IS MAJOR GENERAL BUHARI AT THE MERCY OF BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS?

The spirits of Nigeria’s founding fathers, if it were possible, should be very angry with the current national and states leadership which have become clueless and in total disarray over solutions to persistent, dastard and gruesome security breach by terrorists/bandits/hardened criminals across the nooks and crannies of the nation because they swapped the inexpensive parliamentary system of government for the dollar-consuming presidential option which has brought the giant of Africa to its knees as the most INSECURE  NATION of the world!

The expensive lifestyles of politicians who took over from 1999 to end about 30 years of military aberration had been a horrible embarrassment not only to the psyche of the massive poverty-stricken but to the comity of nations from which Nigeria had gone “cap-in-hand” to borrow TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS only to squander for personal aggrandizement instead of socio-economic developments.

Presently, over 60% of the small arms/weapons being proliferated across the West African sub-region are in the hands of terrorists/insurgents and angry youths/unemployed able-bodied who are now ready to PERISH if need be in their determination to violently bring down the BUHARI ADMINISTRATION at all cost!

THAT ROCKET LAUNCHERS ARE DOMINATING MOST TERRORISTS STRIKES NOW IN THE DESTRUCTION OF STRATEGIC GOVERNMENT INSTALLATIONS MUST WORRY MR. PRESIDENT!

In addition to terrorism, banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and human trafficking, terrorists now brazenly attack, kill SECURITY OPERATIVES and also employ rocket launchers to bomb strategic government buildings and installation instead of previous attacks through suicide bombings and this innovation should worry President Buhari as a retired military general!

IS THIS NOT A SUBTLE WAY OF INFORMING CORRUPT AND INEPT GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATORS THAT THEY ARE ALSO UNSAFE!

The other day those bandits who were operating from the South East Geo Political Zone attempted to break into IMO GOVERNMENT HOUSE, but have successfully sacked almost all POLICE/PRISON [correctional facilities], INSTALLATIONS in that region  day after day for over two weeks and all that  the yet-to-be-retired Minister of Defense had to offer, a lamentation that, “NIGERIA  IS BLEEDING”!

QUESTION: With all these highly-sophisticated fresh attacks – should it take forever for President Buhari’s Special Advisers to ask him to OCCUPY HIS RIGHTFUL POSITION AS THE BONA FIDE MINISTER OF DEFENSE AND MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BEFORE TERRORISTS BEGAN TO TAKE OVER GOVERNMENT LODGES? 

NIGERIA’S INTERNATIONAL NEGATIVE RATINGS/RANKINGS!
In education, Nigeria ranks 124th in the world and 25th in Africa behind Rwanda, while Ghana occupies 104th in global education system and 12th in Africa ahead of Zimbabwe.

Presently, over 10million children of school age in the Northern geo-political zones are roaming the streets while about 600 schools had shut down their boarding facilities due to incessant attacks by Boko Haram terrorists who have declared war on Western education since 2009!

Only about 06% of UNESCO’s recommended 25% annual national budget is allocated to Education in Nigeria. Hundreds of these innocent children have been recruited/abducted by terrorists and are being used as human shields in the various forests and hideouts of those criminals.

ON HEALTH: Nigeria cannot boast of specialist hospitals that can treat rich politicians and the President who returned on 15th April, 2021 on his 12th overseas medical treatment in his SIX years of administration!
Nigerian hospitals have been severally described as “mere consulting clinics”! 

ECONOMY: Persistent economic problems including rising inflation rate, as well as fall in the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), caused by dollars scarcity as well as depressed in crude oil prices are likely to stifle growth in Nigeria which is regarded as Africa’s biggest economy but grappling with deficit employment opportunities for the employable and able-bodied!

ELECTRICITY POWER/THERMAL/HYDRO-SOLAR ENERGY ETC. Nigeria has 12,500 Megawatts (MW), of installed generation capacity, being largely dependent on hydro power and fossil (gas) thermal power sources; 12.5% and 87.5% respectively. But currently, only 3,500MW to 5,000MW is typically available for onward transmission to the final consumer.
Investors/industrialists/manufacturers have, since independence in 1960 depended on petrol/diesel driven generators to stay in business while consumers of their goods and services pay exorbitant prices to acquire their products and foreign importation is encourage by federal government which officials were major players!

POVERTY RATIO! Nigeria relishes to be addressed as the POVERTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!

