NIGERIAN YOUTHS SHOULD DETHRONE POLITICAL DECAMPEES AND THEIR SUPPORTERS IN 2019!

Let us presume that every pre-election year in Nigeria must witness the unconstitutional defection, cross-carpeting and shopping for "sure banker" tickets by politicians; must the 2018 edition assume such a heightened, frightening, and unprecedented proportion, in view of the fact that bereaved citizens are still mourning the untimely deaths of their innocent/beloved ones hacked down by suspected killer-herdsmen/Boko Haram terrorists and who cannot REST IN PEACE in the ongoing commotion for ephemeral political gains?

The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Chapter V, Section 68 (1) (g) (as amended), is unambiguous in respect of circumstances that could lead to defection by political appointees from one party to another, but since the fresh attempt at democracy, 19 years on, those legal requirements had been side-lined and no one bothered to further contest the flagrant disobedience in the courts because they were all flouting the extant law with impunity!

Conservative statistics of death tolls in the Middle Belt States of Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Taraba, including Zamfara in the North West, between January and July, 2018, was put at about 1,800 people, consisting of men women and children, excluding security personnel, but after all hue, cry and lamentations, obsessed politicians forgot the pains/agonies of the citizens in their various constituencies/districts, passed the "buck" to the President and the ruling party and moved on to look for greener pastures by laundering illicit monies to attract to themselves, SUPPORTERS OF LIKE-MINDS, WHOSE ONLY GOAL IN LIFE IS THE CONTINUOUS ACQUISITION OF BLOOD MONEY!

Personal/positive ambition is not a crime in Nigeria's extant laws but INORDINATE AMBITION which borders on egotism, self-aggrandizement, nepotism, tribalism, pre-meditated institutional corruption, that could attract confusion, anarchy, homicide, civil disobedience, insurgency, terrorism etc, MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO FESTER IN EVERY SANE DEMOCRACY! It is therefore very imperative for politicians to shun attitudes that could lead to despotism, propagation and perpetration of individuals in positions of authority for too long to the detriment of other interested parties!

There are several politicians who served in the Legislative Arm for SIXTEEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS, (1999-2015), and are still serving in the present Change administration as if they were the proverbial "one-eyed person in a community of blind people"!
For decorum and moral consideration, such persons should have given opportunity to others after two tenures at least, since they did not possibly possess the monopoly of knowledge and wisdom; but this is the political scenario that is playing out in Nigeria presently!

Even those soldiers and bloody civilians who served the Army juntas of about 30 years, are still very vibrant, active and earning fat salaries as politicians - legislators/ministers/ board chairmen, etc. Local and international political pundits were not surprised when on Tuesday, 24th July, 2018, 'Bukola Saraki announced at plenary that FOURTEEN "APC" SENATORS had defected to the opposition PDP while his counterpart, Yakubu Dogara also disclosed that THRITY-TWO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEMBERS, also defected to the PDP and other minority parties WHILE THE INCUMBENT APC BENUE STATE GOVERNOR, ON THE FOLLOWING DAY ALSO DECAMPED TO PDP!

The signs of internal wrangling had been manifest within the rank and file of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from inauguration and what has played out was the black/yellow bile from the gall bladders of the INORDINATE AMBITIOUS, VERY GREEDY AND SELFISH POLITICIANS WHO MUST BE PROMINENT ACTORS IN EVERY GOVERNMENT IN POWER! They are not interested in nation-building but only in NAIRA GAINS!

Although, Senate President, ABUBAKAR SARAKI and his counterpart, House of Representatives Speaker, YAKUBU DOGARA, were still sitting on the fence (with one leg in the PDP and the other in APC), as at the time of this publication, their spies and foot soldiers have crossed the RUBICON, to signify that there could be no turning back for both of them!
As for Governor AMINU WAZIRI TAMBUWAL of Sokoto State, it seemed that patriotism coupled with wisdom has prevailed over him to (maybe), sheath his sword!

