IVANKA’S ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT IS IRAN’S TROJAN HORSE TO TRUMP!
While negotiations progressed on peace deal between US and Iran to broker permanent peace for international vessels to navigate the Strait of Hormuz, assassins bullets hit the precincts of the White House to eliminate Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka! Could this be Iran’s strategy to prolong the already very frustrating war that has virtually brought the whole world to its economic knees? Federal authorities on Friday 22nd May 2026, accused an Iraqi national with alleged ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of plotting to assassinate the president’s daughter as retaliation for the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
According to the Times of Israel, the suspect, 32-year-old Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, was reportedly arrested in Turkey earlier this May, before being extradited to the United States Authorities allege he coordinated or supported multiple attacks tied to Iran-backed militant networks across Europe and North America.
However, in what seems like an irony of events, Iranian authorities recently staged massive PUBLIC WEDDING CEREMONIES across Tehran for couples enrolled in the state-sponsored “Jan-Fada” (Self-Sacrificing) initiative. The events, which took place in several major squares—including Imam Hossein Square—featured hundreds of couples who pledged their readiness to defend the country during ongoing regional conflicts.
MISSION TO ELIMINATE FATHER AND DAUGHTER?
The alleged plot coincided with yet another alleged assassination attempt on President Donald Trump that weekend. The White House briefly entered lockdown the evening of 22nd May after multiple bursts of gunfire were heard near the executive complex, sending reporters, staff and Secret Service personnel scrambling for safety during the chaotic scene captured live on television and social media.
STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF STRAIT OF HORMUZ TO GLOBAL ECONOMY!
According to Wikipedia, “The Strait of Hormuz” is a vital global chokepoint between Iran and Oman, linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman.
1) It’s geographic location makes it the ONLY SEA PASSAGE for the vast majority of oil and natural gas exports from major producers like Saudi Arabia, Iran, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait.
2) It Is an Energy Transit: Approximately 20% to 25% of the world’s seaborne oil trade and 20% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) pass through the STRAIT daily.
3) A Global Fertilizer Route: Over 30% of globally traded urea and other fertilizers sourced from the Gulf region pass through the strait, making it critical for global food security.
4) An Economic Vulnerability:
Because of its narrow width of just 39 kilometers (21 nautical miles), this waterway is highly susceptible to geo-political conflict, embargoes, and military blockades, which can trigger immediate spikes in global energy and commodity prices.
REUTERS RESEARCHED REPORT.
Following through on an old threat, Tehran effectively closed the strait after U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran began on 28th February 2026.
During the standoff over the Strait, Iran threatened to charge fees on ships passing through.
No such unilateral move to demand fees to traverse a strait has been made in modern history, shipping industry officials said, while U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted that free traffic of oil through the Strait MUST be part of any peace deal.
WHY IT MATTERS FOR OIL, GAS, JET FUEL AND FERTILISERS
About a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies normally pass through the strait, which is the only sea exit for the fuels from key exporting countries.
Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), members Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Iraq export most of their crude via the waterway.
Qatar, among the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas exporters, sends almost all of its LNG through the strait, while analytics firm Kpler estimates about 33% of the world’s fertilizers including sulphur and ammonia, pass via the strait.
Traffic has dropped by 97% since the U.S.-Israeli War against Iran began on February 28th 2026, United Nations data shows.
Daily shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell to less than 10% of its historical average after the start of the U.S.-Israel war.
Oil prices, Brent and WTI, have surged nearly 50.8% and 68.5%, respectively, since late February, when Middle East tensions disrupted the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil shipping corridor.
LONG HISTORY OF TENSIONS OVER THE STRAIT
When a Commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned in 2011 that cutting off the Strait would be “easier than drinking a glass of water”, the threat to the Strait had already been made many times before.
During the 1980 to 1988 Iran-Iraq War, the two sides sought to disrupt each other’s exports in what was called the Tanker War.
And in January 2012, Iran threatened to block the strait in retaliation for U.S. and European sanctions.
In May 2019, four vessels – including two Saudi oil tankers – were attacked off the UAE Coast, outside the Strait of Hormuz.
Three vessels, two in 2023 and one in 2024, were seized by Iran near or in the Strait. Some of the seizures followed U.S. seizures of tankers related to Iran.
Last year, Iran considered shutting down the strait after U.S. attacks on its nuclear facilities.
But analysts had always regarded the closure of the strait as a measure of last resort because of the long-term strategic changes it might prompt among Iran’s enemies, and the potential for retaliation against its own energy sector.
WHY IS THE STRAIT SO HARD TO SECURE?
The shipping lanes are narrow and ships must make a turn opposite Iranian islands and a mountainous coast that provides cover for Iranian forces, shipping broker SSY Global said.
Although Iran’s Navy has largely been destroyed, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has options including fast attack craft, mini submarines, mines and even jets packed with explosives, said Tom Sharpe, a retired Royal Navy Commander.
And Tehran has the capacity to produce around 10,000 drones a month, according to the Centre for Information Resilience.
ARE THERE ANY ALTERNATIVES TO THE STRAIT?
The UAE and Saudi Arabia have sought to find ways to bypass the Strait by building more oil pipelines. But those are not currently operational and an attack on an east-west Saudi pipeline by Houthi militia in 2019 showed those alternatives were also vulnerable.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said all countries in the region have the right to use the Strait freely and any talks on future financial mechanisms should wait until after it is reopened.
While the Strait has been closed, shipping firms have had to find alternative routes for some basic goods. For example, ensuring a shipment of timber reached Qatar required rerouting overland through the UAE.
WHAT DOES INTERNATIONAL LAW SAY?
The UNCLOS Maritime Convention governing international sea law, which was adopted in 1982 and has been in force since 1994, says, “states bordering straits cannot demand payment simply for permission to pass through.”
However, they can impose limited fees on ships for services such as piloting, tugging or port services, though these may not be levied more heavily on vessels from any particular countries.
Article 38 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, sometimes known as UNCLOS, provides vessels a right of unimpeded “transit passage” through more than 100 Straits worldwide, including the Strait of Hormuz.
Around 170 countries and the European Union have ratified UNCLOS. But Iran and the United States have not.
This raises the question of whether the Treaty’s rules affording freedom of maritime navigation have become part of customary international law, or bind only ratifying countries.
TRUMP SPEAKS FROM BOTH SIDES OF HIS MOUTH!
President Donald Trump has suggested the sides are close to an agreement but said a US blockade on Iranian ports will continue until a deal is reached.
Both countries are signaling progress in efforts to resolve the war but crucial details are still under negotiation and a deal is not expected to be signed soon, a senior US official told CNN.
President Donald Trump has indicated an agreement is close but cautioned the US won’t rush into a deal because specific terms surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program will be critical.
Tehran has committed in principle to reopening the Strait and to disposing of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, a senior US administration official said but negotiators are still ironing out details on sanctions relief and unfreezing Iranian assets.
If a deal is reached to end the war and reopen the Strait, it will be a lengthy and complex process to alleviate the world’s energy crisis and start lowering prices for consumers.
