DIPLOMATIC REWARD FOR 2023 IREV- GLITCH PROFESSOR!

The immediate past INEC Chairman, may not be the first to be rewarded for executing an institutional hatchet job, but may the last if Nigerian Electorate determinedly and collectively resist the current election-rigging syndrome of manual transfer of Election Results in 2027!
Professor Mahmood Yakubu is patiently waiting on the wings to be posted abroad on Diplomatic Assignment in spite of the fact that his controversial announcement of “nocturnal glitches in the upload of the 2023 Presidential Election Results” which favored the incumbent has resurrected to torment the polity!
According to a State House Press Release in January 2026, the erudite Ivory Tower Professor was named among the 68 Ambassadors designate confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
Professor Yakubu declared the incumbent President as winner with a paltry 36.5% of all votes cast to defeat other contestants when a night glitch prevented real time electronic transmission of the results!

WHAT CAUSED IREV NIGHT GLITCH  ACCORDING TO PROFESSOR YAKUBU!

On the morning of 26th February 2023, Yakubu had announced to an all-night vigil, exhausted and brow-beaten Electorate that there were some glitches in the process of uploading the results of the presidential election.
It was convenient for the GLITCH to occur in the dead of the night – though the two-term Chairman boasted that IREV WAS FOOL-PROOF!
On that fateful February 26, he also said the Commission was aware of the challenges with the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IREV) because unlike in off-season elections, where the portal was used, it has been relatively slow and unsteady.
YAKUBU ALSO SAID:
” The accreditations of voters using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), were successful but the Commission experienced glitches in transmitting results through the IReV during the presidential election.
He concluded that the problem was totally due to technical hitches (or glitches), related to scaling up the IReV from a platform for managing off-season State Elections to one for managing Nationwide General Elections and shamelessly admitted that it was “indeed not unusual for glitches to occur and be corrected in such situations”!
Mahmood’s darkness glitch occurred when REAL-TIME ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION of the flagship presidential result was in progress as enthusiastic electorate kept vigil but was not corrected!

NOW, THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY BELIEVES IT WAS TIME TO LEGALIZE THE SHAMELESS FRAUD!
It has been 32 months of President Tinubu’s experimental administration pivoted on massive alienation of Citizens from all basic necessities of life and the Rubber Stamp Legislature believes it was time to legalize a CRIME that consumed not less than 20,000 human lives!
The National Assembly (NASS), Legislators want to “legitimize” a flawed process of both manual and electronic transmission of Election Results which declared Tinubu as the winner contrary to Section 60 (3) of the 2022 Electoral Act.

MASSIVE PROTESTS AND SIEGE OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COMPLEX BY PATRIOTS - MEDIA REPORTS.

Patriotic Nigerians wasted no time to besiege the National Assembly from February 2026 with demands that Real Time Electronic Transmission of 2027 General Elections MUST be implemented as legislated in the 2022 Electoral Act.
Mass protests erupted at the National Assembly (NASS) in Abuja as citizens and civil society groups demanded the mandatory, real-time electronic transmission of election results for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The “Occupy NASS” movement includes prominent figures such as Peter Obi, Oby Ezekwesili, and Aisha Yesufu, alongside organizations like the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room and Action Aid Nigeria.
Protesters returned to the Assembly gates for the second consecutive week on Monday, February 16, 2026, following a five-day break. Demonstrations continued through Tuesday, February 17, as lawmakers held emergency sessions.
Protesters demanded for the complete removal of “manual collation” and “manual backup” clauses from the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, arguing that manual processes allow for result manipulation.

SENATE DECISION: On February 17, 2026, the Senate passed the bill but voted to retain manual collation as a backup if electronic transmission fails. The session was described as rowdy, with 55 senators voting to keep the manual rule versus 15 against it.
The House of Representatives initially endorsed real-time transmission but faced a divided plenary on February 17, with some members walking out during debates over rescinding the “real-time” requirement.
The Controversial Clause 60(3) which lawmakers moved to replace the term “real-time transmission” with “transfer,” which critics claim grants INEC too much discretionary power over how and when results are uploaded.
President Tinubu has however blamed his lack-luster performances of 32 months to BAD INHERITANCE from past Administrations!

“I INHERITED TERRORISM, BOKO HARAM, ARMED FULANI HERDSMEN, GUNMEN, KIDNAPPERS, UNGOVERNED SPACES OCCUPIED BY NON-STATE ACTORS IN THE NORTH, ELECTION RIGGING,  YAKUBU MAHMOOD ETC, I INHERITED THEM ALL!”
Yakubu is a product of the Ivory Tower first appointed in October 2015 by the late President Muhammadu Buhari as INEC Chairman and reappointed in October 2020 – making him the longest-serving head of that Federal Institution.
Following the footsteps of his predecessor, Professor Attahiru Jega, Yakubu also adopted the use of University Professors and other senior faculty heads as returning officers, in the hope that sanity would be introduced in the nation’s electoral system but they were very wrong!

JAILED AKWA IBOM PROFESSOR! MEDIA REPORTS – MAY 13 2025.

Peter Ogban, the disgraced Nigerian professor convicted and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for rigging a 2019 senatorial election for the country’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has been walking free instead of serving his jail term, PREMIUM TIMES has authoritatively reported.
Mr. Ogban, a professor of soil science at the University of Uyo, was a returning officer in the 2019 general elections in the Akwa Ibom North-West District.
Mr Akpabio, then-incumbent senator for the district and a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was seeking re-election after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, he was defeated by the PDP candidate, Chris Ekpenyong, a former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, which prosecuted Professor Ogban on a two-count charge of fraudulent manipulation of election results and falsification, publication and announcement of fake election results, had presented two witnesses – the collation officers in Oruk Anam and Etim Ekpo – who told the trial court that the final results the professor published were different from the ones they, as collation officers, originated from their respective local government areas.
The Federal Appellate Court of Akwa Ibom also confirmed the sentence!

INEC’ S 2027 ELECTION TIME TABLE – MEDIA REPORTS.

Incumbent INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, said on 13th February 2026 that the release of the timetable and schedule of the election was in line with provisions of the Constitution and the 2022 Electoral Act.
He said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, 20th February 2027.
It also fixed the Governorship and State Assembly Elections for Saturday, 6th March 2027 in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which requires the Commission to publish notice of elections not later than 360 days before the appointed date.
According to him, the tenure of the President, Vice-President, Governors and Deputy Governors, except in Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi and Ondo States, will lapse on 28 May 2027. Membership of the National and State Assemblies will dissolve on 8 June 2027.
INEC had earlier indicated on 4th February that it had concluded work on the 2027 timetable despite delays in legislative action. The commission, however, cautioned that adjustments may be required depending on when the amended law is enacted.
Professor Amupitan reaffirmed the Commission’s independence, stressing that the authority to fix election dates rests solely with INEC.
He directed all Resident Electoral Commissioners, including that of the FCT, to publish notices in their respective constituencies.

He explained that party primaries, the submission of nomination forms, and the campaign period will proceed strictly within the statutory windows provided in the published timetable. Campaigns, he added, will end 24 hours before election day as stipulated by law.
The 2027 general election will cover the offices of President and Vice President, Governors and Deputy Governors in eligible states, and members of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the State Houses of Assembly.
Professor Amupitan said the detailed timetable and schedule of activities have been uploaded to the party’s website and circulated to registered political parties and stakeholders.
“The commission has worked meticulously to set the election timetable and sequence of activities to ensure a smooth electoral process in 2027. We remain committed to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, even as we await the National Assembly’s approval of the amended Electoral Act,” he said.