QUESTION: What is Nigeria’s Internally Generated Revenue [IGR], outside of CRUDE OIL? NIL!
What about DIVERSIFICATION TO AGRICULTURE/MANUFACTURING/TOURISM ENTERTAINMENT etc? IT WILL TAKE FOREVER JUST LIKE RESTRUCTURING/DEVOLUTION OF POWER FROM THE FEDERAL TO STATE GOVERNMENTS, SHUTTING DOWN THE SENATE, REDUCING 360 MEMBERS OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO 74, AND PRODUCING A NEW CONSTITUTION HAS REMAINED IN THE ABEYANCE!

IS NIGERIA SAFE?

It has been over one whole year [Tuesday 20th April, 2020, to date], when the United States, warned its citizens to avoid “non essential travel to Nigeria due to unpredictable security situation throughout the country in view of the high level of crimes which include armed robbery, kidnapping for ransom, home invasions, carjacking and violent assault which has spread to urban areas including northern borders with Niger and Chad!

Over one year ago from 13th March, 2020, Government of CANADA also lent its weight to the travel ban warning and advised its citizens in particular, to avoid:
The north western states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara;
The north central State of Plateau;
The north eastern State of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa and Yobe;
The Niger Delta States of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Balyesa Delta, Imo, and Rivers. Also included in the safety and security precaution are the cities of Abuja, Calabar and Lagos where high degree of caution should be exercised!

The US State Department emphasized that terrorists continued to plot and carry out attacks especially in the North east with local gangs to expand their reach and in Southern Nigeria – especially in the Niger Delta region – they organize low-level armed militancy/criminality, including kidnapping and maritime crimes which are common in that region!

DIVERSITY SHOULD BE AN ASSET NOT LIABILITY TO EVERY NATION!

Because people are diverse by nature it is very important for leadership to appreciate the uniqueness and outstanding qualities of individuals in order to harness their innate abilities through ethnic antecedents,  racial ideologies, socio- economic abilities, religious /political beliefs etc, for the overall benefits of bonding in a setting of  equal partnership and respect for constitutional rights of one another!

Every country is composed of variety of races, cultures, differing ideologies which should promote the needed unity to develop and evolve stable democracies as obtains in other clime like the UK, America, France, Brazil, New Zealand, Austria, Finland, Russia, etc, which have enjoyed stable democracies for decades without spoiling for segregation, secession, restructuring, break-up, dismemberment etc, as being clamored for-year-on-year in Nigeria in spite of the fact that the self-inflicted BIAFRA WAR of 1967-1970 ended with the declaration: “No Victor, No Vanquished!

CHIEF OBAFEMI AWOLOWO: “Nigeria is not a nation. It is a mere geographical expression. There are no ‘Nigerians’ in the same sense as there are ‘English’, ‘Welsh’, or ‘French’. The word ‘Nigerian’ is merely a distinctive appellation to distinguish those who live within the boundaries of Nigeria and those who do not”
The late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo,  lawyer, politician, journalist, statesman with revolutionary ideas, a totally detribalized Nigerian of blessed memory; the author of the above quotation, who played iconic role in the successful negotiations and struggle for Nigeria’s Independence could also be regarded as a Seer because a righteous nation would never predate its citizens!
Perusing through his many quotes/prophesies, majority of which have and are still manifesting negatively in the nation’s socio-political-economic - religious life through divisive tendencies between strange “bed fellows” of the conglomerate according to the above quotation among many others, it was very clear that the selfless and exemplary leader [1909-1987], had a glimpse of future calamites that would befall the CONTRAPTION!

Preceding narratives portray that Nigeria failed woefully to harness its DIVERSITY TO ADVANTAGE  like the United States  and others earlier mentioned, BUT it is not too late, provided President Buhari would take up the gauntlet, introduce a RIGHTEOUS  TEAM INTO GOVERNMENT, turn around the economy to favor the TALAKAWAS [poorest and suffering masses], across the entire country who are into the Small Medium Scale Enterprises[SMSE], to be further financially encouraged to produce more goods as they represent the backbone of any successful economy!

THE BUCK STOPS AT THE PRESIDENT’S TABLE AND AS SUCH HAS NO EXCUSE TO BLAME HIS SUBORDINATES FOR ALL GLARING INFRACTIONS – ESPECIALLY IN RESPECT OF CORRUPTION AND INSECURITY!
