WHY BUHARI SHOULD TAKE OVER DEFENCE MINISTRY!

If President Muhammadu Buhari left office in 2023 without resolving the intransigent and vexing challenge of multiple/ubiquitous insecurity of lives and property of the majority of Nigerians, his name would go down into history records as the worst president Nigeria ever voted to lead them and his administration the most damnable to have fooled the downtrodden Nigerians – most especially the talakawas!

The Nigerian Electorate was deceived by the desperation of the incumbent between 2003- 2015 to empathise and voted massively for a supposed MESSIAH whom all the 200 million Nigerians believed would lead them to the promised land flowing with milk and honey and with the privileged hind-sight that he once distinguished himself as a military head of state between 1984-1985!

There can be no other opportune time than NOW as he returns physically from London to the Aso Rock Office to reshuffle his cabinet and take over the Ministry of Defence to NAIL THE COFFIN OF INSECURITY PERMANENTLY! And as a retired TWO STAR GENERAL whose only pre-occupation from age twenty when he enlisted in 1961 to 1985 when he was booted out of office in a coup-de-tat, there could be no better candidate for the strategic DEFENCE office than himself!

IN OUR LAST 399TH EDITION OF 4TH APRIL, 2021, WE PRESENTED THE POSERS BELOW FOR THE QUICK APPRAISAL, ATTENTION AND IMPLEMENTATION TO OUR VETERAN MILITARY GENERAL:
“WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN BUHARI RETURNS FROM THE RETREAT! He will redeem his image and fast-track resolutions on all outstanding complaints from the Office of the Citizens which include but not limited to:   
Ensuring that all government appointees and political office holders declare their assets which must be quickly verified by the EFCC;
Re-shuffle his cabinet by taking over the Ministry of Defence as a retired General to ensure quicker defeat of Boko Haram terrorists for peace to reign and the economy to thrive.
Relinquish the post of Minister of Petroleum which should be handed over to Professor Itse Sagay, who would do a better job in that sector, sack Mr. Timipre Sylva and retired General Magashi Bashir for poor performances in office!
Call for a Referendum to scrap the current 9th SENATE which should wind up with his administration on 29th May 2023, if serving legislators would not co-operate! There are over 70 House of Representatives and 20 Senators, including all NIGERIAN YOUTHS who are in agreement that Nigeria should return to UNICAMERAL legislation! President Macky Sall of Senegal successfully achieved the feat to completely stop WASTAGES IN GOVERNANCE! In addition, the 360 House of Representatives members should also be reduced to 74 working with few civil service staff with modern technology on PART-TIME BASIS!
Begin the process of creating STATE POLICE for all existing 36 States to curb all incidences of crimes, criminalities of banditry, cattle rustling, armed robbery, insurgency etc.
Equip EFCC with a team of expert legal practitioners that would ensure victory in all court litigations of high-profile nature henceforth so that no “big man” criminal would go scot-free due to corruption-induced shoddy investigation and prosecution!
Expedite action on the advocacy for a Brand Constitution for Nigeria to be fashioned after the resolutions of the 2014 National Conference which gulped over N18billion naira from the nation’s coffers!

We strongly believe that president Buhari will dwell on all of the above popular demands while alone in his closet in London and return smoking with action that would pave way for a dignified retirement and write his name in gold! Mr. President, you can do it provided you work with your vice president, Prof. ‘Yemi Osinbajo [san]!”

WHILE WE WAIT FOR THE GENERAL’S RESUMPTION, INSURGENTS /BANDITS STRUCK DEVASTATINGLY IN IMO STATE, SOUTH EAST NIGERIA!

The early April attack and destruction of the Imo State Correctional Building /Facilities, including the Nigerian Police State HQ and a brazen effort to forcefully penetrate the official Government Lodge of the Governor, in South-East Nigeria, on Easter Monday and the consecutive Tuesday/Wednesday bombardments of some divisional police stations in Owerri, the State Capital, is clear indication that the nation’s security architecture was fast crumbling and needed very urgent/expert surgery!
Without exaggeration, the kind of terror being witnessed in that geo-political zone in which strategic government institutions and security personnel were targets of criminality is common to the other FIVE where terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, etc, are also the order of the day!

