Young Naval Officer Lt. Yerima on duty post stood his ground and forced a civilian bully in authority to backtrack with his tail between his legs!
The confrontation between FCT Minister and the military personnel in respect of legitimate owners of a parcel of land luckily did not dovetail into a fracas of contending gun-totting security personnel who accompanied Wike on a demolition exercise!
The beauty of democracy in a DIARCHY played out as Citizens in the Gaduwa Area booed Mr. Wike and his goons as they retreated with their caterpillars and bulldozers in shame and defeat!
When the 30-month-long Civil or Biafra War ended in January 1970, a slogan of “No Victor, no vanquished”, was adopted to pacify both sides so that Nigeria might move on as a United Nation!
WE strongly believe Mr. Wike and the Military should adopt the cliché and move on because it is very glaring that the Commander -in-Chief of the Armed Forces will not abandon his loyal personnel who refused to be associated with a COUP HOAX – the figment of the imagination of some enemies of the State!
BUT FOR AS LONG AS THIS DIARCHY WHICH EXISTED SINCE 1999 LASTED, BOTH SIDES SHOULD MAINTAIN STATUS QUO WITHOUT RAISING UNNECESSARY DUSTS!
In the meantime the Social Media came awash with stories of an ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON LT. A.M. YERIMA, the Young Diarch by unknown persons. (Please read Zion B-BC Newsletter Vol.14 No. 627 of 26th October 2025, on the “Succession Plan in Diarchy”)
According to Media Reports, the Navy Officer who recently had a confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reportedly escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday evening, 16th November 2025.
Military sources allegedly told the Media that Yerima was trailed by unidentified men dressed in black and riding in two unmarked Hilux vans with no number plates. The vehicles allegedly followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.
According to the source, the officer noticed the surveillance and executed a “strategic maneuver,” successfully evading the suspected assailants. The incident reportedly occurred around 6:30 p.m.
In view of insinuations that Police Officers were being fingered in the alleged assassination attempt, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command issued a statement that the Nigerian Navy officer, Lt A.M. Yerima, who drove a tinted and unnumbered vehicle was flagged down during a stop-and-search operation on Sunday, November 17, 2025. at NNPC Junction along the Kubwa Expressway, Abuja, for identification.
The Command’s Spokesperson Josephine Adeh, said, “The allegation was false and grossly misleading.”
According to her, “On 16th November 2025 at about 06:15 p.m., a police patrol team, while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at NNPC Junction along Kubwa Expressway, intercepted an ash-coloured Toyota Camry driven with a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows.”
In line with standard operational procedure, officers approached the vehicle and politely requested for the occupant’s identity, along with an explanation for the concealments.
“The occupant, however, refused to identify himself, proceeded to make several calls, and wound up his tinted windows, declining to engage with the police team.
“A few minutes later, three naval personnel arrived the location and cordially identified the occupant of the vehicle as their colleague.
“They were also observed taking video and picture footage of the encounter before leaving.
“Following this confirmation, the Police team allowed the vehicle to proceed.
“The patrol team then continued its operations peacefully and without any further incident. It is however surprising to wake up to maliciously crafted tales and worst of all allegations of assassination.”
On November 11, Wike was embroiled in a shouting match with soldiers who had manned a disputed piece of land in the nation’s capital city.
Lt. Yerima led the team and was at the centre of the ensuing scuffle.

The spokesman for the Coalition of Retired Veterans, Abiodun Durowaiye-Herberts, warned that ex-service members would “occupy the office and residence of the FCT Minister” if the Diarchy Yerima faced any punishment.
He stressed that military personnel owe allegiance to Nigeria—not individual public officials—and insisted that Wike must apologize for his remarks.
“How can a public office holder call an officer ‘a fool’ on camera?” he queried, adding that such conduct undermines national institutions and demeans the dignity of public office.