We know that all decampees from APC have returned to EGYPT (PDP), where they would offer themselves FOR SALE, but nobody would purchase them! As a youth, incumbent Benue State Governor, SAMUEL IORAER ORTOM, (now 57-years-old), was very ambitious for good reasons! He had hardly completed his studies than he got embroiled in partisan politics of his State through engagement in grassroot party administration which paved the way for political appointment as Minister of State Trade and Investments during ex-President Ebele Jonathan's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Administration but became All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor of Benue State in 2015, when PDP denied him its ticket during the primaries of 2014!

Samuel Ortom's grouse was predicated over the presumed neglect of Benue people to their predicament by the APC's Federal Government as killer herdsmen ravaged their farmlands and destroyed the lives and properties of innocent citizens from 1st January, 2018, unabated!
It was common knowledge that armed invasion by killer herdsmen was not isolated to Benue State, yet Governor Ortom took it personal and bit the APC' s fingers that have fed him since 2015 - when he terribly needed a comforter and shoulder to cry on; AND BECAUSE HE MUST FULFIL TWO TERMS AS GOVERNOR AT ALL COSTS, HE HAS RETURNED TO HIS VOMIT BY QUOTING A SCRIPTURE WHICH PREACHES, REPENTANCE BY PDP AND FORGIVENESS BY HIM, BUT HE SHOULD RETURN HIS SECURITY VOTE TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

However, the most interesting part of the unfolding DRAMA was by the Benue (PDP?) Youths who in their numbers, "barricaded" the State Government's gates to "prevent" Governor Ortom from proceeding to Abuja, to mend fences with APC hierarchy and douse the political tension of several months!
Whether the youths belonged to either of the camps is very irrelevant because they have no doubt betrayed their patriotic counterparts in other parts of Nigeria with that STAGE-MANAGED ACT!
BENUE YOUTHS should remember that PDP does not believe in the "NOT-TOO-YOUNG-TO-RUN  DOCTRINE - the youth leader during the 2011-2015 administration was "only 60 years old" and by the time Governor Ortom, "completed FOUR years as PDP GOVERNOR" (?), he would be 62 years, while the youths would remain on the waiting list forever!

NIGERIAN YOUTHS AS POSITIVE THINKERS!
We have launched a national/global video campaign with the strong advocacy that Nigerian Youths should cultivate the culture of BUILDING A NEW AND EGALITARIAN NIGERIA, WHERE POSITIVE THINKING, IDEAS, AND ATTITUDE BY CITIZENS WILL TAKE PRE-EMINENCE AND PROVIDE THE REQUIRED PLATFORM FOR A BRAND NEW UNITED STATES OF NIGERIA (USN), WHERE POLITICAL POWER WILL SEAMLESSLY TRANSFER FROM ONE GENERATION TO ANOTHER WITHOUT ACRIMONY, BITTERNESS OR BLOOD-LETTING!
In this campaign, Nigerian Youths will be afforded opportunities to display their sterling qualities of ebullience, resilience, tenacity of purpose, energy and determination to excel and thrive in positive adventures that would compliment government policies in prosecuting the social contract in education, industry, manufacturing, agriculture, drama/culture/entertainment, film acting/production/tourism, oil/gas, natural mineral mining etc,!

BENUE YOUTHS did not have to support a decampee governor who has really not touched their lives positively in any way! Students of the Benue State University, in May, 2018 barricaded their gates in protest against increment in school fees with over 60% when their parents were not paid salaries for between 7-12 months and the other day, some youths protested on the streets of Makurdi, the State Capital and pelted his convoy!
Were they the same youths who challenged Mr. Ortom that he should rather CRUSH them with the tax-payers vehicles in his convoy than go to ABUJA for a reconciliation meeting with the APC Government?

It is not too late for them to have a re-think about their uncertain future which they are mortgaging for peanuts being doled out to them from their common wealth as compensation for solidarity! What stops anyone of them from taking over from Governor Ortom in 2019, OR IS IT COMPULSORY THAT HE SHOULD SERVE A SECOND TERM? OR ARE THERE NO 35-YEAR-OLD YOUTHS WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO TAKE OVER THE BENUE'S GEBERNATORIAL SEAT IN 2019?

We counselled EKITI STATE YOUTHS to resist the lure into thuggery by out-going Governor Ayodele Fayose, during the 14th July, 2018, Governorship Election and because they hearkened, peace, serenity and tranquillity reigned supreme and there was no death recorded through the duration and thereafter!