On Thursday 8th April, 2021, ELEVEN SOLDIERS were murdered in an unprovoked attack  by local militia in Konshisha LGA, Benue State, North Central Nigeria and the Military has responded in a reprisal that has caused abnormal collateral damages although official figures claimed that only EIGHT people who tried to shield the culprits died!    

IPOB, MASSOB and some SEPARATIST groups have been fingered for the atrocities in IMO AND BENUE STATES, but only few arrests have been made so far. Out of the 1,800 prison inmates who were forcibly released, less than 100 have returned to the Correctional Facility in spite of the bait of official “amnesty”!

ARE CITIZENS VIOLENT REACTIONS NOT SELF-INFLICTED BY FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS?
One abnormal character dubbed as INSTITUTIONAL IMPUNITY has been common to all civilian governments which took over since the end of the military interregnum in 1999, BUT it had been more pronounced in the Buhari Administration from 2015 to date!
Once President Buhari’s mind is made up on any sensitive national issue (having widely “consulted” with his kitchen cabinet), any contrary opinion was jettisoned, no matter how reasonable or popular!
INSENSITIVITY to Citizens’ feelings/wishes is no doubt responsible for the current insurrection which neither Federal nor State Governments that constitute the SIX Geo-Political Zones would ever be in any position to handle, since they neither possessed monopoly of stubbornness nor brutal force! ODI VILLAGE/ZAKI BIAM soldiers invasion and massacre of innocent citizens remain ever-fresh in memory of unfortunate Nigerians who experienced institutional brutal force of the military!
Through visible acts of maladministration, tribalism, nepotism, corruption, religious bigotry, etc which negate all principles of ethical norms by those who were entrusted by the Constitution to protect and ensure the welfare of this nation, many restive citizens have also become violent and insensitive to their fellow citizens! Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, rapists have become nightmares to their fellow brothers and sisters!
QUESTIONS:
How long did it take the Federal Government to disband SARS? Almost FIVE years until the YOUTHS took over the streets, in spite of hues and cries in respect of their brutality against the Citizens which paid their upkeep, salaries and allowances!
The clamour for the creation and establishment of State Police in order to stem the wave of insecurity had turned sour like playing a broken record in the ears of consecutive occupants of ASO VILLA because they MUST cling to TRANSIENT POWER forever even RULE NIGERIA from the GRAVE if possible!
When ex-President Aremu Obasanjo accused President Buhari of a hidden agenda of “Islamising and Fulanising” Nigeria, Our Editorial Board and several patriotic citizens condemned the allegation in the belief that the incumbent was a detribalised Nigerian whose world view superseded myopic local politics!BUT we have been proved wrong when critics pointed out lopsidedness in political appointments, which favoured northern zones the president’s  kits, kin and old friends without consideration for the Constitutional Federal Character principle!
ARE THE ROAMING COWS STILL NOT ON NIGERIAN HIGHWAYS, COMMUNITIES, NEIGHBOURHOOD AND PERPETRATING HAVOC EVERYWHERE WHEN FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS COULD EITHER RANCH OR RESTRICT THEM IN RURAL GRAZING AREA [RUGA]!?
History has it that the Hausa/Fulani Oligarchy which transcended/dominated the then Northern Region through deliberate promotion of the SUNNI ISLAMIC FAITH under the watch of late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, only survived for the few years because with the Creation Of 12 States by retired General Yakubu Gowon, because the two prominent tribes tried very hard to dominate other tribes who NEVER believed in a holistic NORTH!

THAT BRAZEN USD$ I.5MILLION CONTRACT WILL HAVE ITS REPERCUSSIONS!
From all economic calculations/mathematics, it was very wicked of this APC Administration to maliciously BORROW USD$1.5 million dollars [or N575 billion naira], to revamp a comatose/moribund Port Harcourt Refinery, in the Nigerian Oil Sector and the brazen signing of the said approved amount by the illegally-constituted Federal Executive Council (FEC), on 6th April 2021, is another act of INSENSITIVITY on the part of President Buhari, who has inundated TEN GENERATIONS OF UNBORN NIGERIANS WITH CONTINUOUS INDEBTED LIFE THROUGH DEBT SERVICING!
