal escapade against his kith and kin whom he “INTENDED TO LIBERATE!”
Up to the time of this publication, brutal killings of innocent IGBO TRADERS, Law enforcement agents especially Police Officers/Soldiers, wanton destruction of government strategic infrastructures, and decapitation of anyone who violated KANU’S MONDAYS/TUESDAYS SIT-AT-HOME ORDERS SUBSISTS!
South Eastern Region is notorious for the existence of not less than 30 rival groups to IPOB but Kanu boasts of SUPREMACY!
NNAMDI KANU MUST BE SUBJECT TO THE LAW OF NIGERIA IN SPITE OF HIS ACCLAIMED INVINCIBILITY!

A court in Nigeria has found separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu guilty of terrorism and other charges following a decade-long legal case full of drama.
He has been given four life sentences, along with other terms, to be served concurrently. The prosecution had called for the death penalty but Judge James Omotosho said that executions were now “frowned upon”.
In his ruling he said he was satisfied that Kanu had made a series of broadcasts to incite violence and killings, as part of his campaign for a separate state in South-East Nigeria, known as Biafra.
Kanu was convicted on all seven charges he faced. As well as terrorism, they included treason and involvement with an outlawed movement.
Once a relatively obscure figure, he came to national prominence in 2009 when he started Radio Biafra, a station that called for an independent state for the Igbo people, broadcast to Nigeria from London.
Though he grew up in south-eastern Nigeria, where he attended the University of Nsukka, Kanu moved to the UK before graduating, and acquired British nationality.
In 2014, he set up the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), a movement demanding independence.
IPOB was banned as a terrorist organization in 2017. Its armed wing – the Eastern Security Network – has been accused of killings and other acts of violence in recent years.
Delivering his judgement, Justice Omotosho said: “Mr Kanu knew what he was doing, he was bent on carrying out these threats without consideration to his own people.
“From the uncontroverted evidence, it is clear that the defendant carried out preparatory act of terrorism.
KANU PREVIOUSLY JUMPED BAIL!
He was first arrested in October 2015 but he jumped bail in 2017 and left the country after a military raid on his home. The court later revoked his bail in March 2019.
Two years later, the government announced that he had been re-arrested. His lawyers say he was detained in Kenya and forcibly returned to Nigeria. Kenya has not commented.
In 2022, an appeal court ordered that the charges against him be dropped, saying he had been illegally arrested abroad, but this ruling was overturned by the Supreme Court the following year because he was NOT ACQUITTED by the Court of Appeal!
SAMUEL EKPA DECLARED HIMSELF “BIAFRA PRIME MINISTER” IN FINLAND AND GOT JAILED!
Simon Njoku Ekpa (born 21 March 1985) is a Finnish politician and Biafran political activist. In 2022, while in Finland, he declared the activation of the Biafra Government In Exile (BGIE), and in 2023 declared himself the leader (titled “Prime Minister”) of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE).
Ekpa was the Chairman of the Igbo Union Finland from 2015 until 2019. He has also served as the Chairman of the Playground Board, in the City Lahti, a position he held between 2017 until 2021.
Simon Ekpa, a prominent diaspora Biafran separatist leader, was sentenced to SIX YEARS IN PRISON by the Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland in September 2025. He was found guilty of several charges related to terrorism and other offenses committed between August 2021 and November 2024.
The charges for which Simon Ekpa was jailed include: Public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent.
The Court found that Ekpa used his significant social media following (especially on X, formerly Twitter) to stoke tensions and encourage followers to commit violent acts in the South-East region of Nigeria.
Ekpa was also found to be an influential member of a militant separatist movement whose goal was the secession of a Biafran state from Nigeria through illegal means.
In addition the court stated that Ekpa equipped armed groups in the region with weapons and ammunition through his network of contacts and also found him guilty of financial crime traced to aggravated tax fraud in his firm.
In respect of violations of Finland’s Lawyers Act, he was found to have offered legal services without proper authorization or a license to represent clients in court.
Ekpa, who holds dual Nigerian and Finnish citizenship, denied all allegations during the trial. The verdict is not yet final and may be appealed to a higher court in Finland.
PROMINENT IGBO LEADER SENATOR ORJI UZOR KALU SPEAKS FOR HIS TRAUMATIZED PEOPLE! – EXCERPTS FROM MEDIA REPORT.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called for calm and respect for judicial processes following the Federal High Court’s life sentence handed to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB.
He warned that the south-east is facing a severe humanitarian and economic crisis, urging political leaders and residents to focus on protecting civilians and stabilizing the region.
Speaking on Monday, November 24, 2025, Kalu highlighted the devastating impact of ongoing separatist tensions, noting that MORE THAN 30,000 PEOPLE HAVE DIED AND THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES REMAIN DISPLACED.
He stressed that businesses have collapsed, investors have pulled out, and many families are struggling to recover from repeated attacks and lockdowns.
On the issue of Kanu’s sentencing, the senator defended Justice James Omotosho, urging the public to respect the judiciary and refrain from personal attacks. “Nobody should question the decision of Justice Omotosho.
